It’s not much of a written report so I’ll try to let the pictures tell the story.
Los Angeles International (KLAX/LAX) – Taipei International (RCTP/TPE)
EVA Air Flight 1 (BR 1)
Boeing 747-400 Combi
B-16408
Scheduled Departure – 2340, Actual – 2345, Airborne – 0005
Scheduled Arrival – 0600, Actual – 0514, Gate – 0520
Super First Class
LAX - Gate 110 for Gate 205, TPE – Gate C7
Check-in was fast and smooth. I went to the temporary first class lounge for a short while before heading through security. The gate this evening was used to ferry us by bus to the remote gates. I happened to be on the final bus and the doors were soon closed behind us. I received a cool towel and pre-departure drink of OJ. The captain welcomed us aboard and announced the flight was scheduled for 13+09 hours. This proved quite prescient.
After reaching our initial cruising altitude of FL280, the crew sprang into action for dinner service. Dinner service began 50 minutes after departure and ended 40 minutes later.
Menus were already placed at our seats prior to boarding.

We arrived well ahead of our scheduled time. Several other flights landed around this time and there was a large back-up at the transfer security line. Through security, I headed to the lounge for a shower and change of clothes.

Great trip report! I loved the pics..
I've flown EVA before and they really are a great airline.
The First product seems great except for those old seats - but I guess with BR phasing them out it won't really be a problem.

Thanks for sharing! I have to say that I was not very impressed about the meals, they did not look like F-class meals, very mediocore presentation in my opinion.

Great pics - thanks for sharing. Although the fruit looked a bit dissapointing and not much privacy in the first cabin. I would have expected seat dividers of some kind especially in first.

yeah- i think i'll pass on this F product. Doesn't look much like what I think a F product should be. Hope it didn't cost you much.

What did you have with the main course (not the vegetables or meat but the grain that looks like round rice grains)? Looks like a grain I've been looking for but can't remember the name--it's definitely not quinoa.

No, no but there was a 6-inch PTV in the arm rest, no, I received one but didn't take pics.

It was a very light pasta-type food that melted in the mouth. I cannot recall what it was named in the menu but it wasn't rice.
Let it be known that EVA Air is getting rid of their F product with the introduction of their B773ERs. Their B744 fleet will be down to 3 frames in the next year or two. They will consist of a C, Y+, and Y product.
