AF 566 Business Class To BEY

Posted (5 years 9 months 4 weeks 1 day 3 hours ago) and read 14920 times:

Hi all,

Due to the recent change of flying blue (redemption), I no longer see why I should keep flying AF nor keeping the miles....
I've decided to fly to BEY in order to see my mate (another flyer addict). I took the ticket a month ago... And I wasted my miles (30000) for such a damn trip....

Practical informations :

Route : CDG-BEY
Flight number : AF 566
Schedule : 08h50 – Push back : 09h07
Aircraft : B 773ER
Booking Class : O
Seat : 3A

Load factor :
l'Espace Première : 00% but soon filled by the crew for their lunch...... no comment.....
l'Espace Affaires : 40%
Tempo : 70%

Pre-boarding :

I checked in online and for once it worked out. When I reached the airport I went straight to the lounge... Nothing fancy nor stunning a “regular lounge” for AF.

By the way bording was a mess.

Comfort and equipments.

A) Seat : I’ve already experienced this seat several times, and it is not really comfortable even if I slept 2 hours.

Rating : 05,5/10

B) IFE : The IFE was again out of order during all the flight ! I didn't even bother to ask for a reset..

II- Service :

A) Crew service : I'm speechless... I was welcomed by the chief purser and when she noticed that I was flying on an award ticket she told me : well it's not surprising me that your flying with your miles...
What's the point flying on award... I'm not a freeloader... In order to have miles you have to buy tickets... Hate this kind of damn person.

The service on AF flights is extremely inconsistent, and goes from very arrogant and rude ... to regular... or reach the top (once in A to LAX the chief purser and the FA were on par with SQ)... but 1 out of more than 100 flights....

Rating : 01,5/10

B) Meal : With regard to business class standards, the food was very poor, but the worse than that the catering was terrible...

My juice when I sat

The menu... Brunch

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3077/3141364057_322905cba0_b.jpg

To begin : duck fois gras served with chicken and date brochette, cheese and gingerbread.

The main course or should I call that "some puke"

Rating : 3/10

Conclusion : I’ve kept sending them my observations related to catering and IFE for years now, and nothing has changed. The loyal pax is absolutely not considered with AF.

What the hell are they waiting for to change their behavior ?

Hi,

It used to be 100.000 miles in first to US, AF raised to 150.000 miles and in October 2009 it will be 300.000 miles !!!!!!!!!!!!

The IFE is rarely working.... I had a issue that forced me to fly back to France earlier on a F paid ticket... and once again "out of order".....

The main course was supposed to be scrambled eggs...

See ya

Interesting report Milesaddict

Quoting Milesaddict (Thread starter):
I’ve already experienced this seat several times, and it is not really comfortable even if I slept 2 hours.

Then how comes that AF don't want to move the seat back a little bit. I have heard from other people that the feet get stuck in the seat in front when it's fully flay (non bulkhead seats, that is).

Quoting Milesaddict (Thread starter):

Now that was really arrogant of her. She should have figured out that in order to get an award ticket, you must be a frequent flyer. I must agree with you on that some of the crews on AF are some times acting really stupid and arrogant.

Actually i have found the crews on AF to be very nice, aswell as the meals. But this could might have to do with the fact that i alwas fly with them in Y. I have only had one bad experience with the crew so far.

My juice when I sat

What kind of juice was it?

Quoting Milesaddict (Thread starter):

That actually looked really tasty, though the fruit plate only seemed to have orange.

Oh dear Lord! I have heard many bad comments about the J food in AF, but this was simply the worst. What is it? And what ever it was it looked gross  vomit

Any way, after reading your report one can only assume that this is pretty much as good as it can get on Air France Big grin

What I find to be an issue is the comment made by the purser.

I agree with you...

Personally, I would've said something about the IFE... when I fly, one of the things that help me choose an airline is their IFE.. It sucks not having it work the duration of the flight.

Yes, try Delta if you can, though obviously only if you're coming to the US. Anywhere else out of Paris perhaps changing through Amsterdam with KLM?

I'm a bit ashamed to say I used to work for Air France as it's pretty clear the standard of service has fallen dramatically since the early 80's when there seemed to be more pride in their food and service.

Sigh... The fact that you are flying on an award ticket, she should have been down on her knees and kissing your feet. Her behaviour was truly the reverse of what it should have been. You do pay her salary in a way, no?

This is an every day problem for all airlines using this f*****g Rockwell and Collins system.

The service on AF566 is a Brunch. This is scrambled eggs with mushrooms. It may seem "strange" on a picture but it is actually tasting good.
And I know many people in this world who would enjoy to have this kind of "puke" to eat.

Most of the Airlines using R&C have chosen another system for their new aircraft, including AF for the A380.

The problem is that changing the IFE system on the current aircraft in service cost a fortune and would require a long immobilization of the aircraft.
R&C had to pay a lot of penalties to several airlines for the failing and unreliable AVOD/VOD IFE system.
It is getting better now with a new software that is progressively installed on all the fleet (except the B744).

The problem is when I wanted to use the business loo they were all occupied. I knew the FC cabin would be empty.. so when I stepped in the FC the chief purser told me I have no right to be here... because it's private... Bear in mind I just wanted to use the FC loo.

I'm nearly 23 and she also added the fact that if at my age I'm flying in business or FC and I'm platinum, what's gonna be the next stage, a private jet.... She was not smiling when told me that... she was rude.. Once in CDG the lounge attendent told me the same thing we we were laughing... and she was so nice.. there is so many ways to say things...

File a complaint against her. Since you're platinum, i'm sure AF will look into your complaint and you're likely to hear back from them.

I had a similar experience with their partner, KL.

I was seated on the upper deck and had to be "verified" by the female FA that I was actually seated there... Looked me up and down, and asked for my boarding pass. As if that wasn't enough, she further asked me for a photo id.

I was utterly embarrassed.

Well actually you once stated how dump some AF flight attendants actually are there's even a proof. And besides, the f/a could of course COULD think, but she didn't think logical. She maybe thought that he was flying on miles that his father had earned, by considering how young they thought he was.

Here's the proof, if it's allright with you.

Quoting Abrelosojos (Thread starter):
WTF! I mean. This is the most incredible thing I have EVER heard while traveling in J or F. Ok, how the hell can you run out of your ENTIRE J class catering option? How the hell can the FA NOT KNOW this? How the hell does she actually come all the way, and after looking, suddenly figure out there is nothing to eat? How the hell does this happen on a flight with 10% load?! And the worst is she made NO apologies. Nothing. It was like ... a matter of fact, and thats it. Here I was paying a pretty decent sum of money and being told there is nothing to eat! Oh, and there is NO Hors d' Oeuvres left as well?!! WTF! So Madame continued giving me a blank stare and did nothing. She just stood there confused. So anyways (given my hunger, and controlling my anger), I requested her for the food options from the Y cabin or the crew meal or something. Something clicked in her ditzy head, and she said, "Of course Monseiur!"

I will always remember your TR with the Y meal.... but when a FF or not is flying in J even if the catering is lacking (a shame), I would have requested a meal from first class or the crew meal....

The same, including a request for photo id, happened to me recently on LH790 and I'm in my 40's. I just assumed that there had been some form of seat mixup and didn't take offence.
