We were delayed because of weather in NYC, but rather quickly after flight door was closed we taxiied out. There was another delay, because ATC was giving us new routing to MIA as prior flights experienced major turbulance. I was disappointed as I love turbalunace. I cant help it. This was prime time to watch arrivals and departures from my window.
I wasn't upgraded to first as we were oversold and full to the rim. One important thing I did notice was that my name was not on upgrade list at the airport, and I questioned gate agent as to why. I had put in for upgrade when I bought ticket as I normally do, it did not carry over to airport once airport was in control of flight. I said I never had this problem out of JFK or any other flight for that matter. I took it a step further and called AA's platinum hotline and they explained to me that I must put in for an upgrade at airport if I was not upgraded in the normal 72 hours before flight. I said this was news to me, thanks for your help and decided to sit down in my exit row seat and sitesee to Miami.
The trip itself was great as we experienced turbulance for most of the flight so bad (and this was the new routing) that the 1st class cabin did not get their meals until 40 minutes prior to landing! The poor flight attendants were rushing like mad. I opted for the $3 cookie, something to hold me over before I met family for dinner in Boca Raton. AA could use some additional options with their BOB. I noticed so many people buying food...they could potentially make some great money on this.

This flight was like going from a Yugo car to a Honda. AA's 757's as we all know are quite dumpy and I personally am looking forward to them being refurbed. The 738 was in great shape, carpet was clean, air smelled better etc..bathrooms was were actually very clean.
This time I was upgraded, but I made sure I called Friday evening to re-submit my upgrade. It was confirmed no minute I made the phone call.
The FA cabin crew was MIA based, and I could tell immediately, the pilots were LGA based. The FA's were not very personable etc. I know JFK has a names initiative in premium cabins, which to be quite honest is something small but means a lot when you are referered to by your name and not behind the curtain as the "UPGRD" in seat 6B (that was my seat).
We came up the Hudson river which was great and the pilots gave the plane a slight tilt and we literally were staring into TIMES square. As a native New Yorker (I almost starting singing), I still to this day love the view. Its so amazing. After heading up Hudson River we made a pretty quick turn (not quite making it to Yonkers as is normally the case on busy days), and proceeded into LGA. The touch down did seem a little late, as we kept jerking in our seats and the passenger next to me made eye contact with me and you could read his mind...are we heading onto the Grand Central Parkway?????? I knew better...poor guy.
Needless to say, I was in my car 4 minutes after arrival, and was home at 5:05pm. Great timing since I left my relatives house at 11:40am.
Cheers and Enjoy! Pictures to follow!
