Hello Everyone,
It all started in mid January, as my family and I wanted to go on a day trip to MIA to do some necessary shopping. Since various dates were occupied by different matters, the next available date was Feb. 6th.
So on the morning of the 6th, we overslept, and arrived at the airport with just 90 mins to spare. As in NAS they do US Border Pre-Clearance, it always takes more time as you have to clear two security controls, immigration, and customs.
NAS has an interesting gate set up. You all wait in a large waiting hall, and then each separate flight is called, and only then may you proceed to the gate, where you have to board. So one can’t wait by the gate, take pictures etc.
Looking at my A/C from the waiting hall.

The other thing that I hate about NAS, is the food offers. Sure there is a little snack shop with magazines etc, but proper food, there is only one disgusting cafeteria! Why not put in a food court with Mc. Donald’s, or Burger King or something!

On my way to the a/c after boarding being called.

After we were boarded we were soon in line for takeoff.
Once levelled we were served a beverage, the standard, nothing interesting.

Well, soon after we started our descend, landed in MIA, and took the bus over to E Concourse. After collecting our bags, we were off to get our rental car and hit the malls, wal-mart, and target. Just your average day-trip with the last flight back to the island. I was way too tired to do a TR as we arrived at 10:30 pm.
Hope you all enjoyed this short TR from an airport that is not widely covered on this forum!

Cool stuff! I think it's adorable you flew to the United States to shop at WallyMart & Target. It reminds me of my sister-in-law, when she travels from Canada she always seems to end up at Target!
If you want to post your vertical shots vertically, before you upload them to your photo service, just view the folder with the photos using My Computer in Windows, switch to thumbnail view mode so you can see which shots need to be rotated, and right-click the individual photos. On the menu that pops up, hit 'Rotate Clockwise.'
Out of curiousity, how much did the day trip cost?

Quoting EXAAUADL (Reply 2): How about some pics flying over the beautiful bahamas?
Sorryvabout not having any window view pictures. I was unfortuntely sitting next to a rather plump woman who had her window shade down most of the flight.

I am a MAC user, so I can't understand what you mean. As for the price, do you mean the flight? Or rental car, shopping receipt and flights included?
As for the RT Flight it was about $180, so an ok price if you ask me. The rental car was from one of those never heard of cheap companies and cost $55, insurance included. As for the price of our shopping spree.....you wouldn't want to know.

Hey no prob, ever since I've been working on a Mac at work I hate PCs more and more every day! Just view the photos in Preview and there are 2 rotate buttons in the top menu.

Sounds reasonable! I just ask because short flights often are crapshoots - last fall my family planned a flight from California to the East Coast, and to fly out of FAT, our local airport, was about double the cost of flying from SFO, a 3-hour drive away. So we drove to SFO. Call me economical but 30 bucks of gas beats 300 bucks in extra airfare.

Nice report, my neck hurts too though, hehe.

I agree, I also think its somewhat courteous to leave your shade open in such a situation, but i've been in scenarios where i'm looking out the window from say, a middle seat, and the jerkoff at the window slams the shade shut as i'm glancing out. NO CLASS! While 99% of the time I get a window seat, I seriously *DONT* understand the people whom close their window shades during some parts of the flight.
Flying a plane is no diff. from riding a bicycle. Its just a lot harder to put baseball cards in the spokes. -'Airplane'

When I was deplaning at NAS from an AA Eagle ATR 72, I tried taking a picture of my aircraft on the ground, and an airport security woman started screaming at me "Put the camera down - don't take the picture!".

I had heard similar complaints about the lack of food at NAS, so before I left for the airport, I bought a Pastrami sandwich at News Cafe on Paradise Island, to eat while I waited for my flight. The US Government seized my sandwich when I came through US Customs pre clearance, because it is illegal to bring beef or pastrami into the USA, even though I was planning to eat the sandwich before I got on the airplane.
I will be posting two trip reports in the next week: one for AA / American Eagle MSP-MIA-NAS-DFW-MSP, and the other for UP NAS-ZSA-NAS.

Hahah if you look at the boarding picture that same woman is standing besides the a/c. On the hundreds of american eagle flights I have boarded, 90% of the time it has always been the sam eold woman standing there. Thats why I took the picture further away from the a/c just as I got down from the stairs, so she couln't prevent me from taking it.
Technically once you have cleared US immigration and customs here in NAS you are in the US. So technically the shops in the departure lounge shouldn't accept bahamian dollar's right
Anyways, cant wait for your TR, I always enjoy reading them about NAS,
cheers,
LX64A332
PS: Do you think we could compile all the NAS TR's out there and form a list?

Quoting LX64A332 (Reply 14): Ahh yes, back in the day when we had American Eagle service to MIA, FLL, MCO, TPA, JAX, RDU, and LGA! Now we're stuck with MIA, FLL, and DFW!
And yes the ATR 72 does contain oxygen masks which can be disributed by the F/A's and then can be plugged into some valve.
Oh yea.... I don't know how it would help with 66 people on the plane, and you have 2 mins of conciousness
Wat a/c did they fly from NAS-RDU? I can't believe NAS-MCO is gone.
