NEW ONE :::

http://i269.photobucket.com/albums/jj59/swissrun/CIMG8648.jpg

See here copy of my post on the Irish threads about this flight.

I got my boarding cards DUB-ZRH-ATH . I was not really paying attention until I went to fast track and was denied entry as there was a Y on my boarding card instead of C . I went back to check in and they realised the flight was loaded in for check in as ALL economy. WTF ???? Then she gave me a new boarding card with same seat number on it but it said C and Business class on it. Anyway after spliting my time in Anna Livia and BMI lounges I went to the boarding gate and got on. It all snowballed from there on . There was alot of activity by Sky handling boarding gate staff who were the same girls as check in . Then they started walking up and down the aircraft with passenger lists. Then a supervisor with a high Viz Swiss jacket came on and started talking to the crew and pilot. Then three passengers were called over the PA. Then more running up and down the cabin. The crew made an announcement apologising for the delay and said they would contact ZRH to sort out any connection issues. Then they called the same 3 passengers again and aksed them how many bags they checked.

Another ten minutes passed and 1 of the 3 passengers was called again . By this time she was a bit peed off . Over hearing the conversation between the crew and the Sky (mis) handing agents , the check in had messed up big time and checked the same passenger in 3 times in 3 different seats . Also the bags didnt add up . Anyway I felt really sorry for the crew as they were so embarrassed. Then Skyhanding came into the J class cabin and asked all of the passengers their name and ticked off on a printed list .

Finally after nearly an hour we pushed back . The head FA came over the PA and said sorry for the delay and he said he wanted to explain the reason for the long delay as he believed we had a right to know. I was very impressed by this and I didn't blame Swiss at all anyway . It was sheer incompetence on Sky Handlings part. There were serious words between the pilot and the Sky Handling supervisor and I'm sure it wont end there . The Swiss pride themselves on good time keeping. Also I realise that when I got to ZRH no frequent flyer number on my boarding cards and the lady in the Swiss lounge just re issued the next one. They really need to get their act together in Dublin.

The flight itself was excellent and the crew were great and the service was top class. Lots of Lindt chocolates and good coffee and a fab meal.....

A Winter wonderland !!!

With all the hassle and delays I didnt do a photo report for this flight .

We landed around an hour late but I still wanted to go into the city . I took the train and was there in 20 mins.

Great TR as always...

I love the approach into Zurich. Its always very scenic. I have visited several times but last January got to land in the snow. I was very impressed with the pilots.

Hello, Philip,

another interesting story and also pix from your travel experiences.

Once again LX offers a good product to their customers.

For me, it´s time to leave this "Winter wonderland" as soon as possible now, much enough cold and snow the

last days, around four weeks to go for my first leisure trip 2008.

Athens is also on my list for early March, you know, it seems the Aegean leg is operated by one of the

fairly new A320's.

It is open for all C class passengers. They give you an invitation at check in . Its a lovely lounge I have to say.

Hi Philip

thanks for this report. Another great experience on LX. But here, also we see the handling company offering bad service to both airline and customers. LX can't be blamed, but the passenger is flying LX, so simply might think it's their fault. (I had also trouble with the LH/OS/BD handling company in AMS last time upon checkin).

The middle tables can be removed/fold away quite easily, but it's task of the crew or maintenance staff. But you might ask the crew to create 3 seats for you next time. When you won't try, you'll never win  Wink

More flights scheduled for the upcoming last days of the year ??  Smile

Cheers
Eric

Hi Philip,

Excellent TR as always. Definitely a joy to read. The landing video with the snow background was absolutely amazing.

Quoting OA260 (Thread starter):
It was sheer incompetence on Sky Handlings part.

Unfortunately, when ground handling is outsourced to a separate entity, it could really affect the desired quality standard by an airline. This is definitely the case for EY at AUH, since ground handling at AUH is done by ADAS.

I have never tried this setting before, but it doesn't look so bad. Apart from trying to sleep on 3 seats i guess. I know EY has a similar setting as LX on its narrow-bodies in Pearl Business.

brgds to everybody reading this - i m just in the swiss lounge at ZRH airport - also on a Mileage trip, but my routing was VIE-ZRH-CPH and back. Nice service and food - although the lounge in CPH IS MUCH BETTER THAN ZRH !!!

The best thing in ZRH is the longest bar - roughly 20m, smoking area ( yes, i am smoking ) and service with everything .... beer, several alcoholic drinks - have to leave now, my bacardi coke level is getting low .......

Haha I was wondering when someone would ask that !!! I took the photos to show how many . At this time of year just after Christmas Day Greeks tend to travel for citybreaks organised by travel agents in Athens. They have groups of around 500-600 on a mini package tour. Its quite a good idea and also makes it cheaper. They include tours and other things. Last year it was Vienna this year seems to be PRG!! The check in areas were packed . I was at first shocked myself until I remembered the date !!!
