We parked remotely and were bussed to the terminal area. Immigration/customs went pretty quick even though a lot of flights from Europe were coming in around that time. The staff were efficient and organized. The system that US has set up right after customs for passengers in transit is nice, since you don't have to go out and re-check your bags - they're just tossed onto a belt for your next flight. So this makes picking up your bags from the carousel for customs hassle-free. Once I was passed all that and the security check for transiting passengers, I headed over to the lounge.

Summary
Overall, I enjoyed my experience with US. I find US's standard on its international services to be fairly competitive, while the domestic scene could use some work. The staff on ground and in the air were generally efficient and friendly, which has not always been the case in my past experiences flying US. I think US is making a great move in expanding service to more cities in Europe and the Middle East, and in marketing it's solid international product.

Happy flying!

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Thanks for the trip report!

I was surprised by the nice looks of those envoy seats in the 762. I imagined them to be much more worn out and such. The food on both flights looks pretty decent too. It's nice to see that US has improved a little bit.

Where in the Middle East are they looking to expand? I enjoyed your TR. It is nice to finally read a positive trip report about Usairways.

Nice report & pictures, thanks for sharing.

Barcelona is a great city, nned to go back for a refresher visit soon!

Looks like both US flighst were pretty good, even those old seats in the 762 looked reasonable to be honest, had 1 US 762 flight in Envoy myself a few years back, nothing to complain about.

Regards

Mark

Coming through PHL from abroad beats coming through LAX in my opinion.

Quoting PhilInBRN (Reply 3):

US's 762s and A333s are both great, which makes the airline's long-haul product very competitive.

Agreed, Barcelona is one of the most interesting and fun cities in Europe.

Any ideas on if/where you think US should expand next?

Thanks all for the responses!

Whoa! I'm a serious chocoholic (mostly like bitter very dark chocolate, not sweet crap), and I had to put this place on my "must travel to" list.

US actually looks good in this report. Maybe I will have to give them a try int'l, since I fly them domestic already, bravo!  thumbsup

That's what was amazing about this chocolate - it was the real stuff and not overly sweet!

Ahh the donut like thingys dipped in the melted chocolate. My vacation to Southern Spain (Also on US!) just came flying back!! We stayed in Malaga but did a day trip to Sevilla and loved it! Madrid is amazing as well...though very confusing highway system.

US is upgrading all envoy seats the 762's were some of the first ones to get the refurb. On our flight back to PHL from MAD I had listed us in Envoy, but we weren't too upset when we didn't get the upgrade and saw the poor condition they were in...at least the "premium" product is coming up.

Great TR!

Ok, wait for the RJ to pass, cleared to push tail south Mike, and you're cleared to spin #2 in the push.
