Yesterday I made another daytrip. I decided to fly BGY-HHN, HHN-TRF and then TRF-BGY.
BGY (45°40'26"N 09°42'15"E) HHN (49°56'55"N 07°15'50"E) 339° (N) 509 km
HHN (49°56'55"N 07°15'50"E) TRF (59°11'12"N 10°15'31"E) 9° (N) 1046 km
TRF (59°11'12"N 10°15'31"E) BGY (45°40'26"N 09°42'15"E) 181° (S) 1504 km
Total: 3059 km
I made the Check in online and I drove to Bergamo. The trip is about km 68 and it took one hour.Nothing special to say about BGY. It's always crowded in the morning and every time I go there there are a lot of new destinations shown on monitors.
Departing gate was 13 and EI-CSS arrived as usual ahead of schedule. This is the second time I fly EI-CSS
Delivered to Ryanair on 14/12/2001
Flight fare (all included) € 9,99
Tha airplane took off on from runway 28 and banked left, then after a few minutes turned right towards HHN.
It's always beautiful flying above the Alps
About 40 mins after departure the airplane almost reached FRA and when it became visible it banked left, to HHN which requires 15 more minutes of flight. Unfortunately the pics I took were really bad and the airport was almost invisible. After a few mins this airfield was visible (I don't know what it is)
The airplane then gently landed on runway 21 (which is 3.800 m long) and reached the apron. HHN is nice, I like it so much and there are so many sweets to buy!!
There is also a visitor terrace from which you can see the whole apron and the control tower
There were many cargo 747s, an AN124, MD11F and so on.
Ryanair is at home here, of course, but I saw this “strange Delta 757 which arrived and departed a few mins later, after an Atlas 744F touched down, I don't know where it was from and where it was bound to.
In the next picture you can see how boarding and deplaning are operated in a typical European lowcost airport. No airbridges or buses, you just walk and go. I like this, it's much easier.
Other pictures of the airport and parking areas
I had to wait about 5 hours so I could stroll for a while and buy food even for the evening at TRF airport because I didn't want to change € into NOK.
Something strange happened, because I saw there were check in desks open to Baltimore, and a long queue of Americans going there. Most of them had boxes with live animals inside. I looked at baggage tags they already had and were RMS BWI. RMS should be Rammstein, 60 kms far from HHN.
No USA bound flight appeared on airport monitors.
About one hour before my scheduled departure I went through security controls (fast and efficient as usual) to gate 5 and the airplane arrived. As usually boarding started from people with priority boarding. As described before I walked to the airplane following clear indications
Delivered to Ryanair on 26/10/2007
Flight fare (all included) € 9,99
After take off from runway 21 the airplane made a 200 degrees turn on the right and when we reached FRA we banked 90 degrees on the left. The captain said FL390 and my Tomtom said direction was 2 degrees
I don't know how to link a Youtube link... but these are two video of this part of flight
Everything is OK but there's a problem: I think they should improve arrivals because arriving people enter the airport from departure gates and this is really confusing.
The airport is small, but nice, clean and efficient (except what I said before). There are even Internet free locations. Unfortunately, despite the fact I had a Bretzel bought in HHN I still was hungry, so I bought a Ritter Sport, and they only accepted notes (in Euro), so I spent € 5 for it!!! But I couldn't resist, it's too good!!!
As said before the airport is nice and very green
Here's the exact position
Airplane parking apron (just in front of the gates)
At the right side of terminals there's a small “hill” with a parking lot at the top of it. There's a fantastic airport view; runway, aprons, control tower and the terminal. Really great!!
EI-DWL taking off bound back to HHN
Then it started raining. This is a strange indication, because I'm a member of an Italian forum named PoliticaOnLine (POL) and this seems to be a parking lot for us. I think it's for police
Just in front of the terminal
Then it stopped raining and I went back to the parking lot at the top of the hill close to the terminal. This is the complete view. Really beautiful
It was time to go to gate (which is also arrival hall). This is a view of it
Outbound flight BGY-TRF departed at 18,12 instead of 17,45, so it was a few minutes late
Delivered to Ryanair on 18/09/2007
Flight fare (all included) NOK 120 (about € 15,00)
After pushback EI-DWB backtracked the whole runway so we took off from runway 18, which is the exact direction to reach BGY, so after departure no banking movements were required and this is funny. The flight was OK even if a little bit bumpier then the previous two.
