Hey everyone-
Here's another TR I took in April 2008 from Seattle to Chicago for a week during Spring Break. I don't have too many (good) photos, but please enjoy what you can, even though my pics suck! I hate my camera, but it broke the next month so..
April 5, 2008
United Airlines Flight 352
Seattle, WA (SEA) to Chicago, IL (ORD)
Boeing 757-200
Registration - N575UA
Gate - N. Satellite Gate N1
First Class – Seat 1B
Sched. Dept. – 11:11 AM
Sched. Arrival – 5:01 PM
OLCI Boarding Pass
I arrived at Sea-Tac about 9:50 AM, and the First Class checkin was totally empty for once! In fact, the whole airport was like a ghost town. Weird!
I went thru priority security and stopped at Charbucks (Starbucks) in the Main Terminal for a burned coffee. I then left for the underground tram to take me to the N-Gates, and arrived at the gate about 10 min before boarding, and took some pics of stuff!
Gross N gates!
Gross carpet in the N gates!
My plane a 757-200, reg N757UA
Red-Carpet Boarding started around 10:40AM and I took a few shots of the cabin with my phone! My seat was 1B.
I then went to visit the cockpit and the Captain gave me some stuff! Check it out!
We were served a pre-departure beverage, and I had Orange Juice. Then we had a speedy take off on 16L and about 40 min into cruising altitude we were served lunch. I didn't get any pics of food, because I thought it would look weird to others, as F was full 100%, along with Y.
Roast Beef Sandwich
Fruit Plate
Baked Potato soup
Brownie
I chose the sandwich, which was decent. It wasn't hot, but everything else was great and made up for it. It was a one-tray service.
Drinks were constantly refilled, and we had a great young F/A serving first class this afternoon. She was amazing. Service was great! UA really has a solid domestic F product.
About 30 min outside ORD we started to descend.
We touched down about 10 minutes early at about 4:40 PM, and arrived at gate B-5, and luggage arrived quickly. In fact my bag was the second off onto the carousel.
UA 352 was a great flight!
RETURN
April 11, 2008
United Airlines Flight 949
Seattle, WA (SEA) to Chicago, IL (ORD)
Boeing 757-200
Registration - Forgot!
Gate - Terminal 1, Concourse C, Gate C9
First Class – Seat 2A
Sched. Dept. – 5:20PM
Sched. Arrival – 7:46 PM
I checked in around 3:30 PM. ORD WAS INSANE!
The lady greeting people was very friendly to adults. But then she looked at me and said this is First Class only. Mind you I was dressed in slacks, and a nice polo with dress shoes. Not the Seattle shabby style like when I flew SEA-ORD! . I said oh great I'm in the right line then, and she shut up. If you pay for F, you should get F treatment.
And after waiting in the F check-in, I had to wait in the INSANE priority security line. I then took the underground walkway to the C-gates.
I got a vitamin water in a shop, and opened it, and I dropped it, and it spilled all over me. It was the XXX one, which is a purple color, and yes my slacks were covered. So I went and changed into my jeans. I'm so clumsy.
I went to C-9 and waited for a bit, and then the flight was delayed for about 20 minutes, so I just texted .
Red-Carpet Boarding started at 5:40 PM, and I settled into my seat, 2B, and took a few shots.
We had pre-dept beverage, and they were of your choice. I had a diet coke and I spilled it on the seat!!! Argh, the seat started to stink and I had to sit on pillows for the rest of the flight. And due to an even longer delay for a part in the cockpit, the F/A's started the movie, which I don't remember what it was.
We took off about an hour late, and service started. It consisted of hot towels, and then tablecloths being passed out.
Dinner consisted of:
Hot Nuts to start with drink of your choice. (I had a diet coke. And I didn't spill it this time.)
Mediterranean Salmon Plate
Couscous
Asian Salad
Chocolate Cheesecake (YUMMY)
Roll (not from bread basket)
OR
Lasagna
Asian Salad
Chocolate Cheesecake (YUMMY)
Roll (not from bread basket)
I chose the lasagna. It was served about 1 hour into the flight. It was a one-tray service. It was a huge portion, and was actually very good. I have had it before and it was bad. The salad was good, with mandarin oranges, almonds, and Asian sesame dressing. The cheesecake was so good, I had another slice courtesy of the great crew. I had a very pleasant experience on UA this trip.
Very Very good service. I love UA!
Outside
Wing view
We started to descend about 30 min outside of SEA.
I fell asleep, and BAM woke up as we touched down on 16C. We then taxied to gate N1. As we were heading to the gate, the F/A's made a joke about be thankful you took United and not AA, because if not you would be stuck in ORD on an MD-80. This was the week of the AAMD-80 groundings. Everyone laughed!
We arrived at gate N1, and I went to baggage claim, and retrieved my bags, and left SEA. I was tired, and wet from the seat, which didn't dry during the flight.
CONCLUSION
Overall grade: B+ (Rude agent in ORD and delay.)
Amazing UA flights!
Nothing more I could ask for out of a domestic F flight!
Here’s a pic of the safety card for you safety card fanatics!

