Got to the airport an hour before the 8PM takeoff to find my colleauge at the self-checkin terminals. We chose our seats & headed for the bag drop-off. There was a fairly long queue which soon cleared. The flight boarded on time, and it was a packed flight. Interestingly, there were only 2 rows of business class on this flight, although MEL-ADL is a bit over an hour. The service was good & professional, being a weekday flight after 4PM, beer & wine were free! A small snack was also served, some wierd oatmeal buscuits with a dip...... We landed in Adelaide no probs & we were at our hotel by 9:30. After this, we met up with another mate who flew over that morning, at his 5-star hotel. (which shall remain nameless, but let's just say that the founder's descant recently did jail time) He had made a complaint to management as he had to drag his bags up to his room on the 18th floor on his own. He got a free bottle of champers for his efforts, which we helped finish off!
The terminal at Adelaide airport is only a year or so old, and it's much nicer than MEL. And a first for Adelaide, airbridges! It's also close to the city. After checking in, it was off to the Qantas club for a beer before boarding, which eased the self-inflicted pain from the previous night!. As an intersting aside, both my boarding passes had CIP under the service information field. I'm not in the frequent flyer program, but would this be due to the tickets being purchased on a coroprate account? (QBT) It was another full flight, being a Friday afternoon. As before, free booze & a snack were served (a museli bar & chick peas?????) After arriving back in MEL, it was off to the Qantas club again for another beer while we waited for our bags. all in all, not a bad week, and I'm thinking seriously about looking at moving over there! The people at the office were great, lots of great looking women as well. When in ADL, I would also reccomend the Union hotel on Waymouth St, a few doors down from our office. Great meals at good prices & I got suckered in by the cocktail list. The Martinis there are damn good. Looks like another trip there is in the works for a couple of weeks time.....

I've done the same trip again this week, with one exception, the flight back home from ADL (QF692) was operated with a 767 instead of the usual 737. Repositioning flight perhaps? The 767 interior was looking a tad tired, but the service from the crew was good for a short flight.
