Here is my second trip report. First of all, please forgive for the poor photo quality as my mother took the new camera for her trip, I have to use the old one.
The purposes of this trip is to visit my auntie who lived in Shanghai, try the through train service from Hong Kong to Shanghai and try the new bullet train in China, so I booked my one-way train ticket from Hong Kong to Shanghai and one-way air ticket from Shanghai back to Hong Kong. However, the one-way ticket from Shanghai to Hong Kong is quite expensive (80% of return ticket), so I decided to take the domestic flight from Shanghai to Shenzhen and change the bus backing home.
The train taking me from Hong Kong to Shanghai, "RW" means "soft bed".
T100, from Hong Kong (Kowloon) to Shanghai.
My room contains 2 beds, they are soft with good supporting.
A little table and a sofa.
Private toilet in the room.
The restaurant on board.
Dinner time! There was no seats in the restaurant, the waitress suggest we can eat at our own room.
I have ordered Sweet and Sour Fish, Sichuan styled pork, fried eggs and rice, the taste is fair.
My room was in coach 10, which contains 8 rooms.
After 20 Hours, I have arrived Shanghai and my auntie met me at the station.
And the following is my return leg.
While booking through the online booking system, I've found that most of the flight from Shanghai to Shenzhen are operated by B737 or A320, except daily MD82 from China Southern and daily MD90 from China Eastern. So I chose the MD82 which have a better timing and nearer airport for me (as my auntie is living in PuDong District only 5mins away from the Maglev station).
Taking the Maglev to the airport. Max speed is 431km/h.
My boarding pass, I have checked-in online the day before, so I am the No. 1
Advertising the alcohol at the back of the boarding pass, it seems that containing 68% alcohol.
The 777-200LR from Canada.
My favorite A340-600 from Germany, I really want to take a look the lower floor's lavatories.
The 777-200 from Dubai.
Huh! Where is my gate C221? I know that I have to take the bus...
The new terminal is quite clean and bright. The people there were watching the Olympics Game - Basketball Men China vs. Lithuania
It's time to board!
After getting off the bus,B2136 is here for boarding, somebody like to touch its nose before boarding.
I have exchanged the seats with the lady in 25B, so I've got a aisle seat. The legroom is supreme, if QR A346 have 34 inches, I think this MD82 have 35 inches
The 2+3 layout is interesting.
Drink after take-off. It is coconut juice.
Dinner time!
The meal came with bread, fruit, Chinese pickles and apple chips. It is more than enough for a 2 hrs flight.
I chose the beef rice...it was tasteless.
The lights are so classic.
Classic again.
Seat 25A and 25B.
The flight arrived on time at 2100, I went straight to the airport bus station to take the bus to the Shenzhen Bay Port to back to Hong Kong. After the immigration, I was waiting the bus to back home, the journey will takes 35mins.
Some extra pics:
New bullet trains in Nanjing Station, CRH2 at the front and CRH1 at the back.
VOLVO B7RLE in Shanghai
Comments:
The MD82 is really impressive to me, comparing B737 and A320, it provides better legroom for me. The take-off is powerful, the only minus is its noise. The cabin crew is unexpectedly friendly, they have to work very hard since the flight time is short, but I think they can satisfy the needs for every passengers
Here is the end of my trip report, hope you enjoy!

Interesting TR. Never been on a Chinese carrier before (CX doesn't really count).
The PVG T2 looks impressive and seems more functional, welcoming and airy compared to T1. Looks like I have to make a trip to Shanghai to check T2 out for myself.

Thanks for the report Sutrakhk, very interesting. I don't think there are many reports dealing with domestic Chinese flights, so it was good to come across it.
Quoting OneWay (Reply 2): I think 2+3 is not good for passenger, but you have not the choice.
Well, planes such as the DC-9 and its progeny (MD-80s, MD-90s and Boeing 717s) are too narrow for a typical 3-3 configuration, so the 2-3 configuration is a good idea (and a necessity). In addition, it is actually good for passengers because if you are traveling by yourself or with only one companion, then you can get a seat or seats on the 2-seat side of the aisle. I don't know if it is because of the multiple DC-9s and MD-80s that U.S. and Mexican airlines had (and some still have), but I don't think 2-3 configured planes are weird or bad for the passengers. Just my 2 cents.

Great report, Sutrakhk. I read with special interest after my visit to China last week.

There are several widebody flights between SHA and SZX. We had booked a Shanghai Airlines 763 flight - but it was switched to a 757 in the end.

Not bad. Can't complain about China Eastern's A333 and Shanghai's 757 either.

Yes, the main courses I got were rather tasteless, too. But it's still nice to get a hot meal on such short flights.

I love to read your reports! And the MD-82is one of my favourite planes (hence my name! ). Also I love the A346. I have seen the lower deck lavs on the LH machines. Really wonderful. You avoid long queues like I had with - for instance the KL 772 where all the toilets are spread around the cabin. Beside, also a galley and the crew rest is located at the lower deck.
Quoting Reply 2): Nice trip. I think 2+3 is not good for passenger, but you have not the choice.
Actually I - and many aviation polls confirm this - much rather prefer an aircraft with a 2-3 (or 2-2) seating configuration compared to a cramped (B737) 3-3 config.
