Time to go back to Salou for 3 days. I decided the best option was to go with Aer Lingus again as the service is good and comfortable. The times out of Dublin suited me as I wanted to be there early. The return time to Belfast suited me so I decided to go out of DUB and back in BFS.

FLIGHT : EI 562
DATE : 14MAR08
A/C : A321
ROUTE : DUB-BCN
SEAT : 36 C ( Moved to 31 A )
REG : EI - CPF Named St. Ida

I took the coach to the airport and arrived around 0530am. The airport was packed and ques everywhere. I decided to get my boarding card from the SSK and go to get some breakfast. Lucky that the majority of people were still in ques to check in so the restaurant areas were not too busy.

After that I decided to join the huge ques to get past security. It was one of the worst I have seen. It took me 35 mins to get through.

All on time .....so far so good !!!

I spoke too soon !!

Our aircraft

Ok this is not good !!!

Oh no !!!

So after over 2 hours delay it was finally time to board.

As I boarded I was dissapointed to see a crew member ignoring the passengers and reading a internal memo about an agreement between Aer Lingus and its unions. ''Impact / Aer Lingus Agreement'' !! Something like this should not even be visable to passengers especially when you are supposed to be greeting the passengers. The crew member ignored my ''good morning'' .

Anyway I took my seat at 31 A . The middle row was free with a Spanish lady in 31 C. The flight was quite full and a large group of Spanish students. The announcements were made but you could hardly hear them. The woman making the announcements had a voice like a field mouse .

The Pilot came over the PA and appoligised for the delay .

TAKE OFF VIDEOS

Nice view of Dublin

After take off the Sky Cafe service commenced. I was unfortunate to get the black haired crew member who was the same one who ignored us all when we boarded.

She said ''What do you want '' . I asked for a Chicken and Stuffing sandwich,Coke and a Twix. It came to EUR8 . I tendered a EUR 10 note and she ''dropped'' a EUR2 coin into my hand. No smile or anything !!!

Its a shame I didnt get these two below who were really pleasant and friendly

Anyway the sandwich was nice as usual and I just relaxed and listened to my Ipod.

After 2 hours it was time to land in Barcelona .

LANDING VIDEOS

I then caught the shuttle bus to the Airport train station and went to Sants station. I decided to go to use the internet at the hotel next to the station as I had an hour to kill before my train to Salou .

I took the train to Salou and met my friend. We decided to visit the Port Aventura theme park on the Sunday which was a good idea as Sunday was the best day . It was warm and sunny.

After 3 nights it was time to fly back . So I took the train from Salou to Sants Station and connected to the Airport train.

FLIGHT : EI 47
DATE : 17MAR08
A/C : A320
ROUTE : BCN-BFS
SEAT : 29 C
REG : EI - DVF Named St Jarlath / Iarfhlaith

Check in took around 5 mins .

Ques to get to security screening were quite long so I decided to go through right away.

I decided to go and look at what A/C were on the tarmac.

B747Forever ..... you would like this shop !!!

I find parts of BCN airport very dark !!!

Time for boarding . The flight was not full . Around 65-70% . I got a whole row of three to myself. We were greeted by a smiling BFS based crew and shown to our seats.

Seat back tray latch bust

ON THE GROUND ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEOS

On todays flight the crew were Stephen,Victoria (Senior crew ), Louise and Lauren. Victoria and Lauren are the two crew featured in the current Cara magazine with Dermot Mannion and the school girl who won the design competition.

TAKE OFF VIDEO

After take off the Sky Cafe commenced.

I chose the Pizza as recomended by Shamrock350 !! Also some Pringles and Coke. The cost was EUR 6.50

I noticed that even though this is a UK flight priced in Sterling most opted to pay in Euro.

PROGRESS PILOT ANNOUNCEMENT

As we came in along the Irish sea we flew over Dublin and then North over Drogheda and then towards Belfast.

LANDING VIDEOS

After we landed I cleared passport control. Again the only bad thing about BFS is the slow passport control procedures on EU flights !! They really need to speed things up and get rid of the red tape.

I took the Airport Express bus into the City Center for my connection coach. I took some pics of the ''Belfast Eye''.

So thats the end of this TR. I hope you all enjoyed it. I will have to find some interesting ways to get to BCN in future!! Using some different airlines and routes .

