hello everyone -
a bit outdated trip report, almost 2 years from now, but is good to share things and hear different opinions  .
This trip report is for my trip back home to Macedonia, during my internship stay in Nordt Brabant (Tilburg & Eindhoven) , The Netherlands. Once I got clearance from the company I had the internship that I am good to go for one week vacation back home, I started to check my options for going back home. There wasn't too many options, it was either WizzAir from Brussels-Charleroi or Dortmund to Sofia, or Germanwings from Cologne to Skopje. Surprisingly, the ticket to SKP was only 120 EUR for round trip ticket, something that is kind not imaginable for Skopje Airport. I quickly booked the ticket, this was my opportunity for first time too to use the airport in Skopje, since before that I was "forced" to go to Belgrade or Sofia, mostly because of the price difference.

I took the intercity train the night before from Tilburg and I set my destination to Cologne. After about 3 hours trip to Cologne, friend of mine waited for me at the Cologne Central Train Station and we went to his apartment.

Couple pictures of Cologne:

Next morning, I woke up around 8, prepared for the trip, and my friend took me to the airport. The ride was about 30 minutes.

Almost there:

I didn't have too much time to take some photos from the terminal building, I went to the gate right away.
Here is our plane waiting patiently for us:

The bus is arriving:

Few photos from the tarmac:

Once in the plane, I took few more photos:

The terminal building from the airside:

The load factor for this flight was around 80%. The cabin crew getting the cabin ready for takeoff:

We are the next for takeoff, after the landing of this Lufthansa B737:

Seatbelts fasten, full thrust and beautiful weather and we were airborne soon:

I am really enjoying flights when the weather is like that day.

Setting the heading to SKP:

Somewhere around Cologne, as far as I remember:

After some 30 - 40 minutes we hit the Alps:

Almost done with the Alps

The flight went pretty smoothly, there was BOB menu, I had some croissant and coffee I think..

On approach to SKP, flying near the city of Kumanovo, Macedonia:

The approach and the landing you can check here:

Few pictures of Skopje Airport:

Air base:

Control tower:

Only one other plane at that moment at the tarmac, CRJ900 of MAT Macedonian Airlines. The airline is not operating now, but there are rumors that it will start with operations again.

Our Airbus from Cologne:

Airport entrance:

That's all from me for this report. I really hope that once the new operator of Skopje Airport, TAV Holding from Turkey will start operating with the airport, the airport will be redesigned, rebuilded and get some more traffic.
The condition right now is awful and is not better than some airport in third world country.

Thx for reading and comments always appreciated.

That figure is still quite a few flights for someone of your age!

Thanks for sharing. I can't believe you got such a great deal on the airfare. That's unheard of for SKP. There's been a lot of new service announcements to BEG, so hopefully that will stimulate growth in the rest of the region.  crossfingers
