So the day arrived. It was Saturday 11th and it was time to wake up really early and go directly to T-4 in Barajas. I woke up at 5 a.m, take a little breakfast and ran as fast as I could to the Metro.

After 5 minutes waiting the train arrived to the station. I got into it and after a lot of connections I arrived to the T-4 station at 6:45 without any problems.

I took some pictures while I was on my way to Iberia’s counters.

Then I arrived to the check in area which was very crowded. As my flight was a national one I had to check in myself in the Auto Check in desk. When it was time to select my seat my face was really funny… I was the last one to check in for the flight and the only seat available was the 9B. No window seat for me. I must say I was really impressed because the Iberia’s Auto check in is very easy to operate and really fast. It didn’t take much longer than 2 minutes to get my boarding pass and my baggage ticket.

Then it was time to drop off my baggage in the belt. This took me a lot of time cause there was a huge line. Right after I watched my clock and it was already 7:15 so I had to hurry up a little bit because T-4 is really big and I didn’t know where was my gate.

I arrived to the security point at 7:30. I passed it really fast and then took all my belongings and started a race to gate H8 (Which was one of the last gates of the terminal). Don’t ask me but I could manage to take some pictures on my way to the gate.

Anyway, after I ran like an athlete I arrived to the gate at 7:45. Gave my boarding pass to the lady at the desk and walked through the jet bridge to my plane. When I was inside I noticed that the flight was almost full. From my perspective it was 95% loaded. Then I walked through the aisle and found my seat 9B. As I was one of the last one to board the plane the 9C and 9A were already occupied. But that didn’t stop me to ask to the lady in 9A if she was willing to change the seat with me. She accepted without complaining and now I was on a window seat. I had just put my seat belt on when the F.A closed the doors and started the demonstration of the security of the airplane. The pushback begun at 8:00 and at 8:05 we were on the taxiway with our engines on. As it was really early in the morning there was not too much traffic in the airport. We achieved the runway at 8:10 and then it was our time for takeoff.

The climb out was really fast and smooth. Madrid looks really big from the sky. I made an investigation of this plane and I discovered that it was an Ex-Mexicana plane here is a picture of the cabin. The leg room was quite nice too.

When we reached our cruising altitude the F.A offered the in flight service which was only for purchase. Thank god I took breakfast before. Here is a picture of the “Menu”.

The flight was very relaxing but really short to realize it. 15 minutes after the cabin crew ended the in flight service the captain started to descend. The F.A made the last check before landing and at 8:48 we were on finals to Lavacolla Airport in Santiago de Compostela.

We touched down at 8:53 and arrived to the gate at 8:55 (15 minutes before our schedule). The flight was very fast and pleasant. The people disembarked de plane quickly and in a very organized way.

I walked through the little terminal on my way to the baggage claim. A picture inside the terminal and then another picture from the baggage claim.

As I was the last one to check in my baggage was the first one to come out, what a luck!. Then I went outside and there was already my cousin waiting for me.

Santiago is a wonderful city. I just love it. Here are some impressions of it.

After 10 amazing days in Galicia it was time to continue with my entire trip. Next stop Barcelona! The city of Gaudi and the worst soccer team in the world! (Jajaja just kidding)
I’m really excited with this part of the trip because Barcelona has always been one of my “must be there” cities, so I was just looking forward for it.

The day finally arrived.

I woke up at 06:30 as Lavacolla is near my family’s house it doesn’t take too much time to arrive.

We reached the airport at 07:10 and the IB’s counters were pretty empty. I just had one person in queue before me. I made the check in and the lady at the counter told me that I had 2 Kgs of baggage excess, so I had to pay 12 Euros for it.

Everything was ok. she gave my boarding pass with my seat which was the 23F. At 08:00 I said goodbye to my relatives and went inside the departure lobby. I passed through the security points quickly and then I was on gate 02 waiting to board.

When I was there I surprised myself because there was no jet bridge which means it was a remote stand. Just my luck! The boarding process started at 08:20 so we were a little bit delayed. While I was walking to the baby I could take some pictures.

I board it from the rear gate and then I sat down waiting for departure. Doors were closed at 08:55 and right after the captain started the engines and apologized himself for the delay. He told us that it was due some ATC problems in Lavacolla (BTW the captain was Portuguese, so his Spanish was very basic).

The F.A made the usual safety demonstration as we were taxing to the runway. They were a real beauty, nothing to deal with IB’s F.A which I personally hate. We reached the runway at 09:14 and made an immediate takeoff. Here is the video.

The climb out was a little bumpy, but it was a normal thing considering that it was a rainy day. We reached our cruising altitude 20 minutes later and the F.A started the food for purchase service. As I had a “Bocata” on my bag I didn’t buy anything. The flight was full of turbulence which I find very entertaining. It seems that I was the only one enjoying it because the rest of the passengers were pretty scared in fact some of them screamed.