As usual I appreciate all your comments / Feedback.

Thanks for taking the time to put it together.

Great report as always - looks like you had fun at the theme park!

What are the public transport connections like from BFS to the city centre? I wouldn't mind taking a coach up there some time just to see what it is like to fly in and out of.

Belfast International Airport: Airport Express 300 service operates between Europa Buscentre and Belfast International Airport. Single ticket £6, return ticket £9, Smartlink 10 journey ticket £40. Frequency: Every 10 minutes at peak times Mon - Fri, (reduced frequency Sat & Sun)

http://www.translink.co.uk/twtairportconnections.asp

Its a very handy service and arrives and departs just outside the Terminal .

That was a terrific TR!

That theme park seemed like a fun place to be. Such a shame that the flight got delayed 2 hours and that the FA didn't reply on your "Good Morning".

I always enjoy reading your trip reports OA260.

Great trip report! I have flown into and out of BFS many times and have only landed on RWY07 twice, so its nice to see a video of the approach as all of the available videos I have found are of the 25 approach and landing.

Great also to see some pics from Belfast on here  Smile

As always your TR do not dissapoint. Look forward to the next one!

That F/A on the DUB-BCN sounds very typical of an FR one, shame to see that one or two can let the side down!
Great pic of the 2 DL a/c at DUB also.

Another great report!

Shame about that one FA out of Dublin but it's great the hear that BFS continues to impress, I also find it nice that it never seems to be just one FA making announcements and they introduce you to all the crew. Nice photos and it's good to see loads are holding up.

Lovely TR, reminds me of the time I was in Port Aventura. It's really good to see EI continue to impress in BFS, pity about the inconsistency though from DUB!!

Hello, Philip,

another nice BCN story, thanx for posting.

What about the delay at DUB.
Early morning, that might be something tech or crew rest limits.
Any explanation about it?.

Great pics as always.
I know someone who wants to go soon to Port Aventura after showing your pics  Smile

Yes you must take him !!! Its a really nice day or 2 days out. May is a good time to go and the hotel Vil la Romana is only 10 mins walk from the Park and a nice 4 star hotel in Salou. Also you can do a day trip from Barcelona by train . The cost into the park is EUR42 for an Adult and slightly cheaper for a child. There are also some great shows. I expect to see a TR lol...

Hi Philip,

again a great report of your BCN trip!

About that EI delay... I'm also interested in the reason for it? Might have to do with ATC reasons as well, probably the flight got a late slot time. Sorry to read then about that silly FA.

Quoting EI320 (Reply 6):
That F/A on the DUB-BCN sounds very typical of an FR one

Just flown on FR, and had friendly crews on both flights, they greeted at the rear door, and were helpful and friendly during cruise. They aren't that bad  Wink

btw, Philip; I think FR is proud of being a carrier with a better ontime performance then EI. It was clearly marked in their inflight magazine Big grin

Enough options possible I think, but I totally agree with you  Wink Especially now after that delay and the FA  Silly

Hello

Sounds like you had a great trip! I keep on thinking about doing a Cabin Crews trip report but worried I may get into trouble with senior management…

I was sorry to hear the outbound crew were not to friendly! There is never and excuse for it, even when I am feeling really down I’m always nice to passengers, its hardly ever their fault if your feeling angry/upset or just going through the motions…

Love Aer Lingus livery – it’s great!

Kimberly.

Hola Phillip!

Great TR... and great pictures of Port Aventura.

I usually go there once a year and love the rides. The new roller coaster is awesome.

I am glad you enjoyed your time there. Did you get to spend some time in BCN?

I totally agree with you, despite all the glass some of the areas are not very well lit. I hope it does not happen in the T-Sud, opening next year.

Sadly no . I land at BCN then jump on the train to Sants then transfer to the Tortola train. I find the train quite nice though as it goes along the coast. Nice views.

T-Sud is a huge new terminal that is being built in BCN airport grounds and that will open next year.

Aena, the Spanish National Board of Airports has this link: http://www.aena.es/csee/Satellite?La...e&c=Microsite_FP&cid=1069405187914

This Terminal Sud has been awarded to all intercontinental carriers at El Prat: Aerolineas Aregtninas, Avianca, Aeromexico, Continetal and Delta plus all the OW and *A carriers, as well as Clickair and Vueling.

Salut!

Roger
