I initially thought about using Arik back to LOS as I had flown on Aero to ENU, but their special fare overrode any thoughts of paying full fare for Arik. N7,000 (appx $50) for Aero vs. N17,000 (appx. $115) for Arik. The flight eventually was late (so was the early Arik flight) arriving Enugu, but that's because of delay leaving Lagos that morning. Some of the pictures might not be as good as I was trying to be stealthy with the pics. Authorities typically frown when people take pics of public places. I purchased my ticket online so headed straight for security when I arrived.
Duty free shopping. There were probably about 6 stores or so, which are quite stocked with different things. For the size of the airport I think it is adequate. I ended up getting a meat pie & malta guiness for breakfast. No pics of that unfortunately.
Pretty much everyone in the departure hall is waiting for either Arik or Aero morning flight:
I believe this was to be an 8am Arik flight, but it arrived around 10am. Shortly following this flight was my Aero flight from Lagos.
Arik air passengers begin their checkin/boarding after their flight arrives from LOS.
Getting ready to board. I found it pretty amusing that a tractor was pulling the luggage cars.
Boarding pass:
Take off run was strong, lift off seemed almost effortless. Picture of Enugu after lift off. Not much to look at though.
Soon after takeoff, refreshments were served. The standard juice and cake. Boeing 737-400 card, but I believe it was actually a -500 series.
We finally reached cruise altitude at 31,000ft. Captain came on the PA to greet us and welcome us aboard the flight to Lagos. He described the weather in Lagos as "fine" which I thought was funny. He did however go on to give more details on "fine", temperature, cloud cover etc.
About 45mins in the air and we start our approach into LOS. Uneventful flight, very smooth, nothing really out of the ordinary. Just the way I like my flights.
Touchdown was just as smooth as take off, you almost didn't feel the landing. Superperb job by the flight crew.
Some Nigerian Airfore C-130's. Wonder what shape some of them are in?
Airport fire service ready in the event their services are needed:
We prepare to pull into our gate A4
Nigerians are pretty price concious. Airline travel is still pretty pricey compared with alot of other countries. ENU - LOS route obviously is not a big business route as 0% of business class seats were occupied, but I'd probably guess at 80+% load in economy.
Heading down towards baggage claim. I wonder when/if they will start handling international traffic as I walked trough a room that is obviously labelled to handle ECOWAS and other international passengers.
Flat screen displays notify you of which baggage claim is used by what arriving flight
Upon collecting your bags you walk out of the baggage area into arrivals where an attendant verifies your bags with your ticket stubs. A little extra security, a procedure that proves worth while in many instances, a few days later I'd wish something similar took place in the states as lady almost walked away with one of my bags upon return to the states. All bags had come through and there were a couple (one that looked like mine) still circulating the baggage system. Apparently she took mine thinking it was hers.
Below are some other pictures of the MMA2 surroundings including the parking deck, hotel etc. A very lovely day in Lagos, beautiful sky. Lots of ad's, on the parking deck alone there is a Glo Mobile, MTN (mobile phone), First Bank of Nigeria & Zenith Bank ads.

Nice report, Thanks!. I can't tell from the picture but it looks like your aircraft had 2 overwing exits in which case I believe it was a 737-400 (not a -500)
Fly the friendly skies of life!. Enjoy every minute.

Truely that was a beautiful day in usually cloudy/misty Lagos!
The MMA2 terminal looks more settled these days. Nice and efficient. I only wish they would cover somehow those outdoor A/C units. Usually, these are hidden with screens outdoors to prevent people from tampering with them. They also look like an eye sore!
Thanks for a lovely trip report! Aero is surely THE reliable way to fly in Nigeria.
Any reasons given for late arrival of Arik and Aero A/C from Lagos?

I have the same desires as well. Either cover them up/hide them or stick them on the roof. The terminal looks to be built with Central cooling in mind, hopefully that becomes a reality at some point and all the individual split units will be a thing of the past. However split units are very common so I guess for the average person living in Nigeria, it's nothing out of the ordinary/unsightly.

The pilot mentioned traffic out of Lagos as the reason.

It is a 734, you can tell by the lone middle window on the fuselage. And I can see the two overwing exits.

Quoting ENU (Reply 9): Any signs of Dana Air's presence in Enugu? I believe they would commence flights on the LOS-ENU route.
Honestly, I don't remember seeing/noticing anything regarding Dana at Enugu. I do remember seeing some ads about the start of their Enugu flights but I don't know if that was actually in Enugu or not.
Quoting ENU (Reply 9): How many daily flights does Arik operate from ENU, 3xLOS and 1xABV?
