and welcome to my second trip report. It continues from my first one Syrian Boeing 747SP DAM - DXB Pics/Vids (by OHLHD Dec 15 2007 in Trip Reports) and tells the story about my flight back to Switzerland on a absolutely fanatastic A340-500. It was btw my first flight on a A345.
As the ground staff at DXB wont let me take an picture of the whole aircraft I will use one from the database:
Flight: Emirates EK085 DXB - ZRH
A/C: Airbus A340-500
The load was light and most of the Economy section was empty ( I counted about 60 passengers) however the First and the Business Class were slam-packed, completly full and at the departure gate were a few guys with Waitlist Business Class tickets who would not manage to get into Business Class. So to say, i suppose this was a super high-yield flight.

Thanks for your TR.
EK has two daily flights to ZRH, mostly both on A340-500s...I was told several times that certain Swiss companies buy out the whole first/ biz section of the EK flight - hence the -500 version as they offer the better product than the A330...
must be great to have empty seats in the Y section...
Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.

That is true, I think it is lawyers that have a special agreement with them. They fly EK in First ( hence the superseats) instead of private jets.
Quoting PlaneHunter (Reply 2): I flew DXB-SYD on A6-ERJ last year and it was nice - but I still prefer shorter flights with a stop. 13-14 hours is a very long time in Eco, even on a well-equipped bird.
Me too. This is why I choose DXB-ZRH. I am not a fan of ultra longhaul.
That was a great surprise. Thank god I had my second camera in my hand.

Thanks for the report! It sounds you really enjoyed the flight.
I have made one trip on EK, last year MUC-BKK-MUC on A332 and B777. The triple seven was great, especially the fantastic ICE, the old A-Bus less comfortable. Fab meals on both, was great I could pre order fish in Y.
