SR687, 7th August, Malaga-Zurich, A321-100

sch. boarding: 1500 act. boarding: 1509
pushback: 1541
sch. take off: 1530 act. take off: 1554
sch. landing: 1805 act. landing: 1756

We arrived at Malaga's airport at 1340, from the apart-hotel that we were staying at, I would recommend it for anyone who wants to visit Marbella(Peurto Banus), we stayed in a two bedroom apartment for 11 nights and found it to be very comfortable, with a complete kitchen, washing machine, etc...the place is called Benebola and it costs approximately 450$ a night. Anyways check in was extremely efficient and we were in the waiting area within ten minutes. The flight was full today with very few empty seats here and there. Swiss chocolates were served prior to take off, which I thought was a nice touch. Take off was 25 minutes late. The cruising altitude was 35,000 feet and our flight path took us over the cities of Madrid, Toulouse, Lyon and Geneva. The pilot was very generous with information and he told us that the plane weighed 77.5 tonnes and that the take off speed would be 290 km/hr. The seats were very comfortable. 25 minutes after take off the meal service began which consisted of a beef dish with noodles and veggies along with a salad and a coffee mousse cake. As I don't eat beef (my sister doesn't either) the flight attendant found us two seafood meals which I suspect were from business class because they were presented in real china. There were two pieces of fish along with one mussel and a shrimp in a cream sauce with sauteed veggies. It certainly hit the spot. Landing was uneventful. We stayed for two nights at the Wellenberg Zurich. The hotel is excellent for a four star, the location is superb, right in the heart of the old town. Zurich struck me as a weird city the first night but the second day I realized what a funky city it really is. I like it alot. Bought alotta clothes from there.

SR926, 9th August, Zurich-Geneva, A321-100

sch. boarding: 1135 act. boarding: 1151
pushback: 1210
sch. take off: 1205 act. take off: 1230
sch. landing: 1250 act. landing: 1259
gate: 1302

Check in at Zurich airport was slow, it took us half an hour to get to the check in agent who was quite courteous. Once onboard we found our seats quickly and the doors were closed at 1210, the flight was around 60% full in Economy and practically empty in Business. We were 5th in line for take off. Ahead of us was a SAS MD80, 2 SR A320's and 1 SR A319. Cruising altitude was a strange 13,127 feet. We were served an extremely tasty snack (it was buttery and cheesy and obviously very fattening). Descent started at 1245. We were on the ground 14 minutes later. There was a very cute flight attendant on the flight today. We stayed at the Crowne Plaza Geneva, the hotel was alright but the location is ridiculous, it's too far from the city however it's right next to the airport so I had a good view of departing aircraft. I personally like Zurich more than Geneva although, Geneva was very live with the festival going on.

SR927, 12th August, Geneva-Zurich, A320-200

sch. boarding: 0755 act. boarding: 0805
pushback: 0827
sch. take off: 0825 act. take off: 0835
sch. landing: 0915 act. landing: 0918
gate: 0920

The plane arrived at 0745 so the turn around time was pretty fast for a european airline. The service on this flight was very minimal. It was around 60% full again with alot of pax connecting onwards to Dubai and some to places like LAX and ORD. They started a beverage service but they didn't have time to reach my row so I had to ask for an orange juice. There was another cute F/A on this flight. I took amazing pics of the Alps. Landing was uneventful again, and we were at the gate within a matter of minutes.

SR394, 12th August, Zurich-Dubai, A330-200

sch. boarding: 0950 act. boarding:0950
pushback: 1029
sch. take off: 1020 act. take off: 1048
sch. landing: 1820 act. landing: 1829
gate: 1833

Boarding started on time. Gosh, it was so depressing for me to be coming back after spending 16 days in awesome Europe, I have to admit it's my favorite continent. The people, the cities, everything's amazing there. Anyways the flying time was anounced to be 5 hours and 50 minutes. Cruising altitude was 37,000 feet and our cruising speed was around 930 km/hr. Take off was very smooth, we were third in line for take off. After us there was an AA B777 and a SR MD11 waiting for take off. Take off was very smooth. The seats were quite comfortable. The inflight entertainment was good, I watched friends, will and grace, and the emperor's new groove. After that I played a few games. Our flight path took us over Zagreb, Sofia, Istanbul, Ankara, Iran (70 miles southwest of Tehran) over Ishafan and finally over Shiraz. 30 minutes after take off a drink service was started, we got those fattening snacks again with drinks (I had a cola lite). 1 hour and 10 minutes after take off lunch service was started. There were two choices, chicken or pasta with tomato sauce. I had the chicken, it came with noodles, sauteed haricots verts (basically green beans), a slice of camembert cheese, a salad with a creamy dressing and chocolate mousse for dessert and of course a roll with butter. We were offered another roll after five minutes and another drink service. 2 hours after take off a third drink service started. 20 minutes after that they came around with those amazing swiss chocolates. They handed out 0.5 liter bottles of water(VITTEL) when we were in Zurich. 1.5 hours prior to landing we were offered water and movenpick ice cream (vanilla flavor). 35 minutes prior to landing hot towels were passed out. The descent into Dubai started at 1805 (Dubai time). We were on the ground 24 minutes later. we parked next to a Saudia B777 and an Air India A310. We were in the taxi on our way home at 1855. In economy class around 25% of the pax were continuing on to Kharachi and in Business class around 60% were continuing on to Kharachi, however Swissair has 5th freedom rights on the DXB-KHI leg of the journey so I'm sure the flight left to KHI with a full load (DXB-KHI is a popular route). My trip back to Dubai was a very pleasant one. Swissair is a very good airline, however for me British Airways is still the best. Thanks for reading my trip report. Sorry about the length of the report!

Avion they definately made up for the bad service that my family received at the beginning. Swissair's a very good airline especially on inter-european flights.

Zizou it's very depressing to be back, the weather's really bad and I really miss spain!

Marco, how could the weather be depressing? Its always sunny and hot in Dubai! Just how I like it...

Just out of interest, I was born in Dubai at Al Rashid Hospital back in 1981. Is it still there?

For me this hot weather is very depressing, it's too hot to do anything, but we're lucky coz this summer isn't as severe as last summer!

The Rashid hospital is still here! Last time I was there was like 5 years ago but I know for a fact that it's still here!

Glad that you had a great flight on swissair. They are a very good airline. Together with Crossair, those two airlines are the best in Europe. By far. Swissair provides excellent service, mostly better than other european airlines.
Greetings
Mike

Good to hear your report Marco. I expected your return trip to be a better one. I'll be glad if you can tell me how full was your flight from ZRH-DXB in all classes. Infact i too would be flying SR back to Boston from Karachi in a few days time and i would be stopping in DXB for a couple of days.... im sure it must be very hot but i hope i have a good time there.

Hey KHI747. The flight from ZRH-DXB was completely full in business and economy. Most of the business class passengers were continuing on to Karachi however only about a quarter of the economy class passengers were continuing on to Karachi. When I boarded I saw one man in first, first class looked amazing by the way, anyways I don't know how full first class was. Have a nice stay in Dubai and have a nice flight all the way to Boston.

Kind Regards,
Marco
