What is the density (in grams per square meter) of most carbon fiber used in airframe applications?

In particular, I'm interested in the Raytheon Premier flight control surfaces (which are prepreg composite).

If anyone actually knows this, I'll be blown away. : )

From what I've read, average carbon fibre density is around 1.75 grams per cubic centimeter. Aircraft-grade carbon fibre could be a bit denser than that, maybe somewhere in the region of 2.0 g/cm³?

Cheers,

1. go to http://www.matweb.com
2. click "material types"
3. other engineering materials -> carbon fiber
4. pick a few to get a feel for density values

Don't worry, "disgustingly technical" has to involve calculations of some sort, at least  Smile
