This one is about my trip last November 17, with Delta. Both aircraft were MD-88s, N907DL and N944DL.
DL 1114- This flight left at 7:10 AM, and was on time. There were a couple of ground holds, but neither lasted more than five minutes. The plane was in the air within 10 minutes of pushback. However, the joy of on-time departure was slightly marred by the fact that the cabin was freezing cold because it had overnighted at MCI. Before pushback, though, the lead F/A informed us that due to the relatively small passenger load, seating was open so long as you remained in your assigned class. Luckily, as a result, I had seats 13C & D all to myself. About an hour into the flight, the snack and drink service began. It was rather spartan, comprising a granola bar, a drink, and a choice of Biscoff cookies or cheese sticks. Fortunately, the crew was friendly and accomodating, and brought around extras at the end. Because this was an early morning flight, plus it was cloudy, there was nothing really to see. However, I did get to see a beautiful sunrise after takeoff. The plane actually landed about 5 minutes ahead of schedule, at about 10:05 AM. This afforded great takeoff shots of other aircraft as we crossed the runway. That said, this was definitely one of the better flights I have had with Delta. Keep up the good work!
DL 578- My connecting flight to Savannah was scheduled to depart at 12:20 from gate A33, only one terminal away from where 1114 came in at T8. We had to make a brief stop on the way to 27R due to a passing Korean Air 747. Thanks to its proximity to our plane, I got a couple of good shots of it. Our plane quickly reached cruising altitude, and turned to the southeast. Since the flight from ATL to SAV is only 35 minutes, there was no inflight service except in First Class. The plane soon began to descend, and landed around 1:05 PM. Our plane rolled up to the gate, and was right next to N729CA, the Cincinnati special livery CRJ. This was definitely a highlight of my trip! Despite there being no service, it was a pleasant flight, and I look forward to flying Delta again soon.
