Hello everyone and welcome to my 5th trip report,
This trip report will cover a weekend trip I made during Easter weekend. Upon searching on the internet I saw a very nice fare with LH to Toronto. Without thinking about it too much I booked it right away, leaving Friday morning and arriving back in Amsterdam on Monday afternoon. Got the Friday and Saturday (which I sometimes work) off from work and as it was Easter weekend I automatically got the Monday off, as here in Holland we have what is called “2nd Easter day” (we also have 2nd Christmas day and 2nd pentacost day, no idea why actually). Upon looking for an hotel I chose for the Marriott Hotel in Downtown Toronto, quite a ways from the airport but close to the CN tower and some other places I wanted to visit. AMS-FRA-AMS will be operated by the good old B737 and the FRA-YYZ-FRA leg will be operated by the long A340-600. That will be the 2nd and 3rd time flying that type as I travelled Iberia on the Quito-Madrid sector many years ago. This report will be split into 2 parts. Part 1 will be the AMS-FRA-YYZ leg and part 2 will have some pictures of Toronto and the return journey: YYZ-FRA-AMS. The map for this weekend trip:

10:40 – 11:45

On Thursday night I quickly packed my bag and had a good 5 hours of sleep. Woke up at 7 o’clock, took a quick shower and had some breakfast. As my dad was off from work he was kind enough to bring me to AMS with the car. At 08:00 we arrived at AMS and headed straight to the check-in area. A quick look at the FIDS and I saw the flight was delayed 35 min. Instead of 09:40 the new departure time is 10:15. No problem as I had enough time to connect through to my other flight. Having checked in for both legs online the night before all I had to do is print my BPs and drop my bag off. Upon arriving at check-in area 8 I printed my BPs quickly and waited in line to drop my bag off. There was quite a long line, after 20 min it was my turn and 2 min later I had dropped my bag off. Exchanged some Euro’s into Canadian dollars, bid my father farewell, and went straight to security. There was a very long row at security. 30 min later at 09:15 I was still waiting in line and was getting rather inpatient by now. As I saw passengers which boarding time had already started were let through to the fast track lane I decided to try that as well as my boarding time without delay was 09:10. I was let through to the fast track lane and was finally past security at 09:30. While looking at the FIDS again the delay was now 45 min with a new scheduled departure time of 10:30. I headed straight to my gate and waited there till boarding time. Gate for this sector will be B27:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/002-2.jpg

Upon looking on the screen at the gate the scheduled boarding time is 10:10. At 10 o’clock the aircraft finally arrived. D-ABIL will be doing the honors for me today:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/001-2.jpg

Passengers coming to AMS deplaned quickly and 5 min after that boarding was finally announced. As always I was one of the last ones to board the plane. Was kindly greeted by 2 male flight attendants and proceeded to my seat: 18A. It was a pretty full flight at 90%. Next to me I had a little Japanese girl who was travelling with her father and mother to Tokyo flying with the dreamliner, I was jealous! The view from my seat, the LH 737 was also headed to FRA and pushed back just minutes after us:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/003-2.jpg

A kind greeting by the cockpit followed with the reason for our delay: The originally scheduled aircraft to do this leg went tech last minute so they had to switch to this aircraft. Quite understandable and in my opinion LH couldn’t do much about that. With an announced flying time of 45 min we pushed back at 10:40 and started taxiing to (of course) the “Polderbaan”. We passed this HV aircraft with a special “Beach volleyball European championship” scheme:

This KLM 737 came taxiing by:

And eventually passed us with a DL A330 leading the way:

Crossing the “Zwanenburgbaan”:

And over the “Hoofdvaart” which means we are almost there:

The KLM 737 departed followed by the Delta A330, then it was our turn. Starting take-off roll:

Which gave us a nice view of the City Haarlem:

The new Lufthansa “Magazin” for the month of April:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/018-1.jpg

The flight crew was an all male one. Only the FO was a lady. Once the seat belt sign was switched off the 2 male flight attendants and male Purser sprung into action. The 2 attendants didn’t look to be enjoying their job, the purser on the other hand was the opposite. The snack was a kind of “raisinbread”. Didn’t eat it as I don’t like raisins and gave it to the little girl next to me who seemed to like it. I forgot to take a picture of it though, oh well. I did get an OJ which as always tasted nicely. A lot of passengers were worried about their tight connection at FRA. During the flight the crew announced that the planes will wait for them if needed and not to worry about their connection. It was quite a clear day above Dutch soil:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/019-2.jpg

