So I fancied a mini break to Frankfurt so I used some miles and got myself a round trip with LH in Business Class. I had not been to Frankfurt in nearly 2 years so I was looking forward to it . Whilst I was there I would take the oppertunity to visit some airline offices to obtain sales material.

I took the coach to Dublin Airport and was there at 0520am. I proceeded to check in which was fast an efficient.

I then went through the Fast Track line and into the BMI Diamond Club.













After a while it was time to go to the C gates to board. It was very busy and a group of around 60 Italian Rugby fans were waiting to board. They had been in Dublin for the game that weekend.





I was greeted by two friendly female crew.

















The crew came round the Business class cabin with pillows and blankets.







Shortly after that the pilot announced a delay of around 40 mins due to ATC slots . The crew came round and asked if we wanted a drink whilst we waited.



After a while we pushed back from the gate and proceeded to our take off position .









After take off no announcements . Maybe they didnt want to wake people up on this 0655am flight !!! The service started after the seat belt sign went out.





The meal was just ok . I like a hot breakfast but this was all cold. It was not bad though for a cold meal. The bread was hot and the coffee was excellent. The crew came round a few times offering drinks etc...













After a non eventful flight and a bit of sleep it was time to land .





































After landing I had a quick look around Terminal 1

German gift shop.

Time to go to the basement and catch the S Bahn train to the City. They have building works going on here and all the old supermarket and restaurants are closed . I used to shop at the supermarket there on many transits Via FRA over the years. Shame to see it gone .

If this was LHR or DUB it would be a small bucket !!! Not here in Germany .....they do everything properly !!!







Shortly after getting the train I was in the City center. I decided to go to the Nespresso Boutique as it was on my list.









Theres money in this street!!!















Finally I arrived at the Nespresso Boutique .













I bought a selection of coffee then left to go to SQ office.



















After getting some nice posters and brochures I took the train back to the central station . I saw a ICE train in the station so I decided to have a look onboard.







Outside Frankfurt HB



I went to Agean Airlines to see if they had some sales material and they were hopeless!! A timetable was all I got and they were busy eating and didnt seem to care.

Time to check in to my hotel and drop the bags . I then went to Olympic Airlines as it was only a few streets away.















The guy from sales gave me a really nice 2008 calender and some other brochures.

I then went to Turkish Airlines and they were the best . I was taken to the sales office and told to take whatever I wanted. There were posters/stickers/brochures/city maps and I got given a really nice diary. The staff were really friendly and we chatted about TK's entry into Star Alliance and Turkey in general. I was made to feel very welcome. I left with a big bag of goodies .























I also called into the offices of JAT / PIA and Ariana Afghan Airlines.



























That night I met with a friend who is studying in Frankfurt from Greece and we went to a really nice Asian restaurant.

The next morning I got up and had breakfast and decided to leave the hotel early to go spotting at FRA. I could have taken the ICE train for EUR11 but instead took the S Bahn for EUR 3.60 !!! I will do the ICE train another time .

I arrived at Frankfurt Flughafen and went to the check in area.









I went to the Priority check in area and used the self service machine.















I decided to go to the Senetor lounge to use the free lockers and store my bags before going to spot .





















The lounge was packed but some good food choices and good views of the planes.







I left the lounge and then decided to look at the UA Red Carpet Club.









I loved the homely feel of the Club but the food choice was very basic .













I walked out past passport control and went to see what they did to the old viewing area ::







Sadly all blocked off now ....



So I took the Skyline to Terminal 2 and paid EUR4 to get into the viewing gallery there. It was windy and raining alot and I was the only person at the viewing area. There is no shelter so I was getting wet. I stood in the door way and then a security guy came and started to chat to me. He was also interested in aviation and we had a good talk about many things. He said he saw the A380 when it came to FRA and that the 4th A380 of SQ is due to run to FRA.

I then took some photos and videos .







































Time to get the train back to Terminal 1







I then went through security and to the LH Senator lounge which was much more comfortable as not so many people were there .

After a while relaxing in the lounge it was time to go to the C gates to board.

I was impressed by this Plazma Standby info screen !!!







I was greeted by a friendly crew and took my seat . There were only myself and another in Business class today.







After boarding I moved to 2A .







We pushed back from the gate and made our way to the runway .























After take off the crew shortened the C class cabin by moving the dividers .







Then time for lunch !!! I was expecting a hot lunch but it was cold !!! Still it tasted quite nice and the coffee and chocolates were good.





I relaxed and slept for the rest of the flight . The LH magazine had some good articles in it. Also this was very interesting and sightseeing flights will start soon .

The crew came around with more drinks . Then the pilot announced we would be coming into Dublin and there were some thunderstorms.







We landed on time and were at the gate to disembark. I asked the crew for a photo. One was too shy but this one said it was ok LOL....





All in all it was a good experience and the crew were friendly and efficient. The lounge staff in FRA were really nice and helpful. I wish the food was better and will probably send them an email . A 2 hour flight in Business class should really mean a hot meal. Fares are around EUR 600 return DUB-FRA-DUB so its not cheap if you had to pay. The seats and cabins were really nice and comfortable.
