Since most of the details on the FRA-HKG / Y leg have already been reviewed and discussed extensively, I decided to focus on the small/reluctant details on my first long-haul - and TR

01SEP09
LNZ-FRA
Sky Conditions: clear (CAVOK?)
Equipment: Avro 100
Duration: 00:45

Check-In & Security Process was a breeze - well organized, friendly staff

Avro Seats - My general feeling is that they were more comfortable than the LH 747 Y ones...

Before crossing the German/Austrian border:

Refreshment Service:

Inflight boredom:

The obligatory FRA T1 shots:

FRA-HKG
Equipment: 747-430
Duration: 10:50

Load factor: 89% Y, 80% J ... not sure about F

Dinner/Breakfast: The classical Beef or Chicken choice...

Sharp left turn after 25R departure:

Somewhere over Guiyang:

In flight boredom... (taken upon boarding process...)

Some HKIA randoms:

My overall impression is that LH Y service, apart from their poorly equipped 747 Y, is quite a fair choice if you live somewhere near an LH apt.

Did you also have any pictures of the inflight portion of your trip?

Very nice and unusual report!

The pics were simply amazing! I suppose you must have used a DSLR camera, and some sort of may f/1,8 or f/1,4 prime lens, no?  Smile

The perspectives were rather extraordinairy. But the short depth of sharpness on some of them, seem a bit much on some pics e.g the aisle/ flight attendant pic on the first flight. Did you add some of those effects on photoshop?

Anyways it was a nice little bite size report, and I would love to see more from you, soon!

Thanks  Wink

Looking back to my flights now, leaving out the meal pics was a real fail IMO. Getting out all the gear from the bag in the typical Y "window corner" (I'm just 171cm...) would've been a tough process...

I'll still try to add the exact menu choices here -

LH4116:
Yea, tried to focus on the smaller details here - the previous HKG TR w/ LH have already been covered in almost every aspect.

I was using a Canon 24 1.4L for the pics - and nope, no changes, apart from picture resizing were applied.

As promised, the Economy Class Menu on my LH Y flight:

Dinner

Hors d'oeuvre:
Iceberg Lettuce with Corn, Cucumber, and Carrot Strips accompanied by Italian Dressing

Entrees:
Breast of Poulard with Cream of Porcini Sauce, Broccoli, Carrots
Mushroom Ragout and Spätzle

Fried diced Pork in Soy Sauce with mixed Bell Pepper Juliennes and Basmati

Dessert
Apple Madeira Cake

Breakfast
Fruit Yogurt

Entrees:
Omelette with Turkey Ham and Tomato

Beijing Egg Noodles with Tomatoes Leek and scrambled Egg

Beverages
Sparkling Wines
Red and White Wines
Spirits German Beer
Soft Drinks Mineral Water
Coffee Tea

As for "taste experiences" on the above mentioned offerings: Well, it's a typical Y Meal. Better than on some UA flights I've had - but definitely nowhere near SIA. It's "good"/OK -

Cheers,

En route to HKG, my seat was 48K. Not the best choice for wing ciew shots - lessons learned  Wink

Are the LH Avros configured 3-2 or 3-3?

Next flights: MEX-GRU (AM 77E), GRU-GIG (JJ A320), SDU-CGH (G3 73H), GRU-MEX (JJ A332).

The LH Avro 85 config. is 3-3 - sounds worse than it actually is - My general impression is that moving around inside their avro, in comparison to a typical 738 charter, is better.

Interesting report.

The pictures were excellent, sharp and different, however the 'report' did lack any substance or feel as how the trip actually was, don't mean to be critical as I enjoyed the pictures, but it offered little info or detail which might be of use to somebody who might consider LH but was looking for evidence or info on what their flight might be like.

- I guess you mean the Avro 85?

Really nice report with good pictures, I like that different style. But maybe you can add some more pictures next time.

I cannot agree with that. It feels terribly cramped on these jets with 3-3 configurations.