Once we reached German territory it got much more cloudy. We soon enough started our descent towards the clouds:

Through the clouds:

We then arrived at the terminal. For all the passengers with a tight connection there were gate agents waiting to transport them straight to the gate. As we arrived at the B gates and my next flight was also from the B gates it was a short walk to passport control and I was on the Int’l side in no time. The FIDS:

A walked a bit around the terminal and took some pictures of LH heavies. Love the fact you can get so close to the planes at FRA:

The remaining time I waited at the gate. Boarding started right on time at 13:25. There already was a very long line with people waiting to board. I took a seat close to the First/Business class line. Once those passengers had boarded the remaining economy passengers could also use this line. I sprung into action right away and was through within a minute. Upon boarding the aircraft I showed my BP and was kindly greeted by 2 female attendants. I headed straight to my seat 36A. A Canadian lady was sitting next to me. The view from my seat, nice wingspan!:

Boarding was completed, the load will be pretty good at around 90%. A kind welcome from the cockpit and the safety demonstration then started on the PTVs:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/091-2.jpg

I first decided to watch Tower Heist, a great movie:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/090-2.jpg

Flight crew consisted of 1 male, a couple of “older” and the rest young females. They first served a “Happy Mix” snack, together with that I got a coke:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/101-2.jpg

The very handy cup holder:

Seatback:

Pillow and blanket:

The cabin:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/107-2.jpg

Soon enough the crew came by with a meal. Don’t remember what the other choice was anymore but I went for the Spaghetti Bolognese, together with that a little salad with Italian dressing, bread with butter, cheese and lemon cake. It was quite tasty actually. Also added was a chocolate Easter bunny which I thought was a nice touch:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/110-2.jpg

By the time Tower Heist was over we were a ways past Ireland and cruising above the Atlantic Ocean, 5h35min to go and cruising at FL360:

In the Lufthansa Media World you have an arrival guide with arrival videos of every destination:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/117-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/118-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/120-2.jpg

I then watched an episode of Modern family which was quite funny:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/121-2.jpg

After that I paid a visit to the lavatories, which meant going down these stairs in the galley:

The lavatories:

Another shot of the forward economy cabin:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/124-2.jpg

Still above the Atlantic Ocean at FL360 with 4h36min to go:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/129-2.jpg

The crew now passed by with the immigration forms which I immediately filled in. Some ice on my window:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/130-2.jpg

Then I watched a movie I have been wanting to see for a while now: The Descendants:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/134-2.jpg

It was cloudy most of the trip:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/135-2.jpg

Close-up on the winglet:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/137-2.jpg

The crew came by with drink runs, water, OJ or apple juice. I went for the apple juice:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/139-2.jpg

After the Descendants we had just reached Canadian soil:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/142-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/144-2.jpg

Which meant amazing scenery down below, too bad it was so cloudy:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/141-2.jpg

2h12min to go at FL380:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/147-2.jpg

At the next drink run I got a water:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/148-2.jpg

Some more impressive scenery:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/153-2.jpg

Now I was watching some different music videos. Of course I had to watch Adele:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/152-2.jpg

With about 1h30min to go the crew came by with another snack. Choice out of a hot dog or a margarita pizza. I chose the hot dog together with a coke, also quite tasty:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/155-2.jpg

Getting closer to Toronto. 1h14min to go still at FL380:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/156-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/157-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/158-2.jpg

Soon enough we started our descent:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/160-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/163-2.jpg

Our front wheel was already past Toronto with 20min to go at FL200:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/166-2.jpg

As landing was from the west, and we were arriving from the east that meant flying over and past Toronto:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/168-2.jpg

We also flew past the airport, which gave a very nice overview of YYZ:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/172-2.jpg

That meant 2 sharp left turns:

EK A380 at the gate:

Did you know AC was the main carrier here?:

