Greetings everyone & Happy Holidays!
Since moving from California to western NY a couple years ago, my tolerance for the cold is decreasing by the minute. After enduring temps in the 20's for a month, it was time to thaw out down south for a few days.
Against my better judgment, I decided to fly US (I've been boycotting them since they instituted their nickle & dime beverage policy). I was however rewarded with an instant preferred upgrade to F which is an essential commodity on child packed flights to MCO.
Since I like the pics best in other TR's, I'll keep the commentary to a minimum and let the pics do the talking. I would also like to dedicate this TR to the authors of the following article which has been in the civil aviation forum (see #1 offense):
Security was a breeze at 11AM and within minutes I was at gate 6 for boarding.
My ride to CLT below (in need of a nose job )
Pushback from the gate was on schedule and after a short taxi down alpha we were airborne off runway 23 heading south, leaving the frozen tundra behind.
Instead of snoozing, I was well disciplined and caught up on some reading while enjoying Sun Chips and a cup of tea (where are the real mugs?)
Very flat cloud layer, level at FL380
After an uneventful flight we emerged from a very, very low cloud deck and seconds later touched down in CLT. Taxiing to gate B4, I spotted one of the retro jets; just like the good old days!
With an hour to spare, I could not resist the opportunity to visit my favorite airport BBQ joint!
Fantastic!
After settling my BBQ fix, I headed to gate B11 for boarding.

US Airways AWE FLT 1085
Origin-Charlotte/Douglas Intl (KCLT)
Destination-Orlando Intl (KMCO)
Aircraft-Boeing 757-200 (twin-jet) (H/B752/Q)
Class-F (Envoy) Seat-3A
Departure-02:52PM EST
Arrival-04:03PM EST
Duration-1 hour 11 minutes
I really lucked out on this flight with the Intl configured 757. After a short taxi we were off to MCO. Condensation pouring over the wing.
Enjoying the ample leg room. I'm 6'0 and my legs couldn't reach the seat in front of me.
My neighbor was sleeping so I didn't feel silly taking a few cabin shots.
My nutritious snacks.
Wing shot over the Atlantic just off the coast of GA.
We made landfall just north of Daytona Beach.
Here's a pic of DAB & the Daytona Intl Speedway.
FL Space Coast.
I drive past that plant heading out to the cape for shuttle launches. Nuclear power?
My ride- ship N201UU hiding behind the A320.
All-in-all, a comfortable trip with US. On-time flights, good cabin service and envoy for an hour. I'm still dissapointed with their beverage policy in Y and am leaning toward making Delta my carrier of choice for 2009. I split my time in 08 between the two and Delta has the definite edge in service.
Before leaving the airport I had to swing by McCoy's and have some crawfish chowder.
Happy Holidays from the Hyatt Orlando Airport.
I hope you enjoyed! Thanks for reading.

Nice report!
The Envoy seays on the 757 looked very nice, did the plane also have ptv's in Economy Class?
When it came to the snack and beverage offerings, i must say that it looked to be very poor. A bag of chips and a cup of tea served in a plastic cup is something you would might have expected to get in Y. And even worse, the Y pax don't even get a soft drink. Very bad
Will US ever go back to offering free sodas in Y? Or will they keep the EU LCC'ish concept.

What's that round thing on your plate that looks like ice cream?

That looks delicious! I didn't know that you could get a decent bowl of chowder in Florida.
I thought they only had good chowder in Rhode Island
Thanks for sharing!
I won't stop complaining until SAS reintroduces free service in Economy Class!

I enjoyed your trip report, but was disappointed to see that the only thing served to eat were bags of Sun Chips. I thought that in First Class, US would have upgraded their catering, but I guess not. Once again though, I enjoyed your report.

Great pics, but no food on these sectors in F? The envoy seats on the 757 look nice and the engine looks extra shiney. But no overhead bin extensions?

Quoting TDubJFK (Reply 1): Great report and pics! What a sad F-class service US is, tho -- BUF-CLT just a bag of chips .. and drinks in plastic cups .... wow.
That is what DL would give you on a similar length flight.

US is on par with DL and NW for flights under 90 minutes(minus the real glasses). AA, CO and UA might give you more.
