747 Door Question

I have noticed for quite some time this alcove with something inside of it on the 747 door. In this picture, http://aviation-safety.net/pictures/displayphoto.php?id=990035&vnr=1&kind=E, it is on the top right corner of the door.

Any help as to what it is would be great.

I don't know if you guys have noticed it... there are external lights below each passenger door as well as by the cargo doors. I noticed at times after they ramp agents finished unloading the cargo from the aircraft they would turn on all the lights for a while... what are the lights for? Seen it on the B744s, B777s and B767s...
