While the last Revenue flight of a Delta L1011 was on July 31, 2001 from MCO-ATL, the last flight of a Delta L1011 occurred on August 1, 2001 as Delta flight 9930 from Atlanta to Victorville CA. I had the pleasure of being on board this historic flight with over 200 other Delta employees to retire this great aircraft from the Delta fleet. The employees of Delta raised over $23,000.00 dollars for United Way by bidding on seats on the last L1011 flight. Highlights of the flight included a flyby over downtown Atlanta, ATL airport, low passes over Grand Canyon, and a flyby on arrival in Victorville CA.
