Reason For Trip:
After an extended stay then I initially planned, its now time to wave a sad goodbye to Perth, me home sweet home, and back to reality of work in Jakarta!
19 February 2008
Perth (PER) – Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Airline: Malaysia Airlines MH124
Aircraft: B777-200ER
Registration: 9M-MRQ
1st Flight: 23 November 2004
ETD: 1730
ATD: 1805
ETA: 2200
ATA: 2250
Flight time: 5 hrs 25 min
Seat: 4K
Class: Golden Club (Business)
Cruise: 38000 feet
Pre Flight
Sadly, its now time to head back to Jakarta for work. Arrived at Perth Airport with just over an hour to spare. Check in area was empty except for passengers on a TG flight to BKK.
Curbside at Perth International Terminal
After a swift check in, we immediately went to the departure and then to the MH lounge.
Check in area & arrivals area
Business class is 100% full today and economy is about 80%. Made small talk with the really nice lady in charge of the MH lounge and she told us there will be a slight delay in boarding as this aircraft had a late arrival due to avoidance of really bad weather north of Perth.
MH Golden Lounge in Perth
I spent most of my time walking around the departure lounge and I noticed that although TG was suppose to be using B773 to Perth now, today is one of their newest B772ER HS-TJR which was delivered only back in 18 October 2006! Great, when I am not flying them from Perth they decided to use new equipment. And next to this bird was SQ’s B772ER and MH’s B772ER, Perth is really a B777 airport today huh!
All B772ER’s to day at Perth
In Flight
When boarding was called, we were one of the first few to board the plane. You really feel the ‘Malaysian Hospitality’ once you board a MH aircraft, and this one was no different, actually the crew this time round are even more then ever eagerly waiting to serve us!
Again, the lie flats by BE Aerospace on MH J class
Another view of TG’s HS-TJR
Bravo! I had a pre take off champagne
and soon enough we were off the blocks and ready to go. Not much to spot at this time, but there was a private jet parked on one of the aprons.
Menu
RR Trents at full power and scenes after take off
No mistaking what kind of aircraft we are on
And a visit to the lavatory
Crew warned us the flight out of Perth will be real bumpy due to the cyclone up North and our flight will take longer than usual due to weather avoidance. Hey, who am I to complain? I am always happy to spend more time on board a MH aircraft.
Meal time
In between meals and the excellent Teh Tarik!
Gotta love those mood lighting
MH B744 next to us as we docked in KLIA
I managed to sleep a lot on this flight, but most importantly, the meals was also good as usual. Somehow your time really flies when you are on a MH flight!

Pre Flight
We were pretty tired by the time we reached the hotel, but had a pleasant surprise of being upgraded to the residence suites, we really had a nice nights sleep and fell asleep in no time. Woke up in the morning and arrived at the airport with ample time to spare. Had the opportunity to try out the MH curbside porter service and everything was ok. And they efficiently helped us until the check in process was over. After immigration we had lunch at burger king and the rest of our time was spent at the MH golden lounge.
Air Mauritius A332
KLIA, beautiful ain’t it
When boarding was called, we had to go back to the G gates where most of B737 flights depart from.
In Flight
This is my first time on 9M-MQI,
by the time I got on this flight , as usual, I guess its because of the irritation of going back to work in Jakarta or after a long trip, I am always tired and fall asleep!
….woke up for the meal and after that dozed off again. In no time the plane was already in final descent to CGK.
Overall, another flawless and fantastic flight by MH. That’s why I love to fly them so much. I only fly TG more due to the fact that it belongs to Star Alliance. I hope MH gets into an alliance soon. Which even gives me more reason to fly with them

One of my favorite scenes out the window is those nice RR Trent engines and your report definitely showed them. I hope to see them in a few weeks on an AA 777 NRT-JFK/ORD.

Nice report and photo's as usual.
MH do seem pretty good from your reports, shame I have no reason to give them a try, well one day perhaps?

Great to read about your return. Really heartwarming to read about MAS as always... But what is with that truncated and dirty "VISIT MALAYSIA YEAR"? After 2007, are they expecting another one soon?
Welcome to my starry one world alliance, a team in the sky!
You really have got to try them at least once in your life. Their infligth service is just top notch, even better that SQ in my opinion. ANd of course you can expect more trip reports from me

Actually Malay Satay and Indonesian Satay, ermmm Indonesian Satay tastes better IMHO, actually I fly TG 60% of the time and the remainder 30% MH, and the other 10% with other airlines. I guess with my business trips all over the place, I clock up enough miles every year to maintain my Gold with TG so now I am trying to get silver with MH

Thanks again for reading too, I guess in my case, I have gotten sooo used to writing TR's that if I am to travel and not do a TR, that would seem really weird for me Will be flying to Bali tomorrow, will do a TR once I get up.
