Time to go back to Spain. I was looking at all options into BCN and REU from BFS and DUB . I saw Ryanair had a special sale on for EUR59 all in so I couldn't refuse it and decided to fly Ryanair.
FLIGHT: FR 1972
DATE : 19TH APRIL 2008
ROUTE : DUBLIN - REUS
A/C : BOEING 737-800
REG: EI-DHN
SEAT : FREE SEATING
The morning started at Starbuck's. I had checked in online and was carrying only 10 Kilos hand luggage so after my coffee I proceeded to Pier D where my flight was to depart from.
Some good photo oppertunities from Pier D
After a while it was time to board. I was one of the first to board as I had a priority boarding card. The flight was to be 95% full.
I decided to take a exit row seat by the window.
After take off the buy on board service commenced. I went for choc bar and drink .
There were a huge selection of food, snacks and drinks. I was quite surprised at the quality and the price was ok also.
The crew looked like they enjoyed their jobs and smiled all the time. They were all Eastern European.
After a comfortable and smooth flight we laned in Reus.
I then had 3 nights in Salou which as always I really enjoyed. The weather was mixed but I didnt really care. The tourists have started to arrive and the majority were German/French/English.
FLIGHT: FR 1973
DATE : 22ND APRIL 2008
ROUTE : REUS-DUBLIN
A/C : BOEING 737-800
REG: EI-DYK
SEAT : FREE SEATING
I checked in 2 hours prior to departure and the new Terminal is still being built.
Not the most exciting Terminal and they certainly need a new Terminal. The facilities are very basic and small considering the amount of tourist traffic every Summer. The new one looks very spacious and nice. Im not sure when it will open though.
Time to board.
As I entered the cabin it smelt like a new car. I gathered that it was a new A/C. I chose a normal window seat and the middle seat was free. The flight was only 70% full. You could not sit in the first 5 rows or the last 5 rows of seats .
After take off the buy onboard service started. I chose a Tuna & Sweetcorn sandwich and a drink. Total cost EUR7 which is about average. The crew were really nice and smiled the whole time. This time two of the crew were Spanish and the rest Eastern European.

Time for the selling of Scratch cards !!!
Coming into land
I have to say I enjoyed the flights . The crew were very good and the flights were on time. I would certainly choose them again if the price was right.
I have some videos which I will post over the next few days. Comments appreciated as usual.
Thanks for reading

Phil, you;ve done it again, an excellent TR! You've very nearly convinced me that FR is a semi-civilized way to travel.....
Interesting that the terminal at REU has not yet been completed, the basic frame was already complete when I was last there in 2004! We thought ORK took too long.....
Brian.
Next flights: MAN-ORK-LHR(EI)-MAN(BD); MAN-LHR(BD)-ORK (EI); DUB-ZRH-LAX (LX) LAX-YYZ (AC) YYZ-YHZ-LHR(AC)-DUB(BD)

Hi Philip!
Nice catch, that brandnew 737-800! You got it just 5 days after the delivery flight (According planespotters.net it was delivered on April 17, 2008).
Of course FR are good as long as they don't get huge delays or other operational issues, you will be fine with them.
Good pics, and a nice change of airline with your other recent trips
Cheers,
Eric

Hola Philip!
Thanks for another good TR.
Reus is indeed one of the small airports that needs a new terminal since Ryanair started flights from there.... there are several everyday and so investments have been made to enlarge it.
It is scheduled to open next year.
Did you enjoy Port Aventura again? or was it just a beach trip?
Salut!
Roger

Nice report, you were really lucky to get such a brand new plane. However, these interiors look so cheap and that mix of yellow and beige is just awful.
Btw - what was the reason for the Arabian VIP plane meeting?

We were wondering about that on the Irish aviation thread; most likely there was a horse race meeting at one of the major Irish courses, or alternatively a major horse sale.

A very nice collection of pics, enjoyed them very much. I have to agree with others that it's always nice to fly on such a new aircraft - however the cabin looks indeed a bit cheap. By the way, how did you manage to take so many cabin pics? According to other reports, Ryanair crews can become quite angry once someone takes cabin pics. I thought it's not permitted according to Ryanair's policy.
Regards, Alex.

I noticed most of Phil's pictures inside the plane are wile the plane was boarding, and then the crew is so busy they wouldn't even notice! However the FA in the 53rd picture is very pretty she must be one of the FA's that aren't Irish, Phil did you get her # !

Your so smart LOL.... well I always take pics when the crew are not looking. Its all about timing , but I have to say when I boarded the crew could see I was taking pics and nothing was said at all.

LOl...I cant disagree there. When walking the streets of Ireland you can tell the difference between Eastern European girls and Irish ones!!! Theres a good few sizes between the clothes they wear LOL....

Fantastic TR OA! The photos were fantastic, and Im glad you had good flights. I've found the emergency exit rows on the FR 738s to be very comfortable.

Good TR! One question: On the way back, how come you weren't able to sit in the first five rows or last five rows of the plane? Were the seats out of order?
