Reason for Trip:
Had to go back to do the usual health check up and also check out when I can carry out surgery on my right knee ligament which I took out during basketball late last year. As usual my flight will be with Malaysia Airlines and I will forego the Jakarta to Kuala Lumpur sectors as they got so mundane.

Pre Flight
As usual, its another quick overnight stop in KL and meet up old friends for dinner and drinks. We stayed at the Le Meredian at KL Sentral for the convenience of the KLIA express train. But this time, the journey took about 4 minutes longer due to the normal tracks being resurfaced, thus the express train had to use the KLIA transit train tracks. Still we arrived at KLIA with 1.5hrs to spare and as usual, I bought my carton of cigarettes and then just chilled at the Golden Lounge.

My ride to Perth
In Flight
It was another bread and butter flight by MH with exceptional inflight crew.
Food for the day and current issue of inflight mags
J Cabin on MH 772Er’s
MH B744 sitting and waiting to be towed to the gate for another long haul flight
You just gotta love those RR Trents at full power
Seat belt signs just turned off
My fave part of every flight, the meal
I watched some tv shows on the AVOD during meal time and then slept most of the way till top of descent. Anyhow, as they say, a picture paints a thousand words, so I will get the pictures to do most of the talking for me.

Pre Flight
As I have only got hand baggage with me, I decided to arrive about 1 hour before departure. However, when I arrived at the airport, I got to the counter and realized that the flight has been delayed till 1850. Great! Stuck in a boring airport for an extended period is not my cup of tea. I just browsed at magazines in the newsagent and then just parked my butt in the so called newly renovated Golden Lounge. It still looked the same to me though!
Apologies I did not get to take a pic of the interior as it was packed and I did not want to get stares
The bright side about the delayed departure was that I managed to snap pics of several aircraft. Air Asia X A333 9M-XAA, NZ B763ER and TG A333 going to Bangkok.
9M-MRG basking in the sunlight, waiting to welcome us aboard
In Flight
Almost all flights were running late today for some strange reason, heard that the airport had some computer problems (nowadays most things even aircraft delays have got to do with computers!) Once on board the nice surroundings of my MH aircraft, noticed that J was 80% full and economy likewise.
New month, new mags
Nice views of Perth after take off
Luckily the seat next to me stayed empty throughout the flight. This flight was also equipped with Aeromobile and I tested it by texting my wife back in Perth, although my Blackberry did not work.
Mealtime
This was also another one of those flight where I could not get a decent sleep. By the time the flight landed in KL, I was worn out, but as usual, another terrific flight with a fabulous MH cabin crew.

Quoting Linglesou (Reply 1): Hey do you know anything about that "Mineralogy" MD-80 parked at PER?
Thanks again for reading my TR. I actually also do not have an idea where that aircraft came from or who owns it. Actually the interesting part about Perth is that sometimes you do get rare aircraft like this. I bet this aircraft is owned or chartered by one of the mining companies.

Hi ThaiA345,
Nice TR. Having travelled this route before twice, I appreciate MH's B772s, great birds they are.
And everytime I walk on, I look jealously at their J product....
Some really nice pics and the food looks fantastic!!

TG actually uses the same J seats on their B744, A345/6 and B772/3A's. However, on their new A333 and B772Er, they actually have a newer version of this seat, with much wider shoulder room / width, and much bigger IFE screen.
But MH still rocks on the legroom in J. Got another run with them in August, back home to Perth again.
