My first TR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Date Aug 13 & Aug 23

Aircraft E175-A333-A333-CR2

I arrived at the ALB to find my flight delayed, UGHHHHH!!!!!!!!! If only they didnt close the US Club, I could go get a drink.

I couldn't get a pic of the new E175 in new colors cause my batteries were broke but, 15 min late dept. same republic airlines boarding music, same safety recording, but no service. They applogized with there complments. But yet, an off duty flight attendent helped her self to coffee. She is not a flight attendent, yet a passenger. It is unfair to me to offer her beverages.

Flight:3265
Time 52 mins.
Meal-NONE!! =(

I arrived in PHL, to find that my flight to LGW was delayed for 30 mins because maitnacnce was changing cockpit computers. 30 mins went up to 45 mins than down to 25 mins. I got some batteries for my camera, and a magazine.

Big version: Width: Height: File size: 0kb

We finnally boarded and were welcomed with helpful FA'S. It took like an hour for every-one to board. Loads were 100%. Flight time was 6hr 52 min. Can you believe they made me pay 5$ for heaphones? Not only that but my PTV was not working =( Dinner soon came around after that. Choice of meal was Pasta Putnesca or a Beef Brisket. Pasta was very tasty!!!!! =) Since I couldnt watch TV, I decided to sleep, but then I remembered that i sleep on my belly.

Since I couldnt sleep, I moved up to the bulkhead as the PTV was working up there. After lying awake for hours, the crew came around with the "sunshine service'' which was supposed to be a light breakfast, but really only was a doughnut. The lady next to me slipped my coffee, so I had coffee smelling plants.

After that we shortly had landed.

Flight Experience-7

Service-9

Overall, this was a very delightful flight except for my tv and breakfast. The crew was so kind, and dinner was good.

I'll be posting my next report soon.

Cheers

Interesting start as a 1st TR, a little more detail certainly helps us imagine travelling with you.

PHL-ALB is a no-service route, per USAirways, not Republic. Also, I always take care of off-duty crew members commuting to/from work/vacation. If we don't take care of each other - nobody else will. Unless it was unsafe for the flight attendants working the flight to offer a service - their announcement should have included "beverages will be served by request" - meaning its up to you to make your desire for a beverage known. And if you do not, you cannot hold that against the flight attendants or the company.

um, not to sound critical, but since when does any airline charge for headphones on an intl flight? every intl flight i've ever been on, they're free, is US different?

Why are people so against low yields?! If lower yields means more people can travel abroad, i'm all for it

Well that is a nice gesture though it is a slap in the face to paying passengers. After all without paying passengers they would be no commuting crew members.

I don't think its a slap in the face to anyone. The flight is no-service. It says so when you book your ticket. They'll tell you when you check-in. No one is going to make me feel bad for taking care of a coworker. I'm sure you would do the same. Like I said, the announcement made inflight instructs passengers to inform the crewmember of their desire for a beverage. I take care of any and all passengers who ask me for something. I even walk through the cabin multiple times no matter how short the flight. Unfortunately, its just not possible to serve 86 people on a 25 minute flight.

no its not, it depends what kind of aircraft your on. If your plane has less than 70 pax its likely that they'll be service. When I was comming home, they offered soda and pretzels. In 01, I flew the route on a 734, and they provided service. Now if you fly the route on mainline, its very unlikely that there will be service.

2001 vs 2007 will have seen significant change in service (especially since US was bankrupt twice between the periods). That's not a good comparison.

Republic runs it as a no service route if I am not mistaken due to stage length. LGA-PHL is the same way. So are many other routes like some of ours out of CLT. Some of the inter Carolina services are "by request only".

If we're honest with ourselves, I think most of us in any industry would. But, it LOOKS different if the co worker is out of uniform. In that case, it appears as service to a pax.

Second, as to beverage, it is possible the FA simply forgot to read the "ask for beverage" notice. People do make mistakes. It could be as simple as that.

And this is a short flight.

I once saw an AA flight DFW -- Santiago Chile......BEV ONLY main cabin (left I think 9 pm, arrive next AM......no b'fast)

That is sad service.

Nonsense......Domestic India 9W serves a meat or vegan FULL MEAL, pre take off drink, and 2 coffee runs on a 738 100% full.....and yes, that was in Y.

Kingisher gave a hot meal on a 45 min flight w/ double drink runs.

On 25 min flights, we got a drink service.

Well, lets discuss the 25 minutes of "air-time". At least 15 minutes of that flight is conducted below 10,000 feet. Both flight attendants must remain seated, per FARs. In the 10 minute above 10,000 feet (if we even break it - which we rarely do on some of those shorter flights within the Carolina's mentioned above) you have to set up a cart, get it into the cabin, and begin serving.

First, and foremost, our service standards are handed down to us from USAirways. They set the guidelines. Second, on SOR flights, which PHL-ALB is, we don't even get catered. Half of the time, there isnt even ice onboard the aircraft. You can't provide a beverage service without catering! Further, there isn't time *after* the service to restock and clean up the cart so you can provide the same service on the return leg.

If I could do a service on every flight, I would. And I am not a lazy flight attendant, either, by not providing one. I follow the guidelines set forth by my company on each and every leg. And I am actually quite adimant about providing service when service is due (because their are far too many flight attendants out there who would rather stay seated from PHL-PIT rather than perform a limited beverage service).

The flight attendants working your flight from ALB did nothing wrong, unless they didn't make the part of the announcement about requesting a beverage - which the OP has yet to discuss with us.

And EWRCabinCrew - how many FAs are on your plane? The more hands, the lighter the work. Just curious.

No implication that you are. But I still say that "beverages served by request" is lazy. To me, this means, no one is asking, so a service will not be done. No matter how many flight attendants there are. Again, just me. You still try.

[quote=SafetyDemo,reply=18]Further, there isn't time *after* the service to restock and clean up the cart so you can provide the same service on the return leg.[/quote

Ground time.

Our service standards are just different. That is all. Different. Not better, not worse, just different. Our service standards are any flight :30 or more scheduled flight time gets a beverage service.

Very humble apologies to USAirALB for side-tracking things here. The banter not related to your post should be moved to another thread.

Okay. So the flight we're discussing doesn't even apply! We don't do service-standards by flight-time at my airline. It is all based on mileage. Six of one, a half dozen of the other.
