Flew down to visit our relatives for a mini vacation over the July 4th holiday. This would be my first trip on Allegiant, and I have heard good things about them. We checked in around 9:30am, and it was a breeze, then headed over to security. That went by quick too. Everything was fairly smooth this morning. Normally when I fly I like the first flight of the day around 6am, and CID is always busy then as all of the outbound hub flights to places like ORD, MSP, ATL, DFW, STL, DTW, DEN and CVG leave about the same time. Since our SFB flight was mid-morning (10:50am) and because it was the 4th of July we got to bypass that. Once we made it thru the security checkpoint we headed up to gate C5 where we would board. Our flight would be full today. We had got priority boarding, and I was glad we did. We were off on time, taking of to the west then quickly turning southeast. Our route would take us southeast over southern Illinois, Kentucky, then over the Nashville area, Atlanta, then down to Jacksonville where we followed the Atlantic Coastline before we turned back towards SFB. Here are some pics enroute, the Mississippi River crossing into Illinois, downtown Atlanta, the Atlantic coast of FL, descent into SFB and SFB airport. Service was great, I decided to purchase a diet pepsi. Everything on G4 is buy on board, but I could not complain since the service was good and our airfare was a good rate.
Flight home was full again too. Once again we had priority boarding. Our flight home would take us west out of Orlando to the Gulf Coast just north of Tampa, then we would turn north over the Gulf and come back in on the panhandle side over Tallahassee, over AL, TN, KY and southern IL near the St Louis area.
Overall I was very pleased with Allegiant, and will be flying them again this fall to LAS.

Quoting National757 (Reply 4): Hey CIDFlyer..just noticed your TR. Thanks for the pics..excellent addition to a good trip report!
Quoting National757 (Reply 4): That's a steal! How convenient was the airport in Sanford? Was it out of the way of where you wanted to go?
I thought the SFB airport was very convenient. We were actually going down to Lake Wales to visit family, so it was a little farther than MCO, but we took the toll road that bypasses Orlando to the east and south, and I did see that Disney was 47 miles from where we got on near SFB, but it really did not seem like it took us that long to get out to that area, maybe about 35-40 minutes (we drove past on our way to Lake Wales). The night before our flight back we booked a hotel up in Altamonte Springs about 10 miles from the airport, and it was a pretty easy drive back to SFB in the morning. All in all, although SFB may be a little farher out than MCO, the time spent getting there non stop versus connecting in ORD, ATL or DFW it was worth flying there, and we decided this would be our only way to go down there on future trips. Plus the SFB airport was very clean and modern and easy to navigate.
