Salut, dear readers,
there is a new story to tell.
A difficult decision, should I go for France, Spain or maybe also the Basque country?.
Well, we will see!.
It´s just a week ago since I´ve reached the home base from a couple of days in Asia:
Four Props On A Pax Plane?. Yes, It´s The Dash-7!. (by FLIEGER67 Dec 8 2012 in Trip Reports)
And now it´s time to board a plane again.
A new departure airport is ready to count
with BIQ as no. 227:
Departure Airports II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen
This is today´s routemap:

Thanx to, as usual:

Here are the latest flown routes:

And the previous 200 departure locations:

And just by coincidence, there is these nice young woman from Switzerland, or is it England?. With also a couple of flights today on schedule!.

Service Air France AF 5411 operated by
Regional CAE
Scheduled: 06.50 // 07.40
Ah, this looks like a relaxed 02.30 am wake up call!.
Relaxed?. Well, as relaxed as it should be with a day of travel ahead!.
The ticket is fixed by Wideroe to calm the fees down.
The fare per leg with stretch one and two is 65.00 Euro´s.
Not that I really expect OLCI available on this flights out of MLH. But try it, just for fun!.
No fun, no OLCI.
The nightly ride through the black forest is smooth, as smooth as possible with truck after truck on the way.
Take one over and see two more ahead, take one over and see three more ahead. It´s impressive how traffic changes during the last years with all these internet overnight deliveries, strange.
Ok, somewhat earlier than expected at MLH´s F3 to park the car. Hope to see you in the same state in the evening!.
The self service kiosk shows me my seat of choice available for leg one and two and there is also these nice young woman around catching some boarding papers from the machine. Nothing else expected by the way!.
What should go wrong now?. Welcome to a day of travel with nice companion, superb sunny weather and absolutely no turbulences a la francaise.
Just a minute at security with an extra Sky Priority entrance and heading for the gate to spot the scheduled plane type or not?

At least the flight is top of the board from gate 21

EZY for Pristina is running late

MLH has grown since my last visit, definitely, but no lounge available till now

A nice pre-flight chat and boarding now.
This is the scheduled Embraer 145, F-GRGH.
Leg no. 10 on type and a warm welcomed new entry to the log

In service with Regional since 22.03.1999.
23 E45´s are in the actual fleet

Cockpit crew is from France. The captain with a short welcome during boarding and once more short later on prior to approach.
No route or flightlevel info.
Legroom is good here with me in seat 19F, the last row window and two for me

The load is 60%. Close to biz travellers only today
beside these nice young woman in 19A!.
Departure 06.45 am, short ahead to schedule, 10 cloudy degrees, 40 minutes to go for "Regional Europe" southern side now.
3900 meters or runway "One-Five" send us away.
There is a younger and nice female FA working the cabin today.
Leaving MLH, see you later in the evening, hopefully

"Consignes de securite", take one

Service is a Brioche together with water, coffee and tea.
Why not?

The cabin ceiling and a view for the dark blue clean so far leather seats

Cloud cruising

Me and the engine

Short to LYS

Nice early morning view. It seems the perfect side of the plane for me

Touchdown at the 2670 meters "Three-Six-Right". 7.35 am, short ahead to schedule and 11 cloudy degrees here.
Welcome to AF´s regional hub

And bye now to F-GRGH

Self service for the terminal and a quick view to the lounge now, or not?.

Service Air France AF 5432 operated by
Regional CAE
Scheduled: 08.45 // 10.00
How to enter a lounge french style?.
Simply knock the code secured door and if no one opens, join the next pax.
And I´am sure, the companion by these nice young woman helps!.
Just to restock my travel bag now and for a view to the screen.
BIQ from gate 21A

There is an E70 to go here, at least according to schedule

Come on, closer please

Like this one

F-HBXO, yes, it´s the E70.
Leg no. 7 on type and one more new entry to the log

First in service since 30.06.2004 with Alitalia Express and now in Regional colours.
16 examples are in the actual fleet.
Boarding now

Cockpit crew is from France, the pilot with a shorty welcome after boarding is completed.
No route or flightlevel info what seems the norm in France these days.
08.50 am, close to schedule, 1 hour, 05 minutes for the Atlantique by "Regional Europe" now.
Departure from the 4000 meters "Three-Six-Left".
The temperature is 11 degrees and the sky is cloudy.
I´am sure, the sun is stopped at our destination.
Legroom is good here in 20F, the last row window with these nice young woman in 19F and two for me again

Cabin crew is one young and nice male together with an elder ok style female FA.
"Consignes de securite". Should we really need something like this here?

