Fourth leg
MEL – SYD: January 10th, QF 408. B767-300. Seat 3A.
I am having serious difficulties sleeping during this trip. Just when I think I have adjusted to the time difference, I change to another time zone or my sleeping gets all messed up. Last night I went to bed at 10 since I had to get up at 4:30 to go to the airport., I never got to sleep. It’s the second time during these two weeks that I have not been able to sleep at all! I don’t understand, I have traveled many times between Europe and America and have never had these issues. True, this is far more dramatic, but still.
Anyway, back to aviation. I arrived to the airport and went to the Qantas desks. They were easy to find and there was really no line at all. The lady who checked me in was really nice. She booked me all the way to Buenos Aires (next leg) and my suitcase (which keeps getting heavier for whatever reason, I haven’t bought anything!) was tagged all the way to EZE. I went through security and headed for the lounge. Please see the pictures; the lounge is ok, but the food selection was a little limited. I nearly fell asleep so I decided to do something to avoid missing my flight. I decided to try to change my seat for the following leg (SYD - EZE). They had given me a seat on the emergency exit row on the upper deck, which in general is really nice, but I wanted to take videos of the take off and landing, and the flight attendants seat right in front of that seat and I didn’t want them to tell me I had to turn off my camera (it’s happened before to me).
Views from the lounge:
My flight was finally called and I headed to my gate. The airport is nice but nothing special. It was really crowded at the gate and I noticed they didn’t have a dedicated line for business class. I decided to wait and boarded towards the end of the process.

Boarding mess:
Once on board I noticed there were 3 flight attendants servicing my section. Two of them were really nice and kinda hot/pretty (they were girls), and the other one was this lady who apparently still had a reindeer up her butt from the x-mas season. She was visibly in a bad mood. I was lucky, as one of the other 2 took care of me all flight long.
The seat was comfortable. It had really weird buttons, but it was ok.
The flight from Melbourne to Sydney is really short, flying time little over and hour. It really flew by. Breakfast was a sandwich I didn’t really want, but I got it just to show the picture to you all. I mean, that was my objective, but I ended up eating it anyways and I have now a stomachache.
Breakfast:
We landed I believe from the south. We were supposed to fly past Sydney but it was kinda cloudy and I didn’t get to see anything. Touchdown was gentle and the taxi short.
In general, Qantas domestic product was good. Perhaps the seats would feel a little small for a flight across Australia since the reclining is a little limited. I forgot to mention we landed ahead of schedule for a change (we were 9 minutes delayed into Hong Kong, and over and hour into Melbourne).
We deplaned and I walked to the bus transfer service to the international terminal. The bus arrived quickly and during the trip I took pictures of 2 of Qantas’s A380s.

We went through security and customs very fast and then I walked to the Qantas lounge, which is nice and has good views of the runways. I am now waiting for my flight to be called, that should be in theory in about 17 minutes. Stay tuned.

Good report, thanks.
Legroom is rubbish for Business Class, especially when you consider possible segment lengths in Australia.

Wow - great trip report. Jealous of the travel though not of the jet lag!
