On June 11th, 2001, I left for Zagreb from Minneapolis. I got to the airport at 12:00 noon, and got bumped up to the 1:00 PM flight rather than my original 2:00 PM flight, due to intense storms approaching. We tookoff, and there was a lot of turbulance in our United Airlines 737-200. The interior was old, but eh, it was only a 45 min flight. All we got was a chex mix thing, and a beverage. We landed at ORD, and I was amazed as I overlooked the international arrivals building. I saw Iberia, Lufthansa, Alitalia, BA, and tons more. We taxiied to the "glass" United terminal. We got off, and went to the deserted baggage claim area. My bag came, then my father, brother, and my sister, and I headed for our Lufthansa Airlines flight. We got to the gate, and I saw a LH 747-200, and the LH A340-300 I'd take from ORD to MUC. The name of the aircraft was "Worms." Since my dad didn't want our bags to be checked, we were the 1st ones on the aircraft, and put our bags in the overhead compartments. I loved the seats, and the interior. My brother, sister, father, and I all got the 4 seats in the middle row. I really enjoyed the adjustable head rests. We took off, and the takeoff was great. We leveled off, and I got my meal, which was quite enjoyable. We viewed Disney's Little Mermaid cartoon, and the movie Antitrust. We flew for about 9 hours, and landed at MUC. The airport is amazing, and the gate agents everywhere are very kind. We went to the new terminal, and sat down and waited 3 hours till our flight to Zagreb, Croatia would start boarding. There were only us, and 3 other people on the bus to the aircraft. We got on our Avro RJ 146 from Lufthansa Cityline, and got to the runway. We stopped and turned off, and went back to the aircraft boarding area. An old lady got on, then tons of army people from a late SAS flight from Denmark boarded. The flight was then packed. We took off about 1 hour late, and the takeoff was beautiful. Munich has the greatest landscape. We flew over the Alps while we ate our meal. We got a mini sub sandwich, something else, and a Milka candybar. We made a great landing at Zagreb on the one airstrip they have. They dont have jetways yet, only the movable walkways. I was there in Croatia, and it felt good. I'll say the trip back later, but the trip over was just great.

great report! I'm glad you like Lufthansa, I myself always enjoy being on one of their flights. Last summer I've been on their A340-300 "Recklinghausen" from ORD to FRA. Those are really nice aircraft. They are my favourites, only lacking PTV. MUC is awesome, the best and most modern European airport IMO. Hope you enjoyed your flight back as well, btw did you fly via FRA or MUC on your return trip? In case you are interested in reading about my flights on EW, UA and B6 this summer, just go to http://www.airliners.net/discussions/trip_reports/read.main/12014/

I went back home via FRA. Once we got off our Lufthansa flight from Zagreb, (It was a 737-300, and the interior was great, and the name was "Ulm.") we headed to our flight on Lufthansa from FRA-ORD. FRA's new terminal is awesome, it really does look nice. I didn't get the name of the A340-300 though. We got to the gate, got in the waiting area, then boarded. We tookoff on time, and got an orange juice box before takeoff. We flew north, over the North Sea, and by that time we were watching the news. (Too bad there weren't any PTVs) For our meal, we had a few choices, I just got the chicken, but didn't eat it cause it was too hot at first, so I ate everything else, then I was full when it cooled down. We saw the movie "See Spot Run," and "Prehistoric Predators." We flew over Iceland and Greenland. Iceland had great scenery, I looked out the window all the way over Iceland. They have big, rough, brown mountains, and really, really clean lakes. There are only a few farms scattered about the landscape. We flew over Greenland, and since we were seated behind the wing, I saw our contrails. It was amazing. I looked down at the ocean, and saw floating, white objects. I immediately knew they were icebergs, and I was in awe. Then came more and more icebergs, then the ocean was frozen towards Greenland's shore. Greenland looked cool, all the snow covered mountains, nothing was bare. We then got our forms, filled em out, the came in North America over Canada. We flew over Canada, then over Lake Michigan, and into ORD. The landing was flawless. We pulled up to the terminal, and saw all the many international airlines. I saw the SAS 767 in new colors. We were put on long lines at customs, thanks to a LOT Polish flight that landed minutes before us. After, we were afraid we'd miss our connection to MSP. But luckily, it was late from Albany. Then after, we got to MSP, and I was very sad to leave the beautiful country, and especially my relatives half way across the world.
