Hi, this is a photo report of my recent return trip on the South African low cost carrier 1Time, from the coastal city of Durban to Johannesburg, the business hub of South Africa.
The phrase "one time!" is a South African expression meaning "for real!".
1Time operates a fleet of MD-82 and MD-83 aircraft and serves Johannesburg, Cape Town, George, Port Elizabeth, East London and Durban. They have also recently started international operations and now have twice weekly flights from JNB to the tropical island of Zanzibar, just off the Tanzanian coast.
I was really fortunate to catch a glimpse of senator Hillary Clinton's plane at DUR on the day of my departure, and have included a photo of it here in my report. She was on an official visit to several African countries. Sen Clinton was still on the plane when I took the picture, whilst the B757 was being surrounded by security vehicles and personnel.
I have also included a few pictures of the interior of O R Tambo International airport, as well as of the outside, and of the GAUtrain project that is still in progress. The GAUtrain will initially link O R Tambo with Sandton, but it will eventually run all the way through to Pretoria. This high speed train will be in operation when the Soccer World Cup kicks off in 2010.

Welcome to a.net! Good photo report, looks like the new infrastructure at JNB is coming along nicely!
The report brings back memories, I flew 1time JNB-DUR to my wedding (just outside DUR) with my family. Some other friends only just made the flight, after having ran from the international arrival from London! We'll be back at Christmas, the in-laws are in Pinetown, but flying SAA and Kalula.

Great photo report - I really need to visit JNB one day. Is the Intercontinental Hotel close to the airport? Is there a hotel which offers airport view?
The 1Time menu looks nice. How are the prices?

Quoting SAflyer (Reply 4): Hi! The Intercontinental Hotel is within walking distance of the airport terminal, as indicated by the red star on the map below.
That's close. Thanks a lot!
Quoting SAflyer (Thread starter): I think the prices are quite reasonable, taking the current exchange rate into consideration.
