This is my first time doing a TR,so I hope its acceptable. This trip report is only the second ever on Caribbean Airlines. The first was done my SCL767 on their domestic Dash8 service to Tobago(TAB).

I was very much looking forward to this flight on Caribbean Airlines.I had flown them before on their efficient domestic services to TAB but never on an international flight since its inception on Jan. 1st,2007.It was to be a quick trip to get things in in place for niversity in early spring.I checked in online the day before and was very pleased I did so.The original seats for my dad and I were 15A and B,however, after online checkin,I was able to get much better seats,10A and B,right at the wing root and by the engine!

The flight was scheduled to leave at 8:25am,so I was up at about 4am.The taxi came on-time (5am) and we were on our way to the airport. We arrived at the aiport about 5:45am and proceeded to the online checkin desk.Checkin was exceptionally smooth taking about 12mins and we were given borading passes.I asked what ship we were getting today and the agent looked at his sheet and said "ANU".I was very happy to hear this,as this could have been its first flight since its C-check.

So we proceeded to our gate which was gate 9.

Flight no: BW 484
Aircaft: B737-800
Reg: 9Y-ANU
Route: POS-MIA
Duration: 3.5hrs
Scheduled dep: 8:25am
Actual dep: 8:15am
Flightlevel: 39000ft
Scheduled arr:11:25am
Actual arr:11:12am
J class LF: 100%
Y class LF: 80%
Avg. LF: 90%

We arrived at gate 9 and when I saw 9Y-ANU sitting pretty at our gate.As you can see,her eyebrows were removed to give her the new style look.

9Y-BGI arriving in the background from Georgetown,Guyana(GEO).

This is PH-HZN from Transavia which is on a winter wet-lease to Caribbean Airlines.Couldn't get a good side shot.It was operating BW 661 down to GEO I think.Sorry.....

Our flight was called and and boarding was very orderly and hassle free.I don't know why there are always passengers who no matter what seat no. they have go to board the aircraft before the seat range is called?

Anyway, once I got down the jetway, the purser greeted me warmly and I did the same.I asked him i tis was 9Y-ANU first flight since back from C-check and he said he wasn't sure, but Thoought it was.J class was completely filled!I continued walking down the aisle to claim my seat for the flight 10A.

View from seat 10A.I was very pleased with the view from this seat.Windown was right smack in the middle of my seat,so no leaning forward or backward.

Our purser apparently was very comical. He said welcome onborad to BW 484 with service to Australia.I chuckled to myself as some people were actually checking their boarding passes to see if they were on the right plane.LOL.He immediately said after that"the looks on some of you'll faces were priceless."

Anyway, the Captain came on and thanked everyone for being on-time for the flight which would allow for an early departure to MIA.He also thanked everyone for choosing them as their preferred carrier of choice to MIA.

Just after pushback. The other BW 738 there is 9Y-KIN waiting for its trip to KIN(Jamaica),via BGI and SXM.

The engines were started and we were on our way to the runway.I love the sound of those CFM56's.Instead of crossing the runway to enter another taxiway to take us to the hold-short position at the end of the runway, the Captain simply did a hasty backtrack and with a 180 degree turn, applied full throttle down the runway.

Just after rotation.

Climbing to our crusing altitude FL390..

Meal service soon began which was breakfast.I couldn't remember the 2 options, but all I knew I choose the turkey and cheese sandwich. It was hot,as the cheese was melted an hadn't hardened as yet.The sandwich tasted exceptionally good since I was hungry.

I apologize for the 1/4 eaten sandwich. As I said,I was very hungry and forgot about taking a shot of the meal......

Cruising at flight level 390.

Entertainment was good with the movie "Get Smart" shown and a few other music channels available. The purser said,"Due to our short flight on this Concorde,we will be showing the movie a alittle bit earlier than usual....".Before I knew it,we were descending into MIA and the flight attendants prepared for landing.

Approaching the south-east coast of Florida.

Approach over the city of Miami.

The pilot kissed the runway with an excellent landing.Full thrust was applied, and by full,I mean full thrust,as well as the spoilers and brakes as we were trying to make a certain exit.We did in the end.The purser asked for a nice round of applause for such a nice landing and getiing us there safely.

Caribbean Airlines as re-located to the new terminal at the far end of the airport.Very modern looking from the outside.

We pulled up to gate J2 and the CAL respentative at MIA gave us a warm welcome. We were then invited to disembark the aircraft.

My aircaft at gate J2 after disembarking.

The terminal is very spacious and very modern.Lines for immigration were relatively short as their were alot of immigration booths.Within 45mins we were on our way to the hotel.A very smmoth trip forom beginning to end.

I will recommend to anybody to fly this great airline.Even though its a new airline which is about to turn age 2,the service is very personal and efficient.I hope that you enjoyed the TR and thanks to BZNPilot for helping me add these pics.

Very lovely trip report. The new BW seems to be doing very well for itself. They were on-time (early actually) and, above all, a lot of fun from what I see!

Well done BW424.

hey man, nice TR.
if I wasn't working for them, I'd want to fly them too... :p

sometimes I miss traveling in the cabin. You can't beat us trinis for the "ole talk" on a flight...especially in econony.

are you sure you were in 10A? looks like 10F though.

anyway, hope to have you on board with us again soon.....

Great to read a TR about BW.

Hi BW424, great report! Really enjoyed reading it and seeing the pics. Caribbean Airlines seems like a great airline, I'd like to try them sometime (and of course visit the Caribbean region at the same time)...

Nice that the purser did that. People usually grumble when the pilots make a rough landing (even though a rougher landing is sometimes a safer landing). But when there's a beautiful landing, most people don't even notice. Anyway, it must be nice from the pilots' perspective when someone notices a good one. I always try to tell them on the way out the door if it was particularly impressive.

Thanks for sharing, and I look forward to hopefully reading future reports from you!

Nice TR, Make me wanna do one d next time I fly CAL. ON my return flight from JFK in August on 9Y-SLU the Purser said as we were taxiing to the gate at POS " Safe journey home, be careful on the roads and leave the flying to us". CAL is great and I hope they maintain their quality of service.

Thanks for the report... My wife and I go back and forth alot but on AA. Sadly, my airline doesn't have an agreement with BW to enable us to non-rev on them.

It would be nice if we did though! My wife is from the Caparo area but we're going to build a house in Orchard Garden near Chaguanas. (Just waiting on plans to get back from Town and Country for approvals)

It would be so easy for us to catch them out of FLL when going down to visit family or check on the build..

We'll be heading down on Boxing Day for a few days of drinkin Carib and eatin Doubles...
