Since my last trip to Manchester I have been itching to go there again. Would have flown with Malaysian again, but they stopped flying to Manchester, so Singapore Airlines was the next best option.

The night before we printed out our boarding passes on the Singapore Airlines website. That was easily done, however the next day when we checked in at the airport, both of us our hand luggage was 1.1 kg overweight and the check in staff were adamant that it had to be 7 kg or less. Surely they could cut some slack if it is only 1 or 2 kg over. I was worried that my camera bag would have to go into the hold, but by taking the camera out it was now under the 7 kg limit. After that drama it was plain sailing.
Boarding was done in an orderly manner. Takeoff was smooth with some condensation forming over the wing.
First meal served was either beef or chicken. I had the beef. The next meal was a light refreshment of either a chicken and mushroom pie or some seafood thing. I had the pie and both tasted quite good, but with the amount of things on the tray it can be difficult not to knock anything off.

This flight was mostly at night except for the landing in Manchester.
Managed to get some sleep, but is not the most comfortable place to sleep. At first we had the three seats to ourselves, so w could spread out a bit, but during the night a passenger elsewhere on the plane was not feeling the best so dad was woken up and moved over so this person could sit in the aisle seat.
First meal was beef fillet and the breakfast was an omelette.
After 13 hours I was glad to get off the plane. Going through customs at Manchester was very easy and fast, however getting the hire car was another story, as they said the car would be in one location and it was not so after much walking back and forth it was sorted out about 1 hour later.
After that we drove straight to the viewing park and spent the day there.
Reports from my Amsterdam trip and a couple of light aircraft flights as well as part2 are coming later on.
