TWA's 717 Is The Way To Go!

I flew TWA from Nashville to Moline, IL. (June 01). Of course I had to stop in St. Louis to switch to my connecting flight. Both flights took place on the Boeing 717. Flying in coach doesn't get any better than this. If you are planning to book yourself in coach on a TWA flight and want to get a good value for your dollar, I suggest you try and reserve yourself a seat in row 7 on TWA's Boeing 717. These five seats have twice the amount of leg room compared to that of first class, and you'll be saving yourself several hundred dollars in the process. This is also the quietest aircraft in the TWA fleet!

I took a TWA 717 flight coming back from Labor Day weekend and I really enjoyed the aircraft as well.

I have flown on six of them so far.. five flights in First, one in coach. All were great. It has the best first class of the TWA narrowbody fleet (moot point in another couple of weeks). JAX has been upgraded to all MD-80's so no more B717's for me.  Sad

Nice little planes for short haul trips. Roomier cabin than the Fokker 100.

I wish AA would sell the F100s to Alaska or somebody and buy 200 717s. They would seem to be the ideal companion to AA's gigantic fleet of Super 80s.

I found seat 22A to be the perfect choice- for viewing the jet engine...

It is a great airplane, and I hope to fly on them for a long time to come...

Too bad the have been such a flop.

That has to suck. I know I've had to sit next to the engine on a few MD-80 and DC-9 flights in the past and it wasn't a good experience. However, as long as you book your flight at least 2 weeks in advance, you should have the option of choosing another seat. Smile/happy/getting dizzy

My Experience on the 717 was GREAT. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT. And I even sat in Row 28 and it was still VERY VERY QUIET

Beginning on December the 2nd, TWA's 717s will officially become members of the American Airlines fleet. Also, St. Louis will become an American Airlines hub for the first time in the company's history. Trans World Airlines was a great airline, and I'm gonna hate to see it go. Crying

No no no, I didn't make myself clear.

I booked well in advance- I CHOSE seat 22A, which is the next to last row on the left hand side. I chose that seat because: 1, I always sit in a port side window, and 2, I had seen a pic on this database of a TWA 717 engine, and the photog. said he took it from 22A. So that's where I sat.

And, contrary to what you would expect, I found it to be astonishingly quiet. It was terrific. I used to fly non-rev on American, and that meant the BACK of the MD-80. That's not a pleasant place to sit at all, especially on reverse thrust. Nowadays, I would like that, but back then I did not.

I took a 717 too. STL-ORD. It was a nice ride too. I will surely miss them.