When I was doing this project in school, my UA contact gave me those cards too lol

Great trip report. I loved your comment about the greeter in ORD, because I've always felt the same about agents and simple age discrimination.
When HP flew into PHL and used the D gates manned by CO, the CO PHL agents are the rudest I've ever encountered in my world travels. I had a gentleman greet me the same one time, "sir this is only for first class," and I looked at him, and said, "you don't say, that's what that sign says, for real, oh that's english which I read and then I must be in the right spot," and then I asked for a different agent to please check me in and have this guy moved away from me completely. He remembered me every trip after that because I fly to PHL about five times a year or so to visit, and everytime after that he'd say hello, and I actually thanked him and just said, you know, even when at that time I might have been in my lower to mid 20s, any airline should appreciate their best flyers, no matter what their age is.

Age discrimination is definitely annoying - some people are quite closed-minded. But hey, what can we do about it..
Thanks for a nice TR; I flew UA F ORD-PDX one day after you flew them ORD-SEA (April 12th) and also really enjoyed it. United still has some good folks working for it.

The service on UA looks great, this is one of my big complaints about AS after having experienced F service on UA and AA, AS F service is just not up to par. For instance on a Lunch flight SFO-SJD, we were served a cold tiny little roast beef sandwhich, something you could buy at Safeway or QFC with some Potato Salad.....not impressive. AS needs to step up the amenities in F, the crews are amazing and the food service should be as well.

I totally agree with this, but I will say something. I know a kid who has:
-Edited US Airways Magazine for some Star Alliance updates in 6th grade (kinda minor though)
-Granted a visit to the US Airways Corporate HQ in Tempe, AZ
-Books family and friends for their trips w/o commission
-Contacted over 20 airlines to help with a project with some contacts going as high as the CEO (AC)
-Created a lot of contacts in many airlines, especially (US)
-Granted a visit to AirTran Airways HQ in Orlando, FL (OK, it was just lobby axcess, but at least they didn't kick him out quickly)
P.S. The secret is not to tell 'em your age . When I did my edit, I had to be encouraged by teahcers to tell them my age after they gave me a response notifying me I'm right
Just goes to show, there are nice people out there

YES! Just be nice I guess.
And as I said, there are nice people is the industry that aren't agist. All you have to do is just "Say what you have and have what you say". And of course, dip your feet (or for me just dive) into the pool of the industry. Get out there, make contacts, and have fun (ok that sounded a little cheesy, but it worked for me). Look at me lol!

They did that to my stepdad a few weeks ago. But the guy who said it apologized when my stepdad said Platinum Elite (on NWA at MSP).

Hehe I took UA 949 again a few weeks ago, in F on an A320 and I must say the service was much better recently. I have some pics I should maybe make a comparison report. Oh well thanks for all the nice comments.

Good report! I've have good experiences on UA First in and out of SEA as well. Their ground crew in SEA is good all around, and the First cabin on the 757 is quite nice.

Ahh thanks dude, haha but this is my old Trip Report. I've flown UA 949 three times since then, and sat next to the same lady I did on my SEA-ORD in this trip, on the way back on UA949 back in August. Haha what a small world...
