A few months ago I went to France with my school on a trip for 3 weeks. THe best price was Emirates at that time. Anyway, at Melbourne was a 773 waiting, the flight was booked out and a few stand by passengers were turned down. Boarding the flight, in First class, for those Australians who know, Eddie McGuire and Sam Newman were flying to London with Emirates to do the Footy show there. This was in June.
Anyway boarding the aircraft, this was the first time I flew a 777 and first time I had used a PTV. It was quite exciting at first since it was something diffrent as well. Flight took off, seemed like it was forever to take off since it was a full flight. Our depature was on EK69 at 19:20. We arrived at Singapore on time, and just over an hour later we were back in the air on our way to Dubai. The PTV's were getting boring after a while though it did kill the time. We started to descend into Dubai, this was my first time to land in the Middle East so I was curious what it was like. The flight was a pleseant one, around 16 hours flying time I think. Well Dubai airport is intresting, the duty free shop is huge and just to see all these Emirates aircraft lined up. My next leg was from Dubai to Nice via Rome.
There was a A330-200 waiting, it was day time now as well. We boarded, I tried to get some sleep but I didn't. I spent most of my time with the hangman on the plane trying to get the top score which I did but it never recorded my seat number. Well, we made our decent into Rome for a quick 30min stop over. From my window I could see a QF 743, an Iran air 747SP. The pax disembarked while the rest of us going to France stayed on. The Captain made an announcment that it was normal that the engines will be inspected, no one paid much attention than another announcment was made that there would be a slight delay.
No big fuss, I decided that I wanted a little upgrade, me and a few friends walked into Business Class and sat down there. it was quite comfortable, the air crew didn't mind, they wereplaying with the PTV's in economy. Well, we were on the plane for about 30mins, and another announcment was made that we would have to disembark becuase they found a problem with the left engine. Not to happy becuase we had a bus waiting for us in Nice. We were given free lunch at the airport and about 3 hours to roam around. They pulled the aircraft away and wasn't to be seen until it pulled to the gate.
Since this flight goes to Nice than back to Rome and on to Dubai, they decided that they would make the flight from Rome to Dubai via NCE. In other words they cancelled our flight, put us ont he same plane but they weren't going to fly back to FLO as they supposed to. It's logical and saves them time I guess, but there was another problem, the air crew were had some limit on the hours they can be working and if the aircraft didn't take off at a certain time, we would be stuck at FLO for a day. Well that didn't happen, wouldn't haven minded a night at the hotel. Our flight was a quick one, about 30mins at 18,000 feet and we landed into Nice. We were about 5 hours delayed in total though I still enjoy flying Emirates.

DXB was great, it was the first time I saw a Russian built plane (apart from the few I saw at Avalon), out of all the places I've been, only seen the usual Boeing or Airbus and maybe the few regional planes i've been on. DXB is just so modern, it's a great airport.
In DXB, i saw the usual 773 and 772 from EK as well as the A330's. There were a few Boeing planes there from other carriers, it was night when we arrived and I spent most of my time in the duty free shop. The flight from DXB to NCE was booked out as well, not sure about business and first but when I passed business to go into the economy part, it seemed pretty full. At Rome I saw my first IL-86 from Aeroflot.

Sorry about that Jason. I did forget to mention about the food. We were given dinner when we left Melbourne and a breakfast just before arrival into Singapore. Economy class food, wasn't bad but can't complain.
From SN to DXB, we recieved two means I think, it's been a few months so sorry I can't remember.
Overall the food on EK wasn't bad, wasn't the best but at least I was able to choose what I wanted, some PAX were stuck with only one choice. Have it or not.
The Fruit seemed fresh, the rice well wasn't that good.
Drink selection, for those in Australia, they don't have "Lift" on EK. What suprised me the most, that EK allowed smoking in the rear section of the plane. I thought that smoking was banned on all flights but they banned it from the 1st August. Are there any other carriers that still allow smoking?