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/199-2.jpg

We parked at the gate next to this nice G-registered Sunwing 737 and an OS 767:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/200-2.jpg

The 2 doors were opened quickly and 10 min later I was out of the plane. Once in the jetway I saw 2 pretty long lines in front of me. Getting closer to the end I saw that 2 officers were performing a passport check and asking some questions. After showing my passport, telling the officer that I was staying in downtown Marriott for the weekend I was let through. That meant washing through a long glass corridor with the gates below us:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/201-2.jpg

Once I reached immigration it was my turn right away. I approached the already grumpy looking Indian officer. Said good afternoon but got no reply back, oh well never mind then. After answering the usual questions I got a big circled V85 on my immigration form and was allowed to move on, that meant getting the whole “special treatment”.
Before walking to the baggage claim I first had to go to a separate immigration room. Stood in line for 15 min and walked to the immigration officer. After answering the same questions I had just answered the other officer I was let through to the baggage claim. The baggage claim looked very nice (forget to make some pictures) and my bag was there already when I arrived at the belt.
Instead of going straight to the arrivals hall I had to once again go to a separate room. This time the officer looked through all my baggage and asked the same questions I have been answering 3 times before.
After that I was finally let through to the arrivals hall. Went straight to the taxi stand where there was a taxi waiting for me right away. “To the courtyard by Marriott in downtown Torono Yonge Street” I said. Got an “ok no problem” from the driver and off we were. 30 min later I arrived at the hotel and paid the driver. The valet got my suitcase for me and brought it to check in. After being kindly greeted by my last name I got checked in. Having asked for an high floor room I got the 7th (out of 17) floor and room 723:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/202-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/203-2.jpg

http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/204-2.jpg

After checking my room and leaving my baggage I decided to walk around the neighborhood. Walked down Yonge street:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/206-2.jpg

Yonge street is a nice place with lots of shops, musicians, tourists, restaurants and much more. There is also a big mall called the Toronto Eaton Centre. Walked through there as the shops were closing and decided to come back the next day. I decided to walk back to the hotel. Some Emirates advertisement:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/207-2.jpg

My hotel:
http://i1068.photobucket.com/albums/u441/bjb020/205-2.jpg

After arriving at my hotel I took a nice bath. After that went to the restaurant that belonged to the hotel: The Yonge street Grill. Had a nice dinner, went back to my room and fell asleep at 9 o’clock.

Well I will leave part 1 right here. Another 2 usual flights with Lufthansa. A delay on the AMS-FRA sector but after hearing the explanation can’t give LH the fault as the plane went tech. FRA-YYZ sector was also a usual flight. The FA’s did their job and took good care of the passengers and I got to YYZ on time. The food was also of an ok quality.

I hope you guys enjoyed part 1 as much as I enjoyed making it. Comments/questions/suggestions are very welcome and stay tuned for part 2 coming in the next couple of days.

Cheers,
Adamspotter // Brendan

Hi Brendan,

Thanks for another nice trip report! great pictures! Despite the delay on AMS-FRA, LH staff seems very helpful in assisting the connecting pax. LH long haul services seem solid.

Got the Friday and Saturday (which I sometimes work) off from work and as it was Easter weekend I automatically got the Monday off, as here in Holland we have what is called “2nd Easter day” (we also have 2nd Christmas day and 2nd pentacost day, no idea why actually)

Its the same thing in Thailand as well, if a public holiday takes place on a weekend, the next working day will also be a day off. In Thailand we would call it a substitute holiday.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Also added was a chocolate Easter bunny which I thought was a nice touch:

Very nice touch indeed! I want that

Nice report!! Loved the take off from AMS as I can now recall doing that on my KU flight, years back!! And now to the gorgeous A340-600! Great that you could fly on it. Until a few weeks back LH was operating the A343. Glad to have the long jet back at YYZ!!

Glad you could check in on-line, as I noticed that LH now has that feature for long haul flights. Also they have seatback videos now..nice!! I think I am ready now to fly with LH again.

