BOG " El Dorado" -new- International terminal:

As many of you know, BOG is building a new terminal, which the first phase for the international terminal is already in service.
I had the pleasure of use it back in December and I was able to take some pics, specially on my return leg.
Unfortunately, on my arrival to BOG in december it was very hectic with my camera phone on the suitcase and I was not able to take pics of immigration and the great new luggage belts area, which is really good.

Some of the pics of my return flight BOG-MIA on American:

Check in area:

After immigration, went to look for the VIP rooms, but unfortunately they are not ready yet, but on a mezzanine level with a small food court and I was able to take this pic of one of the gates:

From the same level, another perspective:

Below the duty free corridor and above what will be AV's or LA's VIP room and we can see the elevator:

Small Food Court on the mezzanine level:

Detail of the chairs. Plastic but comfortable (exactly the same at the new terminal at Heathrow):

Looks very nice, thanks for posting the photos.

Do you know when they plan to finish it? I'm passing through BOG in early May, so I will have a chance to try it out then.

Regards,
Blaž

Epale RICARIZA,

Thanks for posting. I hadn´t seen the new terminal from the landside only airside.

This new terminal is a wonderful thing for Colombia and for Bogota in general. I´m glad they did this. I have to be honest though that for a city like bogota ion 6 to 7 years this terminal will be small.

I´ve been wondering about AV and LA´s lounges. I know AV has a ¨temporary lounge¨, it would be wonderful to know where they lounges would be. Mostly for me I would be interested to see the new LA lounge as Admiral´s club members will be allowed to that one.

Best regards and thanks for sharing.

Miguel.

Hola Miguel,
Currently, both temporary lounges are very close to each other, right after you pass security, after the first set of duty free shops, you see a sign in front of gate # 28 (Take a look at the third picture)

The thing is LAN is not currently accepting Admirals memberships nor Priority Pass, but they let you in based on your AAdvantage (One World) status and Business Class travelers of course. This might change once the real VIP lounge is ready.

AV's currently accepts Priority Pass, Business Class travelers and also based in your Star's status.

Then, both permanent lounges will be on the mezzanine level (4th floor) above the duty free shops.

One thing i liked is the free wi-fi all over the terminal.. I think it is a nice touch.

I definitely took advantage of the free wi-fi when I was there in January. I found the terminal to be very efficient, clean, and easy to navigate.

I had two complaints, though: the AV domestic terminal is a long hoke from the new Int''l Terminal - and the busses between them don''t run at all hours - and there is no (absolutely no!) seating in the departure check-in area. I always need a place to sit and rearrange things before I check in...

Thanks for the write-up. I was just there though and the actual operational elements are disastrous. While departure is fairly OK, arrival process is nightmarish with waits of over an hour to get bags, and over an hour to get a taxi. Moreover, roof seems to have started leaking. Here are some pictures from last week showing some taxi lines and the rain sneaking through. Other than that, a VAST improvement over the old BOG.

Saludos,
Alex

Beautiful terminal.

Last week in Madrid there were 3 Avianca aircraft. Nice to see where they were heading. Actually one was going to Cali.

Just to clarify, these last two pictures are from the construction site and the temporary connection between the domestic terminal and the new international terminal (T2). I agree with you that there are many procedures that are not working properly (intervals of buses between terminals, taxi lines, etc), there is a lot of questioning in the media producing several investigation from the authorities. Both the operators of BOG and the Civil Aviation Authority have made promises about fixing those procedures shortly.

I went through there a few weeks ago while working a BOG-JFK flight and was very impressed. Does anyone know if there are any areas for spotting and photography in the public areas in this new terminal?

Thanks for posting!

Hi Ricariza,

I got an email from Admiral's Club with the following:

*****

As we move our operations to the new international terminal, the Bogotá Admirals Club will permanently close its doors on October 18, 2012.

While there will be no lounge access available for Admirals Club members and oneworld qualifying guests for a period of time, we are excited to announce that Admirals Club members and their guests plus oneworld qualifying guests will enjoy access to a new LAN lounge when it opens in spring 2013.

*****

So I guess we'll be able to use LA's lounge for sure pretty soon.

Best regards,

Miguel.
