Well I arrived at LAX around 615 due to no traffic and the check-in counter was busy, but the long line moved quickly. I checked all 59 pounds of my one big @$$ bag in with no problem. The dumb metal detector got my belt buckle...I had to debelt at LAX, but I'm used to that, also I was bringing my cousins a vase I made in ceramics and the security people had to unwrap it and ugh it was an ordeal. We boarded pretty quickly after I got there, but it took a while on the plane. A lady across the aisle, 11D, I was 11A [not a real window seat] wanted to swithc my window for her aisle to be with the 11b/c ppl, I said ok if she could get me another window, a flight attendant walked by and this happened...
me: "excuse me, she wants to switch seats with me, and I would but I'd really like a window, so is there another..."
flight attendant: "No!"
Well screw her...AA can boot her out on the street...maybe they'll transfer her and she'll have to be based and live in Dallas! ANyway why do airlines serve red meat and not another option? AS did this to me the week before, so all I ate for breakfast was a granola bar and a strawberry! the breakfast was eggs and gray sausage. Whatever, service was nothing special, and no one that helped/served me was nice in anyway, my TW flight to MSY in spring was so much better. I began to feel it wouldn't be a loss TW was going. but when we landed at JFK, a little late, after a long time turning out over the atlantic and I saw the proud Saarinen building and some, just a few TW planes I felt nostalgic again. Baggage took a while, whatever, I stopped on the way to take some pics of the terminal, and it was humid.
my month in NYC was great, I reallymiss it.

I got to JFK at 515 so I could take a bunch of pictures of the Saarinen terminal which I did. I checked in my now two heavy bags, the checker in lady wasn't especially nice. I took a bunch of pictures, in both black and white and color without ever getting hasseled. Then around 6 I was sitting in the lobby and heard 'final boarding for TWA 849 to Los Angeles' this freaked me out, I ran up the flight wing tunnel...with only taking one pic which pissed me off since thats what they're demolishing!
We left the gate at 628pm, the 757 had more room in coach which was depressing along with stupid American Way. The double globe wall carpeting is gone! Anyway the captain came on that we would be in line for 45 mins to take off, but that was ok, I had a ball looking at all the european departures. I was again on the good side of the airplane and had the airport view as we took off from 13R..thank you JFK gods. We took off around 715, dinner was scary chicken, I didnt touch it, oh well, c'est la vie. This flight crew was pleasant and helpful. We landed at LA around 920 because the flight was so padded I beat my parents to the gate. I stopped and asked the very nice pilot for the route map, which was different know, I wish I could have talked to him more but I was anxious to see my parents. I am now agian saddened by TW upcoming death.

If I gave you the impression that TWA was a bad airline - they're not, and if I gave the impression I don't like them - well its false..I just found this to be one of the poorest trips I've taken with them. In march when I flew them, in both coach and TWFirst their service [except leaving LAX at 12am was a fiasco] was so much better...like a different airline. TWA has been and will always be my favorite airline [along with AS and their shortcomings] but the flight out was pretty sad. I guess employees are no longer motivated to save their airline or present a good image.
2 quick things
-they served ice cream sandwhichs as dessert, by the time I got my meal [I was back in 31A] and picked at dinner [and ate my bagel I brought on] the ice cream had melted...isn't it kinda dumb to serve ice cream in coach?
Also why did AMR rename it TWA Airlines LLC? I understand LLC, but airlines, didn't it make it through their thick heads' down their in Texas the 'A' in TWA stood for 'airlines'?! Trans World Airlines Airlines?

I've only ever flown TWA back in 94 with Comfort Class... good memories.
Very valid point N960AS... that has been bugging me as well. Damn southern hotheads!
One good thing popped up out of the AMR acquisition: 4-free TWA flight segment upgrades for elites. My dad should be touchign down from St. Louie just about now, after being in TWFirst from SFO-STL-IND then DTW-STL-SFO... All thanks to me! He thought it was junk mail...