After 20 minutes of turbulence the captain announced that we were near Barcelona so he started to descend the plane. If everyone were scared with the turbulence this was worst. The captain made a brutal descend (I didn’t know why) that felt like an elevator going down without brakes. Again a lot of passengers screamed while I was with a smile from cheek to cheek.

Ten minutes later we were on finals to BCN “El Prat”. We made our final approach from the beach so it was an amazing experience. Here is the video of the landing.

While we were taxing to the terminal I took some pics.

The disembark process was really fast and finally I was in Catalunya. Here are some impressions from the city.

As the flight was a little bit late I decided to call a friend of mine to go out for lunch and to give a last go around in the city. He took me to the airport at 20:00 (A lot of time before the flight).

I went directly to Terminal C where Air Nostrum counters are. I made my check in as usual and as I was the first one to check in for the flight I chose seat 3F. Right after I passed the security point without any problems. Then I made a loooooooooong walking through the terminal just to see if there was something interesting. Here are some pics (Sorry about the quality. It was already dark.)

After walking and walking, it was time to go to my gate in Terminal C. I went downstairs where Air Nostrum gates are and waited for the call. At 22:30 the Air Nostrum’s ground staff called for boarding. As we were a small number of passengers the boarding was quite fast. Then a bus took us to our Dash and here are some pictures of the EC-IIB:

In the gate an Iberia agent asked me for my hand bag because the cabin was too small to take it on board so he put it on the baggage deposit. I boarded the small beauty and sat down on my seat. Here is a view of it.

Few minutes later the only two F.A of the flight closed the doors and started the demonstration of the safety instructions. “El Prat” is a huge airport so it took us some time to reach the runway. At 23:03 we were in the head of the runway and cleared for takeoff. The video:

The climb out was really smooth and is really impressing to see the fear of the Dash go up from the window. Minutes later the F.A started to serve the in-flight service which wasn’t bad considering the previous flights. I chose a coke and some cashews, but there were more options (Almonds, Peanuts, etc).

Later the F.A passed again cleaning up the cabin and giving some wet towels to clean our hands (First class service for a regional flight I must say).

Some moments later the seatbelt sign turned on to inform us that we were near VLC. The plane descended little by little and made a low pass through the city before landing in Manises. Here is the video:

After the landing the plane taxied to the gate and everybody disembarked the plane. I waited for my hand bag and then went inside the terminal to wait for my other luggage. Here are some pictures:

Right after that I went outside to pick up a cab and finally I was in “La Comunitat Valenciana”.

Well it was time to say goodbye to VLC. I went to the airport that day pretty early because I was staying in the house of a friend of mine and she had to work so I had to leave the house with her at 9:00. Anyway as any other airplane freak being at the airport with a lot of time before my flight wasn’t a problem at all. I arrived to Manises at 09:30 (5 hours before my flight), I made my check in and seat assignment in the auto-check in machines. Then I took my luggage with me and went to the counters just to see if I could check it. The lady at the counter told me that as I was pretty early and considering that there were a few flights to MAD before mine, she suggested me to wait till 12:30 to leave my baggage. So I decided to take it with me till noon. Then my baggage and I went upstairs to see some airplanes and take some pictures.

Departure Area

Some IB’s A300

Some planes

The time passed really fast and when I looked at my watch it was already 12:50, so I went to Air Nostrum’s counters again and they checked in my baggage. Then I passed through the security points and went to the boarding gate. At 14:30 they called us for boarding. Here are some pictures of the ramp and then my little baby.

Before boarding I gave my hand luggage to the ground staff again because the cabin was too small. I boarded and then I sat down in my window seat. Minutes later the F.A made the usual safety demonstration and then the captain turned on the engines. We taxied through the terminal and the ramp just to reach the runway at 14:50. As there was some traffic before us we had to wait 5 minutes for takeoff. After a Ryanair’s 737 it was our time to takeoff. Here is the video.

I was really impressed with the CRJ…it was really silent. The takeoff was perfect without any bumping. As the flight was really short we reached our cruising altitude 10 minutes later. Then the F.A started the service. In this occasion it was only a drink without any peanuts. But I can’t complain for a 40 minutes flight. Here is a photo.

At 15:25 the cabin crew cleaned up and a minute later the captain started the approach to Barajas. He turned on the seat belt sign and we were on finals. Here is the video of the landing.

After the touch down the plane taxied to its gate. Everybody disembarked the plane and I waited for my hand luggage as usual. When I received it I went upstairs to wait for my other baggage.

Here comes the funniest part…after waiting for about an hour in the belt my bag never came out. I went to the Customer Service office and reported it as lost and they gave me a ticket with my tracking number. So I was in MAD and I had a flight to TFS the next day and I didn’t have any clothing with me! Just my luck!

Hola Cybergus!

Thanks for your trip reports. I've read the three of them and look really intersting and it seems you had a great time in Spain.

It is always nice to see one's city in TR and hear about other people's experiences.

Just one thing: you are quite wrong in thinking that R. Madrid  redflag  is the best team in the world.

Visca el Barça!  Wink

Salut!