Cabin view, it´s clean so far till now.
The load is 90% with biz and other travellers like us, well mixed today.

Interesting planes on the apron, Air Austral and Europe Airpost

Now that´s something for me

Up for the blue sky

On former AZ metal, thanx for the suggestion!

Looks like another nice flight, isn´t it?.
But soon after departure, just from a second to the other we enter rough air, really rough air. Not the best thing when we know that the FA´s started to serve snacks and something to drink just a couple of minutes ago.
Well, I´ve changed for row 19 earlier, the aisle seat and also these nice young woman in 19F is not that really happy with her full cup of tea. Better said with her former full cup of tea, spilt now on the tablet and somewhere else. The woman in 19A takes it not easier with her hot coffee all around.
Some minutes later everything calmed down with the smell of coffee left hand side and lot´s of paper towels to use right hand side. Thanx god we made it this way and nothing more serious happened.
Back now for the approach into BIQ

Sun everywhere, no clouds to see, or not?

Above the basque countryside with a shaky crosswind approach

And also an river close to BIQ

Touchdown on the wet 2250 meters runway "Two-Seven".
09.55 am, short ahead to schedule, 16 partly cloudy degrees here. So far with the sun

These mixed blue grey stylish leather seats are really comfy

Let´s go into town now, the 24 hours bus ticket is rather cheap here, 2.00 Euro´s only.
But the weather god´s are not really sure what to prefer today.
Sun and rain in a frequent mix.
Under the shelter in town along a rain shower

Cleared up, the sun is coming

Down for the sea

And the rough atlantic waves

Still some rain showers around

Looks like much nicer with the sun out

No problems for the surfers, the more wind, the better

I´ve read about that the first surfers in Europe done it in Biarritz.
Let´s join the sunny direction

Strange waves, absolutely no problems

The main beach

Up the hill

For a view

And the old harbour

Looks like nice with the sun above

Well protected from the waves

Small boats indoor

Imagine a ride on such a small boat in the rough waves

The basque fisherman´s harbour

Looks like nice, isn´t it?

Dinner?

Out for the next view point. It feels good to have some nice chat down by the, ok not the whole day, sunny sea

Well, not me down there

Really heavy waves

These bridge looks like somewhat old

Sun and people at the main beach

The guy´s at work!

Ok, join the next bus after some walking around town and head back for the airport now.

Service AF 7499 operated by Air France
Scheduled: 15.30 // 16.50
BIQ is the new departure airport with the non secured baggage area

The terminal

Cars on offer

Where do you want to go?

Paris-Orly from gate 5, not that I´am really amused with FR bound for STN at the very same time

There is a lounge available, airport operated, but the employees at the infodesk are not yet clear if it´s free with Diners or with an entrance fee, so not used this time.
Leg three and four are booked on one ticket again by Wideroe. The fare 65.00 Euro´s per leg this way.
Check-in at the self service kiosks immediatelly after arrival from LYS earlier in the morning.
Not that really amused again, definitely. Two security stations only available here and the queue growing and growing. We waited till FR and AF both called for pax but the queue is anyway much to long.
Ok, let´s join, me doing the slower one, as usual. Finally through for a pic to the plane at the gate.
No way to miss, also when the gate agents have some strange views now for us. Well, I´am used to it!