You would have got a fairly good view of the CN tower and the Sky dome from the air, but I think you missed it, unless it may have seemed too far off. You landed on Rwy 5 on the other side of Rwy 23! Rwy 23 has all the spotters and other non-spotters who come to see the EK A380!! The non-spotters had probably even left by the time you landed, also disappointed the EK A380 came on Rwy 5 too lol. You probably took off from Rwy 23 on Monday? Or 24R

Wow you really had lots of questions and interrogation rooms to visit prior to leaving the airport. What were the make up of the others in those lines. Being a young person, I am sure they were a little more strict with you.

Did you not have an option to take the airport shuttle to downtown Marriott? That taxi ride must have cost quite a bit!!

Hope you had a great time in Toronto. Looking forward to the return trip.

I did get that good view vut the FAs were walking up and down the aisle and allready asked somebody behind me to stop taking pictures so I decided not to do that. Oh well went in the CN tower the next day which you will se in part 2. Nice to know it was rnwy 5 I landed on didn't know that.. Yes took off from rnwy 23 on monday indeed.

Well being 21 years old, being from Amsterdam and staying only 3 days in Toronto I on the other side understand why they made me do that and were strict. It seems to happen to me every time I go to Canada or the U.S.

Hi Brendan,

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
AMS-FRA-AMS will be operated by the good old B737 and the FRA-YYZ-FRA leg will be operated by the long A340-600. That will be the 2nd and 3rd time flying that type as I travelled Iberia on the Quito-Madrid sector many years ago

Good report on a type that has so far eluded me. 345 looks better IMO, but 346 is also a lovely beast.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
Flight crew consisted of 1 male, a couple of “older” and the rest young females. They first served a “Happy Mix” snack, together with that I got a coke:

That snack doesn't look very happy--the sticks in shorts seem to be running away!

Unlike maybe Europe, here in Canada, we are all Canadians.

PS: All flights from Amsterdam are screened heavily in Canada (especially for single males) due to the high propensity of drug related incidents.

Hi Brendan,

Nice report on your Easter travel to Toronto. Did you have to venture out that far to pick some eggs   Nice and solid flights with the Luftwaffe and good to see your delay was handled well.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
The view from my seat, the LH 737 was also headed to FRA and pushed back just minutes after us

So next one was already in when you still had to go?

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
During the flight the crew announced that the planes will wait for them if needed and not to worry about their connection.

Very good. These little things make a decent carrier stand out from the rest.

After that I paid a visit to the lavatories, which meant going down these stairs in the galley:

That's one thing I like very much on the A346 series. No congregation at the toilets in your seat"s vicinity.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
We also flew past the airport, which gave a very nice overview of YYZ:

Good catch!

By the way, I did go back and check, and your ride from AMS to FRA was indeed the same LH 735 as I had from FRA to AMS last year. In my case it was an unscheduled encounter with the "Memmingen", caused by weather related cancellations, and detailed in the report: Taking The "scenic Route" To Amsterdam! Hi Brendan,

Nice report on your Easter travel to Toronto. Did you have to venture out that far to pick some eggs Nice and solid flights with the Luftwaffe and good to see your delay was handled well.

Hi Sultanils,
thanks! hehe yes I had to. Very well handled indeed.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 20):
So next one was already in when you still had to go?

yes, that was the 10:45 to FRA

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 20):
Very good. These little things make a decent carrier stand out from the rest.

couldn't agree with you more

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 20):
Yep, FRA's a great airport, especially airside

indeed!

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 20):
That's one thing I like very much on the A346 series. No congregation at the toilets in your seat"s vicinity

indeed, very nice

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 20):

Good catch!

Thanks!

Quoting visualapproach (Reply 21):
Great report, enjoyed reading it. Do you have any further images from Toronto (that you could perhaps put in the next report )? I'm visiting next month myself, so would be good to get a recent impression.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Yes I do will be in Part 2 coming up in the next couple of days!

Hi David,

Quoting dkdaviator (Reply 22):
By the way, I did go back and check, and your ride from AMS to FRA was indeed the same LH 735 as I had from FRA to AMS last year. In my case it was an unscheduled encounter with the "Memmingen", caused by weather related cancellations, and detailed in the report: Taking The "scenic Route" To Amsterdam! BLL To AMS (by dkdaviator Aug 26 2011 in Trip Reports) . Glad to hear that it was still in a nice condition and served you well.

