Soon, it was time to go back to cold. I had never been to NYC before so I was pretty excited. We chose to return from FLL instead of MIA due to better schedule. I had mostly recovered from my cold as it was nicely warm in MIA but this would change soon as we arrived in a freezing NYC.

Take off from FLL offered spectacular views of the town. We had cloud cover for most of the flight so there was not much to see. Landing in EWR was dull as the weather was not pretty. Here are some pictures.

The 3 days in NYC was nice. We actually stayed at the Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson River but we commuted to Manhattan by metro each day. The hotel was really nice and offered spectacular views of Manhattan. The fact that it was all non-smoking was the only disadvantage for me  I spent my first day in NYC in bed with a high fever ordering food from room service but the rest of the 2 days I was better and in much mood to shop more  A few pictures on my stay in New York:

This is another flight where I did not take many pictures as it was dark all the way. The flight again was normal. The only thing to note may be the speed of the A/C which reached over 1200 km/h when we were still above Boston. The flight only lasted for about 6 hours. Watched a movie and a few episodes of “Coupling” on my laptop. The food again was all right so was the service. But we took off almost on time and landed early which is the most important things for me.

Here are a few pictures from the flight.

After collecting our luggage and experiencing a rather lengthy discussion with the passport police (he really was not nice, I had my multiple entry Schengen visa, all necessary documents and my return flight he kept me waiting for over 20 minutes), we headed to Lille where we were picked up by my friend’s brother. I spent the next two days in Belgium (Roselare and Brugge). Interesting country but not my cup of tea  And after 1 more night in Paris, it was time to go back to IST. Some pictures from Belgium

This flight was another AF routine. I actually quite enjoy the service on AF. And I realized that I was sitting in a separate cabin between Y and C classes. There were around 5-6 rows in this in-between class separated from economy and business by a curtain. The seating was 3+3 but we were sitting 2+2 here. The food was different from Y class too. Anyway, it was a nice treat  Here are a few pictures on this last leg.

Well, that’s it. Sorry there aren’t many comments involved. Overall, all my flights were good and mostly on-time. CO is my first US legacy carrier (I had only flown WN before). The service was consistent on all 4 flights but I think I would still chose a European airline over an American at any day.

I hope you enjoyed the report. Any comments and questions are welcome.

Great 2nd part to your trip. It looked like you had a great time there in all those places. Nice photos of New York. Good idea to stay outside NY and commute in. The cost of hotels in Manhatten is getting crazy these days.

Again more nice photos they dont need words.

I really enjoyed both parts and looking forward to your next TR !!!

The pics of Belgium were great, it's sure pretty country.

Yet another great TR!

Did you get upgraded to Tempo Challenge or did you just happen to end up sitting there?

Thank you for sharing.

you're looking very fresh on the pic eventhough you was suffering a fever Big grin
a very  bigthumbsup  to you, because regardless your physical bad feeling you made more pictures and captured more details of all your flights (part 1 included) than any other in good condition - me for instance Big grin great aviation-work and thanks for sharing...

It's a good idea to stay in Jersey city and commute to Manhattan. But to be honest, you quickly lose an hour because of changing trains. Next time, I hope to stay in our hotel in Manhattan. I no longer pay as long as there is availability  Smile

Yeah. It was crazy. Over 1200 km/h at times. I was a little concerned to be honest  Smile

As I told in my post, I am not really sure. I had an economy ticket but asked for an exit seat (told her that I was an ex F/A) and I ended up sitting in this cabin. The food was definitely different than Y class food.

It was very generous of Continental to add a tomato and carrot on the Eastbound flight. That really impressed me. What a difference with the Air France catering which is generally excellent and generous. I try to avoid US airlines and Swiss. I like AF and Turkish too.
I get confused whether one should visit Bruge or Ghent? One of them I was told is wonderful while the other one is not worth visiting.
Thanks for the great pictures. By the way in regards to your Jet lag westbound same happens to me. I cannot sleep. Two Bayer aspirins really help get to sleep.

Nice follow-up report, really enjoyed the pictures, especially on NYC, always a great place to visit and see inn pictures.

Like the FLL pix too, the AP has set up a real nice spotters area there, spent a week there a year or 2 back, picked up a good tan too!  Smile

The food on that AF flight looked quite decent, I'm impressed!

I love FLL. I very much prefer FLL to MIA. FLL has a better quality of life I think. I always stay in MIA but I visit FLL very often when I am there.

My Wife and I had our Wedding rehearsal dinner at Vu at the Hyatt in Jersey City, the proximity to the PATH makes it one stop to the Village, World Trade Center etc.. The view from Vu is spectacular, great food too. I wish more folks would try this hotel as the PATH makes it just as convenient as any hotel in Manhattan itself, there's also Hoboken next door which has it's own nightlife.

The food on CO looked miserable compared to AF , despite the fact of AF being the shorter flight . Are you planning a T/R on your upcoming trip to Sharm ? I certainly hope so  Smile .

Good second part of the report. You mentioned on the CO CDG-EWR leg that the IFE on the 777 was not AVOD; was it on the return to CDG?

The Tempo Challenge Cabin is often "over dimensioned" deliberately so the ground staff at Check in has more opportunities to "upgrade" FF Flyers or passengers paying a high Y fare ...

Actually, it is not really an upgrade : Air France officially offers only 2 Classes : Business and Tempo, The "Tempo" class being divided with a front section called "Tempo Challenge". "Tempo Challenge" is not a "Class", it's just a sort of "Eco +" but still part of the Economic class. That's why it is quite easy to be sited in this section, when you arrive last at the check in, or if you haven't paid the cheapest fare, or if you are Airline Staff travelling on Stand-by ... or if you are good looking and make a great smile to the Check in agent ...  Wink
