Dear Readers,
for a long time I wanted to visit Berlin Tempelhof airport, however I never made it. Last year when I read some articles that it will be closed by Oct 2008, I thought I need to made a trip to THF. I wanted to fly in and out of the airport to experience both take off and landing there.

I started my search for the tickets. The best option from PRG came with Brussels Airlines via Brussels.

I have purchase following ticket. PRG-BRU-THF-BRU with Brussels Airlines and BRU-PRG with SkyEurope. I decided to spend one night in Berlin, and do little bit of sightseeing as I have never been there.

This part will cover the flight PRG-BRU-THF on April 17, 2008.

As I am not a writer, I thought I will share my pictures with you which tell much more than words.

I have checked for my flights the day before online. Brussels Airlines online check in is very easy and one can choose his/her seats as well.

Hello, Ales,

nice pictures around your trip and THF.
I´am sorry about the wheather, Berlin is for sure worth to visit, but much more during better wheather.

I´ve thinking also about a farewell THF trip, I was there before, but it seems it´s never more possible from November on.

Thanx for posting,
Markus (FLIEGER67)

Hey!

Wow! I'm jealous! I got to visit THF last year, but never got to go airside. Maybe I need to plan a special trip to Berlin again!  yes

I kinda like their OLCI printout, which CO would do something similar!

Never heard of them, is this a charter company?

Nice report, thanks for posting.

I've been luck enough to fly into THF but not out, perhaps I too should take a trip before it is too late.

Intersting to see SN run a 319 on the PRG route, I would have assumed it was a RJ85/100 route.

Nice pix of Berlin, shame about the weather, great city.

Rgds

Mark

I think the morning flight is operated by A319 a the rest of the flights are on Avro jets

Great TR

The pics are really good.

Glad that you made it to THF before it close.

Just a question to any one keen on SN. It seems that all their European network is operated by Avros. Where do they send their A319s??

Thank you for sharing

How was the on board service? I think you flew with a cheaper fare and wondered if SN still gives anything for free, drinks, snacks etc.

Enjoyed your pics of Berlin and THF. As a steward for VIP's with SAMS out of Rhein Main/
Frankfurt in the 60's, I have made as many as three flights a day from FRA/THF/FRA. I saw little change in THF from your pics. Good seeing the door I would enter asking for more ice and food trays for the flight back to FRA. Your pics have put tears into my eyes and I thank you.
By the way, we would most often use the C54 and the C118 for those flights.

Funny thing this about Berlin - it's always raining  Wink
It did the same in August 2007 as three of us also flew in to Tempelhof via Brussels. In addition to walking from the east to the west - all the way from Alexanderplatz through Brandenburger Tor, passing the Bundestag to the new Hauptbahnhof we also visited Gatow and the German Air Force Museum and the aircraft section of the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin. I recommend you visit both museums.

http://www.plane-spotter.com/Jpegs/BerlinTour2007/840/DTMB/Deutsche_Luftfahrt_Sammlung_1936.jpg
This is a model of the Deutsche Luftfahrt Sammlung as it was in 1936 and can be seen at the Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin. Only one or two of all the historic aircraft of this collection survived the Second World War.