Nice to know! Will read your report later on my lazy sunday! In fact D-ABIL will make another appearance in part 2

Hi Marc,

Quoting MSS658 (Reply 23):
Nice trip report, thanks for sharing! I flew Lufty to Miami back in 2010 and was very pleased with the inflight service. Here are my reports.

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Haven't read those reports yet will do that later on then
Quoting MSS658 (Reply 23):
I've been in Toronto as well last February and I enjoyed the cn tower as well Did you have time to visit Niagara as well?

No didn't have time to visit there. Laswt time I was there was when I was 2 years old hehe. Something to do this coming year i'm thinking

cheers,

Hi Brendan,

A really nice report. Thanks for putting it up.

I recently got lured into a GLA-YYZ in the winter, and it was great. That was TS though, so not quite as nice as LH. Just a couple of points; I am still not keen on the yellow present throughout Lufthansa's branding... just don't think it adds anything good. The meal looked not too bad. I would still need a bit more persuasion to fly a European carrier over a ME/ Asian carrier.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Under the wing of the A380, very nice!

Brilliant... though she looks a little grubby.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 4):
We also flew past the airport, which gave a very nice overview of YYZ:

I love this type of approach. It makes landing much more exciting and you can get a better orientation.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 4):
TS A310:

I think I didn't fly one with the new tail-scheme. Don't like it really.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 4):
Instead of going straight to the arrivals hall I had to once again go to a separate room. This time the officer looked through all my baggage and asked the same questions I have been answering 3 times before.

Fortunately I was not selected for addition screening. Which is a great relief, as I was importing three Haggis and a black pudding for Scottish friends and would have certainly got in hot water.

All in all, great report. Thanks

Luke

Quoting kiramakora (Reply 11):

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Once I reached immigration it was my turn right away. I approached the already grumpy looking Indian officer.

Interesting observation. How do you know he was Indian? As opposed to Pakistani, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Middle Eastern, or Latin? Did you ask?

Unlike maybe Europe, here in Canada, we are all Canadians.

PS: All flights from Amsterdam are screened heavily in Canada (especially for single males) due to the high propensity of drug related incidents.

I'm sorry, I have to pick up on this one.

Chiefly because I am concerned. Now I am aware that there are those so utterly politically sensitive, that almost seem to scan reports to see if they can flag something up; it is akin to walking on brittle eggshells by even inputting into this forum. So, incase I should have to mention someone of the descent/ race that we are all aware the OP is referring too... how should I term this? Sub-continental? Potentially-with-ancestral-background-alluding-to-this-particular-region-of-the-world? Or shall we just omit any descriptions of people on this forum? I would hate to offend.

Perhaps instead of berating the OP for clearly non-malicious and unintentional description of an immigration officer, you ought to give praise and encouragement for the time, effort and thought he put into this report.

Hi Brendan - I was actually wondering who on earth is that mysterious "adam" in your nickname until figured it out - yes, I can be a bit knuckleheader!

Anyway a terrific first part of your Toronto trip. Toronto is hands down my favorite city anywhere so it was good to see some photos from there. Visiting again in June, albeit very shortly and very much looking forward to that trip! I flew LH there as well, although my Atlantic crossings were with the 744s instead, but fine flights up to the usual high LH standards.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Next to me I had a little Japanese girl who was travelling with her father and mother to Tokyo flying with the dreamliner, I was jealous!

How do you know? Did you see their boarding passes?

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
and started taxiing to (of course) the “Polderbaan”.

Ahh, typical. Add a landing on the new runway at FRA to that mix and you are looking at a flight where you spend as much time taxiing than actually flying this short hop!

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Soon enough my aircraft taxied to the gate, D-AIHH will be doing the honors on this leg:

Nice! Flew this very same bird to Bogota last October!

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
A kind welcome from the cockpit and the safety demonstration then started on the PTVs:

That woman looks so scary, wonder why they chose her.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Close to Düsseldorf:

A nice shot of yourself too  .