Red seaters here

And finally boarding F-GTAO, the scheduled A321.
New to the log and leg no. 21 on type

With AF since 25.04.2007. 25 A321´s are in the actual fleet

3.30 pm, perfectly ontime, 1 hour, 10 minutes now by "AirFrance" for Paris-Orly.
20 degrees by now and rain showers, like the whole day.
This is BIQ airside

Cockpit crew is from France. The captain with a short welcome only, after boarding is completed.
Well, no route or flightlevel info, nothing else expected.
Turning for the runway

Just departed from "Two-Seven", like arrivals, with a view to the city

Cabin crew is one elder ok male, one young and nice male together with three female FA´s. One elder and biz friendly, one middle aged, nice and one middle aged and ok.
In direction Ocean Atlantique

Turning inland now

Up for the clouds

The load is 80% with lots of biz pax on travel today.
Late boarding helps again here, 19F and three for me.
"Consignes de securite", sure

And the legroom, not that much available here

The thin dark blue fabric seats. The cabin is clean so far

Blue is what I´am looking for

Service AF domestic style

Touchdown at the 3650 meters "Zero-Six". 04.45 pm,
short ahead to schedule, 18 degrees and partly cloudy in Paris.
At least the weather in ORY looks like sunny and clear

As earlier stated, there is no intra security connection here possible. So out for the public it is now.

Service Air France AF 7338 operated by
Brit Air
Scheduled: 18.00 // 19.00
And for a view to the screen.
No remarks for MLH, gate 30 by the way and no lounge here on offer in this area

Is this really the same security situation here again?.
It is, an extra station at the gate and a long queue ahead.
No way, better have some chat now.
And dont get me wrong, the queue is growing while we waited.
Growing and growing till boarding is on the screen and we joined.
Only to notice some minutes later that there are a good number of pax inside the gate area but no one decides to board the plane.
Well, these are the pax for the next flight and they are waiting for us now.
Let´s go downstairs for a view like this.
Not that there is any accordance with the planes registration and our destination

F-HMLH is the scheduled CR-K.
Leg no. 10 on type and also new to the log.
In service with Brit Air since 14.04.2011, 13 CR-K´s are in the actual fleet.
Some relaxed pics at the apron with the purser at the planes door.
I´am sure, he agrees with us, someone should be the last pax the board the plane, everytime!.
The CR-K looks good this way

Wing view

And what about these F50?

Cockpit crew is from France.
The captain at the planes door during boarding and further on with short infos inflight in a nice style.
No route, nor flightlevel info.
6.10 pm, some minutes late, no duration info noticed, "BritAir" on the go from the 3320 meters runway "Zero-Eight".
18 partly cloudy degrees here.
Legroom is good with the bright grey leather seats.
10F, two for me, late boarding, you know. The cabin is clean so far and the load is 80%

Cabin crew is one elder, nice male together with one middle aged, large, slim, brown hair, good looking nice female FA.
"Consignes de securite", sure that´s important

And the cabin ceiling

Service, something new for me

6.55 pm, short ahead to schedule. Welcome back at runway "One-Five" with 16 degrees.
Ok, we and the clouds are back at MLH

And also the fitting reg is back at it´s place

By now to these nice young woman.
Thanx for a great day together in the air.
Something to do again?.
Sure, at least from my point of view!.
The car is where it should be, unharmed!.
And made it also this way through the nightly black forest till the home base.
Conclusions anyone?:
Regional MLH-LYS: Calm and comfy.
Regional LYS-BIQ: Not calm, but comfy beside that.
Air France BIQ-ORY: Now it´s calm again.
Brit Air ORY-MLH: Smart and comfy.
Any idea, where Europe´s Kai Tak is located?:

I will check it soon!.
Au revoir,
comments welcome,

A great read for a beautiful end of the fall morning, sunny and unusually warm here, almost 20C. Wearing sunglasses as I write this on the sun
Beautiful photos of your trip and Biarritz seems a great place to spend some days on holidays, especially if you like surfing, I know they have a great rivalry with some Basque towns in Spain: Mundaka is supposed to have the best waves... I am not keen on surfing but find it quite unsual here in Europe.
Planes look great, especially the LYS-BIQ sector, a really well kept and nice to here you did not get wet with your drink despite the rough air.
Looking forward to more readings in the coming Xmas' days.
Salut!

I have never been to Biarritz but it looks like a nice place to go for a day trip.
Flights look nice as usual on Air France but the legroom on the 321 is not so good. Reminds me of my flights on LH's 321's; very cramped.
So you didn't get the registration of the last flight ? That's really too bad.

First of all, Happy Boxing Day!
