This is my first trip report in A.net.
Its about Cathay Pacific BOM-DXB sector and will post return if time permits me.
Please feel free to comment on the trip.
I was visiting Dubai after 5 years because i decided to spend diwali with my extended family staying there. It was my first diwali abroad.
I chose CX because i am a OW flyer esp with BA.but i preferred to pay and accumulate more miles.
It was a fabulous morning, excited to meet my father who stays there after 2 month, i couldn't stop counting days, hours, minutes, and finally seconds.
I packed all my bags 5 days before the flight(for the first time i felt so excited flying though its just after 2 months !!).Maybe coz i'm meeting dad after many days!!
So the flights starts with a series of downs and ups.
First my driver was late. Secondly while driving to the airport, we were stuck at the traffic for 30 mins...but its Mumbai...used to it!!
This is where online check in helped me.The previous night i managed to book the sears just above the wing of the A333X.I dint get the aisle !
But i'm not complaining!!
Reg:- I dont know!!
So we reached at airport 85 mins prior to takeoff and check in was swift!!!!Baggage went in fast, i was given my boarding pass.
CX check in counter.
But then the immigration was slow...A big line..but then it was just a 7-8 min matter and once done, the security was quick.Guys i was clean! :P
Then the duty free section. The prices were touching the skies.A Gucci bag for INR 14000, 300$. as much as my ticket!!
So when we reached the gate, the boarding was just about to begin, and we were given orange pass, so first green then something...then something again..and then yippy orange!!
So i went in and gave the boarding pass, and then there was a line. When i was walking in,someone said flat NO!.Then i realized there was a security guard checking the handbag tags, and since i my tag was on the other side,he couldn't see it. So i stood there for 1 minute showing him my tag, telling him "dekho dekho!!"(look look) in a weird way.I was in a jolly mood.
The gate counter.
Then i just walked past the bridge to the lovely A330-343X( my first in a A330).there was a nice FA welcoming me onboard.I thanked them.
IT-Doing BOM-HKG night route.
Well the dark seat was something i dont prefer.Maybe because i like the EY and EK fabulous seats which are light!!!! They are not bucket seats, but the thing under the buttocks move ahead which gives the recline position but eats up the leg space for while i dont prefer.
Some pics from inside.
But from the sides, ie.the breadth is fantastic, better than those 10 abreast in EK and sadly now in EY with the T7's.
Air India BOM-JFK non-stop with 777-200LR.
One thing that amazed me that i requested water from the purser as i sat on my seat. It dint come after telling him 3 times.Well we are all humans.I dont mind.
One hilarious thing happened. Our flight was delayed by 10 mins because our pushback truck was missing!! i was like !!hahaha.
Take off was wayyyy smooth.Infact the bird is so quiet!!!! wonder how the A380 will be?
Climb was rather slow, i checked, i took 35 mins to get to FL380, then FL390.
Well, i had ordered 4 hindu meals but recd only 3 ..Its ok, but i wont call the meal tasty...it was ok.but my bro's hindu meal was awesome .All NV.
nice legroom. But when you recline, it is a bit uncomfy.
I noticed there was a rude FA there. He was full of attitude man.And as i said, i was in a happy mood, i told him something which he shall remember his lifetime!!
But i found, ALL, ALL FA were nice.Esp the manager. i was a bit hungry thru the flight, there was nothing in galley .But then she gave me something from the crew meal which i found was a nice human touch!!.
The rest of the flight was pretty uneventful, the IFE was nicely working with some minor gitches But it was nice.
While descending, the aircraft came into some turbulance, the girl, in 20, next to my row (2-4-2) was so freaking and was like murmuring like omg omg..please stop please stop...
I dint tell her anything but saw that many people like flying, but they dont like turbulence...it is something which comes with the package .I was far very mild one.
The touch down was a kiss, i could feel the A333 just landed around 150fpm.I'm a aviation student btw .There was no shaking of windows and no bags falling from the top!!(this happened to me in SpiceJet flight back 4 months back, but it was due to rain, it was a freaking rough landing!!!!).
This time, people dint stand up after landing immediately, fab!
Taxing was just 1 min and the engines were cut off!!.
Another fabulous trip just ended. The baggage was quick, and controlled.
SV 772 to Jeddah
SV to Jeddah
DL77L to Atlanta
Then the customs, immigration, then there is a Retina scan done while coming, so there was a bit rush there as UA, DL had landed and a lot of foreigners were made to scan their eye, and then the clean chit was give, and we happily rushed to meet my father!!
Dubai is such as awesome please.
Please wait for the return sector. Will write soon.

ok the return sector.
Seat:- i dont know!
the check in at dubai airport was fast and by 15 minutes i was inside.
And this time, my dad gave my a surprise in the last minute saying that he had some work or something, but when i saw, he was coming with us till the security, then the checkin, and i felt a fool on my face that why i couldn't understand he was flying with us back!!.
So with a nice smile in my face, we reached the terminal and did some shopping in Duty Free.
Guess what, i saw the HRH Shaikh Mohammad there in the airport. He was probably with his son there. But i dont know why.But it was great to see him.
So i was with my family and was feeling bored. So i thought why not just look around.
My family was not interested and was hungry, so they sat in Mac.
I walked down almost 1 km in the Terminal, just to see where the A380 is.But seems that the last flight departed at 5pm A380.I was sad indeed.
A FABULOUS LAMBORGHINI!!
But before i knew, i was lost in the airport. And being very frank guys i enjoyed every but of it.But it was not until my dad lost his cool and told me the flight was waiting esp for me.Lol i made them 3 mins late!! .lol. I dint have the watch btw.
So take off was a powerful one.
One thing i noticed that this time, the pilot stopped the plane, but the brakes till 50% N1 and then realize the brake which kind of created a jerk. But it was way powerful...Gosh!!
And i wont forget to mention that this time the seat belt light's weren't extinguished until 11550 feet, and we had a nose up climb, and yes the aircraft was under speed restriction.Under 255 knots.
So again i dint receive the hindu meal i dont know why but i dint complain, indeed contrary to my previous report, there was a nice sweet fabulous F/A who was "Extremely, Extremely" good one.
One thing here, My IFE was not working for the first 45 mins.My bad.
Anyways this time the two pilots were Americans.I met them later after we landed. They were extremely nice to me and even let me take the shot of the cockpit.
Wow my first cockpit visit in A330.Infact my first time in the A330.FABULOUS!!!!MARVELOUS!!!!This gave me another reason why i should be a pilot.
Before landing some swine flu prevention spray?(saw this for my 1st time.It dint happen to me in BOM-DXB sector.)We were given some paper before landing for medical checkups.
Its stopped now.
And yes i was a nose down approach...i could feel it.
The touchdown was a bit hard...like a bump!!We had to wait after we exited the runway for a 9W 737 was taxiing for takeoff.
CX A333X, my first on a A330!!
At the airport, there was a big line, and then the baggage took 45 mins to come out....
Ahh....another nice trip had come to an end ....I dint want to go back home ...but then i had too...I missed my granny back there!!!
I hope you guys enjoyed reading my trip as much as i did experiencing it. It was fabulous.

It's an aerosol spray. IIRC every international flight into India is required to have it sprayed throughout the cabin prior to landing. Unfortunately, there is no such as thing as a H1N1 prevention spray