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Soon enough the crew came by with a meal. Don’t remember what the other choice was anymore but I went for the Spaghetti Bolognese, together with that a little salad with Italian dressing, bread with butter, cheese and lemon cake. It was quite tasty actually. Also added was a chocolate Easter bunny which I thought was a nice touch:

Hmm that looks quite okay. And yes, a nice touch with the Easter bunny.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
After that I paid a visit to the lavatories, which meant going down these stairs in the galley:

Ahh yes, this is a very cool feature. Was there a mini buffet downstairs like on my flights?

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Choice out of a hot dog or a margarita pizza. I chose the hot dog together with a coke, also quite tasty:

Hmm, interesting to see a hot dog made out of the German style soft bread.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Thomas Cook 757:

What on earth is that bird doing there??

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Did you know AC was the main carrier here?:

Yes.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
“To the courtyard by Marriott in downtown Torono Yonge Street” I said.

Nice, I stayed at this very same hotel during my Toronto trip in 2005. Got it very cheaply off Priceline. Quite a decent property and the location is excellent. Your room looks exactly the same as mine did back then.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
After checking my room and leaving my baggage I decided to walk around the neighborhood. Walked down Yonge street:

Do you know that they claim it is the longest street in the world?

Yes, had a little chat with the little girls dad, but as PH pointed out it was with the 777, not the dreamliner. My mistake!

Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 28):

No, there was nothing downstairs. Only some refreshments upstairs in the galley.

Thomas Cook leased 6 757s to Air Canada (Jazz Air) for the winter season

Hi, Brendan,

really good to follow part I of you´re shorty ride to Canada.
Been to Toronto also, sure an interesting place to go.
LH service looks like ok and good to catch the A346 this way.

Took a seat in the bus next to the window to get a “under the wing” shot:

Perfect place.

Hello Brendan,

We may not have May 1 as an official holiday, but we are definitely blessed with our Easter and Whitsunday weekend. A great opportunity to do a long weekend getaway and what a great idea to make a city trip outside Europe and who ever thought of Canada?

I am thinking about doing the same thing to spend long Whitsunday weekend outside Europe. Well, not in Canada though.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
There was a very long row at security. 30 min later at 09:15 I was still waiting in line and was getting rather inpatient by now.

Long security line even on Friday morning? Well, I forgot it was Good Friday.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
As I saw passengers which boarding time had already started were let through to the fast track lane I decided to try that as well as my boarding time without delay was 09:10.

Very clever of you!

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Gate for this sector will be B27:

I left from the same gate last year July for A.net meeting in FRA.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
The flight crew was an all male one. Only the FO was a lady.

Cool fact!

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Didn’t eat it as I don’t like raisins and gave it to the little girl next to me who seemed to like it. I forgot to take a picture of it though, oh well.

No worries, you made me someone else happy and that matters.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Under the wing of the A380, very nice!:

I can imagine the thrill.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
Love the fact you can get so close to the planes at FRA:

Oops, to be honest, I never paid any closer attention to it.

Quoting adamspotter (Thread starter):
First impression of the Lufthansa Media World: Some nice movies, but not much else that interested me except for the airshow of course!:

Airshow is a must! What about the music selection apart from Adele? Dance or today’s hits?

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
Also added was a chocolate Easter bunny

Happy Easter from LH.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
After that I paid a visit to the lavatories, which meant going down these stairs in the galley

You just cannot skip the downstairs lavatory if you are on board of LH A346.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
Of course I had to watch Adele:

Also Rolling In The Deep?

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
We also flew past the airport, which gave a very nice overview of YYZ:

Isn’t the view just exciting?

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
EK A380 at the gate:

Will it not be great to see the Whale jet in AMS as well from next August?

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
Did you know AC was the main carrier here?:

Apparently. AC’s airplanes are just everywhere.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
After answering the usual questions I got a big circled V85 on my immigration form and was allowed to move on, that meant getting the whole “special treatment”.
Before walking to the baggage claim I first had to go to a separate immigration room. Stood in line for 15 min and walked to the immigration officer. After answering the same questions I had just answered the other officer I was let through to the baggage claim.

I did not expect Canadian immigration procedure to be that strict.

Quoting adamspotter (Reply 1):
Having asked for an high floor room I got the 7th (out of 17) floor and room 723:

Nice and roomy. BTW, what is the baby cot doing there?

Thanks for sharing. I especially like your pictures of Toronto.

Have a nice Sunday,
Suryo
