This was the continuation of my previous flight from Sydney to Taipei.

Flight Number: CI619
Registration: B-18211
Aircraft: Boeing 747-400
Gate: A9
Flying time: 1hrs20min
Scheduled Dept Time: 21:30
Actual Dept Time: 21:20
Scheduled Arrival Time: 23:15
Actual Arrival Time: 22:45
Takeoff Runway:

There were about 2 hours of transit time between my connecting flights

Through to transit area

To CAL’s VIP Lounge

Business Centre: there were a few PC terminals and a printer

General seating area

Food selection was descent

Plus a noodle bar offering traditional Taiwanese noodle

Time for boarding

Very 70s

Equipment change from A330 to B744

That gave me the chance to sit up at the front Smile

Ready for takeoff

Bye Bye Taipei

Quick refreshment

A nice touch to have somewhere to place your clothes or to change onto your slippers.

Plus a window

Approaching HK

Welcome to HK

Like my previous leg, the service and catering were great despite the length of the flight.

I certainly look forward to my next CI flight Smile

Have been myself in that waiting area, which I found really creepy for some reason. Not to mention it smelled of some disinfectant or some bug spray. Was very uncomfortable and couldn't wait to board again.Stopped with MH from LAX to KUL and on the way back too. Nice that you flew on the 744. The interactive map looks neat, and the light in the washroom very classy.!

Very nice report (this one as well as the previous segment). Great that a 744 got subbed in and you got to sit in the F cabin!

I can't say I like the decor - all that fake wood and the yellow and purplish-blue (?) color combination does not do much for me. But nothing is quite like Zone A of a 747 and the seats certainly look comfortable. Very impressive catering for a short route as well.

TPE does look like a grim airport, though - all that pink lino...! Definitely in need of a makeover, especially in light of what other airports in the region are like.

That beef noodle soup at the CI lounge looks delicious! I got back from Taiwan two weeks ago and I'm going through beef noodle soup withdrawal.

TPE's Terminal One is indeed grim, as someone put it, but my understanding is that there is a massive renovation project either underway or starting soon. Terminal Two is a lot better, although still not in the class of HKG, SIN or ICN.

Yeh, T1 at TPE is a rather grim but then, I kinda like it as it reminds me of those older style airport...haha...bringing back memories from Kai Tak for me.

I sure was over the moon when I realised they had changed my flt from an A333 to a B744, I simply looooooooooooove 747....esp when I get the chance of sitting in the nose section, it feels so exclusive and not to mention the view from 1A/K. It's as close as the pilot's view 8-)

Renovation has already begun... you sure don't want to walk through Terminal 1 now cause it's a disaster w/constructions. I do like TPE Terminal 1 as it reminds me old airport style too... but then it does get kind of tiresome.

Great you got the 744 subbed... and it was the newer version too! Lucky you =)

I love the gates with the high ceilings. This brings back memories of my TPE transits in the 1990s.

It's grim, old, and dingy, but I've got a lot of really fond memories of that T1 myself haha.
