I figure I would get this over and done with before I go to bed otherwise it won't get done. After my pleasant night with AA and the A300, I managed to get 4 hours of sleep and a shower before heading out to JFK to travel to ANC today. Arriving at T3, I went inside to print my boarding pass and drop my bag off. I made sure my bag was checked all the way to ANC as fellow member SMFBase had issues with AA the night before. I wonder if they located his bag? I went outside to have a couple cigarettes before I went thru security. I got some nice shots of the ramp with a DL 763ER with winglets and a NW A319. There was a cop outside having a smoke as well, so I decided to get some info from him about airports and photography. Apparently, pictures of infrastructure are prohibited, while ramp pictures are prohibited from non-sterile areas, its fair game beyond security. I thanked him for his time and made my way to security. There was a family of 5 traveling on EK in front of me. Within 5 minutes I was on the otherside and went to grab a bite to eat. Slim pickings that early in the morning. At 0940, SMFBase joined me as we were both on 1463 to ATL. We went to the Crown Room to get a good view of the ramp before we went to board. We headed down to gate 3 and boarded at 1045. The aircraft was an international configured 757 with the new seats. I took my seat and in short order, we were ready to go. Door was closed at 1104 and we pushed at 1110. We taxied out and were notified by the captain that we had a wheels up time of 1140 due to spacing at ATL. We sat for about 12 minutes and finally go out of town. Takeoff was nice and I was quite surprised at the power of the PW's as my only 757 experience was with RR. We climbed out and made our way down to ATL. I played with the IFE for a few minutes but couldn't get the screen to work right. It kept freezing on me so I gave up and chatted with my seatmates, a WW2 veteran and a netjetz pilot. Had a great chat with those guys and made the time pass really fast. Shortly after crossing FL010, the FA's started the drink service and I was able to obtain a can of orange juice. The FA was pretty snobby once I declined a cup of ice. However the rest of the crew was in good spirits. Before long, we started down into ATL. I want to say we landed to the west on the north side of the field, but my headings might have been messed up as it was my first trip to ATL. We taxied for a few minutes before being held up for about 6 minutes waiting for aircraft to move down the line so we could take our gate at T7. I deplaned and met up with SMFBase again and we made our way to the train. I got off at Terminal A and said my goodbyes as I made my way down to the gate that would take me on my most anticipated trip of the week, DL 1625 ATL-ANC departing from A2.

I waited for most of the folks to board before I made my way down the jetbridge as a lot of people had huge carry-ons and I didn't want to be held up in that sauna they call a jetbridge. I made my way onboard at 1444. Boarding was delayed due to late arriving aircraft and we also had an issues with some navigation equipment that MX took care of in short order and at 1458 the door was closed and we "pushed" at 1501. We made our way out to the active and departed out to the east it felt as a left hand turn after departure had downtown in view out the rightside. Also note, due to hot weather and a heavy load, the captain opted for a packs off takeoff to increase takeoff performance. Apparently, on the 763, seat 13a does not have a window. I had to lean almost against the seat in front of me to get pictures and some video. After takeoff and some pictures, I tried to AVOD on this bird and it worked with no problems. The FA's started beverage and food service shortly after passing FL290. I got an orange juice and the meal was a chicken with some kind of sauce, a bread roll, a tiny salad with thousand island, black beans, corn, potatos and a brownie. It was really good except the bread which was really stale. I managed to watch Fast and Furious, The Ghost of Girlfriends Past and another movie but can't remember the name of it. but it had John Cena. All very good movies. I took a lot of pictures of Manitoba, Alberta, Yukon and Northwest Terrotories, and Alaska. On a funny note, when arriving into ANC, the 757 that was to take me SLC-ANC had just been cleaned and was getting ready to board as I was leaving the North terminal. I let the pictures speak the rest of this report as that is some of the most beautiful scenery in the world.
Anyways, after a sample of AA and then flying DL, I have to say, the inflight products aren't much different other than AVOD on DL. I really enjoyed the cloth seats of AA's economy cabin versus the leather in DL's economy cabin. If you could combine the comfort of AA with the IFE of DL, they might be on to something.
