Hi Guys,
So this is the return sector, unfortunately coming out of MXP, TG uses their new B772ER, thus no F class, but its also a chance for me to try out the new 2nd Gen Lie Flats on this new bird.
12 July 2009
Barcelona (BCN) – Milan (MXP)
Lufthansa Italia LH 1793
Aircraft: A319
Rego: D-AILI
1st Flight: 5 February 1997
Seat: 3A (Business Class)
ETD: 1455
ETA: 1610
ATD: 1500
ATA: 1618
Flight Time: 1hr 10min
Preflight
Got off the cruise and to the airport with 1.5hrs to spare. Somehow the business check in took ages although there were only 3 people in front of me, as for economy, it did not seem to move at all! After finishing up our formalities, we had a quick bite at McDonalds before browsing the shops. By the time we got to the gate boarding had already begun. But not before I managed to take some snaps of the new termainal.
D-AILI, a former German Wings bird
Inflight
Took our seats and were greeted by a fairly cheerful crew.
The now standard recaro seats onboard LH birds
Hint of where this aircraft is seconded to
Push Back and scenes on route
Boring meal on this short hop to MXP
Onroute, Cote’Azur, Nice and Monaco
Looks a pretty full load in both classes today to Milan. Flight was another uneventful one, had the meal, read thru the inflight mags and then before I know it, we were already descending towards Milan. The route itself was a scenic one as we flew past the Cote d'Azur and Monaco. This aircraft is 100% LH, the only hints that it was Luthansa Italia is with subtle points on the headrests and cabin crew uniform.

14 July 2009
Milan (MXP) – Bangkok (BKK)
Thai Airways TG 941
Aircraft: B777-200ER
Rego: HS-TJV
1st Flight: 13 September 2007
Seat: 15K (Royal Silk / Business Class)
ETD: 1405
ETA: 0555
ATD: 1400
ATA: 0533
Flight Time: 10hr 31min
Preflight
After a quick 2 days of shopping and taking in the sights of Milan, off we were to the aorport again. Arrived almost 3 hrs before the flight as I wanted to also get my tax refunds. After completing all my refunds and check in, we had a quick meal at the food court. After which, managed to snap these pics
Common use lounge
MXP is starting to look its age, but at least its still nice to navigate thru this airport. After browsing thru the duty free shops, I was shocked to find out that there are no smoking areas airside! So I had no choice but to park my sorry butt in the lounge.
HS-TJV ready to take me to BKK and also for my onward flight to KUL
Inflight
Only single door 2L was being used. Boarding went by pretty quick, but the aircraft was really hot like a sauna! Looks pretty full in both J and Y. This B772ER has the 2nd gen lie flats. It basically wins as it has better width space. The seat overall also looks more solid and rigid than 1st gen seats.
Amenity kit
Obligatory visit to the loo
Flown on so many B777 flights, but still love the look of those Trents!
Meals for this sector
Cargo doors about to be shut and away we go
I really had a hard time trying to get some sleep. All I managed was around 2hrs. Rest of my time was just spent watching videos on my laptop.
AVOD system same as on B744, B772/3A, A345/6, albeit with a much larger monitor
Meal time
And the last meal for this sector, breakfast commenced about 1.5hrs before touchdown
After a very bumpy descend into BKK, we decided to head for some complimentary massage at the Royal Orchid Spa although it wasn't as complete as the full massage we got from the 1st Class service. Afterwards I looked at the monitors and realised that the very same aircraft that took me to BKK will also be taking me to KUL.
Service: 7/10

Bangkok (BKK) – Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Thai Airways TG 415
Aircraft: B777-200ER
Rego: HS-TGV
1st Flight:
Seat: 12A (Royal Silk / Business Class)
ETD: 0905
ETA: 1205
ATD: 0900
ATA: 1150
Flight Time: 1hr 50min
As I was so dead by the time I got onboard for the short hop to KUL, and later the MH flight from KUL to CGK, I opted not to write up or take pictures but just to sleep my time away.

Hi Herbert.
Thanks for another nice report
Did TG compensate in any way for the 777-200 experience or did you know when you booked the trip? Flew TG's 777-200ER with the second generation seat to CNX and found them to be a wast improvement over the first generation.

I always knew its gonna be a B772ER operating the route from MXP, so what I did was just buy a round trip ticket in J, and use my ROP points to upgrade the BKKFRA sector to F
Quoting SASDC8 (Reply 1): My 777-200 had a window in the loo, nothing like SK's two windows but still nice
Yup...but hey ..I will take 1 window to no windows ahahah...nothing like taking a morning crack at the loo with a view of the Alps below you ehehehhehe
Thanks again for reading Stein, when is your next TR gonna be up?

Wonderful Part 2 once again!
El Prat's new T1 really looks impressive from the pictures taken. It's much much better than the T1B (The last time I was in BCN was when the terminals were still alphabets!). Looks like I should do a trip to BCN once again!
Sigh. Reading impressive trip reports of this standard ain't as fun as travelling. Looking forward to my ungrounded state! Just 4 more long weeks!

You should i always like going to BCN although its always only for a short while. However, as you have seen from my earlier TR, be prepared for a long wait for your baggage!
Quoting Nicholaschee (Reply 3): Looking forward to my ungrounded state! Just 4 more long weeks! Sad
Trust me, when the time comes it will be well worth the wait, makes the trip a whole lot more meaningful

Hi!
I read both parts of your trip. Interesting and detailed as always! Thanks for sharing. In 3 weeks I will make my frist trip to Asia. Between I will fly TG in C HGK-BKK-HKG. Therefore it's very usefull to read your reports.
BTW, did you check out the new Towerlounge in FRA?
It's above the Business/Senator Lounges at the A pier. You can enter it from gate A65, and as I heard, also as a Schengen traveler with an elevator.
You are flying a lot on Star Alliance. Are you a Senator or FTL? Then check out http://www.miles-and-more.com , enter your card details to look into your private lounge and there are pics and details about the lounge.

If I travel within Europe, I would normally use LHR as a base and do vv trips. So it's always a 22" rollerboard I would love to visit Nou Camp again and enjoy the Tapas bars.
I remember going to this restaurant up a hill (Gosh. I can't recall the place), which had excellent baby/spring lamb.

If only it was J all the way and not a mixture of J/Y.
