Hi all!
This is my first trip report.
I am originally from Stuttgart, Germany but now live and work in Boulder, Colorado. I usually fly the Denver - Germany route 3 to 4 times a year for business travel or visiting my family and usually take LH DEN-FRA-STR or BA DEN-FRA-STR or DL DEN-ATL-STR. I took a remaining return flight which I still had open from summer this year with Lufthansa on the 20th December to get to Frankfurt. This time over Christmas the prices for flying to Germany from Denver were extremely high, so I decided to take this rather unusual route. I booked a one-way ticket on Condor which I could upgrade with my miles from Lufthansa to their Comfort Class.
On the 3rd January I flew on Condor from FRA to LAS and then Frontier Airlines from LAS to DEN.
Check-in for the Condor flights is in the Terminal 1c at Frankfurt airport. There was a huge line at the economy check-in but there was no one at the Comfort Class check-in. Condor has several Economy Check, 2 Premium Economy Class and 1 Comfort Class check-in counter opened on that day. Check-in was very smooth and very quick, you get a priority sticker on your bag and access to the Business Lounge in Frankfurt or a 20 Euro coupon for duty free shopping. I took the coupon as I arrived very late at the airport due to bad road conditions and snow that day (the normal 1.5h car drive was almost 3hrs this time).
Boarding was from Gate C7. It took a long time to get through security as Air India was also boarding their two B777 to the US from C8 and C9 (which share the same security check point) at the same time. It was snowing very hard when we took the bus to the aircraft.
US Airways A333 snowed in at FRA
My ride for the next 11:40hrs
Condor's B767-300Er
My window seat 3k
Legroom was very good
Every passenger gets a red rose, which I thought was very nice
The flight was fully booked, there were no empty seats in Y, Y premium and C Class. After the doors were looked the captain informed us the our flight time to LAS will be 11:40 hrs and that there will be a delay due to the weather condition an de-icing. It turned out that we had to wait nearly one hour for de-icing. In the mean time the flight attendants served us drinks and snacks. After de-icing was completed we headed to RWY 18 for take of. There were over 6 aircraft in front of us (2x LH A346 and 2 LH 744, 1x DL A332 and one DE 753). Take-off was one of the most powerful I experienced. The engines were set to full throttle while breaks still applied and climb out was very steep and quick, very unusual for FRA?
Cruising after take-off
Unfortunately, I did not take a picture of the main course, but food was very delicious, better than on a LH Business Class flight I had 2 years ago.
Here is the menu for the flight which consisted of a 5 course menu, the wine selection was also excellent:
Starter:
Tunafi let on green papaya salad and seaweed
Marinated breast of duck on fine red cabbage salad and
roasted pumpkin seeds
Chickpeas- Blini with chive Creme Fraiche and black cumin
Fresh winter salad
with sauteed oyster mushrooms in Potato Dressing
Main dish:
Steak of veal with mustard herb crust
at spinach and potato tartar
or
Braised cod fishfilet with Bouillabaisse sauce,
sugar snaps and stockfish puree “Brandade”
or
Porcine Ravioli with two kinds of cream sauces
and mushroom vegetables
Cheese:
Bergader blue cheese with fig mustard
From the bread basket
Bread · Roll · Butter
Dessert:
Chocolate pistachio tartlet
on sweet chilly sauce with whipped cream and chocopops
Coffee · Tea · Digestif
In-flight snack:
Crème BruIèe from Licorice
with Muscat sabayone and Hazel nut crunch
Before landing:
Caesar Salad
with shaved Parmesan as well croútons
and Butterried chicken skewer
We also got some ice cream after 7 hrs into the flight as well as other snacks when requested. Food was very delicious!! Condor's Comfort Class has also a power outlet (German and US) on every seat, for In-flight Entertainment you get a portable device with 6 movies on it, they are also showing movies on the overhead screen. I found the earphones they provided very good and they had also very good sound quality.
In flight cheese snack
Dessert (very delicious)
Very good caesar salad with delicious marinated chicken
Somewhere over Wyoming
I love those big winglets
Entering Utah
Zion Canyon
Lake Mead
Direction Hoover Dam
Las Vegas
De-boarding and immigration was very quick, and I also received my bags very quickly. The problem I had now was due to the snow and delay in FRA I only had 50 min. time to run over the the main terminal, check-in at Frontier Airlines and run to the gate. I ran in under 10 minutes from the international terminal with two large bags to the Frontier check-in. The agent at Frontier Airlines was very nice and told me I should relax and that I just arrived right in time and would still have enough time to catch my flight to Denver. The plane to DEN was a A319 an I was sitting in 4F.
Some last spotting in LAS
Boarding was very quick and it was again a full flight. Frontier is always my favorite airline out of DEN, the flight was very good again but I just noticed again how nice Business Class is compared to standard Y, but I think I have to get used to Y if I don't get an miles upgrade because I usually pay for my flights out of my own pocket
Back home over the Rockies:
My flight from LAS
I hope you enjoined reading my first trip report. Condor Comfort Class is a very great way to fly. It is much cheaper than a legacy carrier, but offers all the same amenity. I will defiantly fly Condor's Comfort Class again !!!!

Nice report. I also find it great that DE has finally decided to resurrect the good old Condor logo and combining it in some way with the Thomas Koch branding.

Wow, I didn't realize DE had such service even on a long flight like that! Very impressive. Very nice pictures as well.

@ Edds
Thanks for your trip report. It is a long time since I last travelled with Condor. I remember that the current Comfort Class seats, when introduced, were powder-gray in color. They seem to have been recovered with (presumably lighter) materials. Is the material actually comfortable/pleasant? It looks just like what they also have in economy and, personally speaking, I feel it looks a bit "tacky". Just wondering...
Otherwise, a great trip report. When I last flew with Condor, it was from Tenerife South to Frankfurt, also on the 763ER. Then, they were upselling to Comfort Class at the gate for € 149 per person but as there were three of us travelling (with only one paying = me), it really didn't seem worth it for a four-hour flight. If I had been on my own, I would definitely have done it.

Hi, thanks a lot for your report, really enjoyed it. Seems that Condor has a nice product and since they fly nonstop from FRA this is for sure a very attractive route.

Hi!
Welcome with your tripreports. I enjoyed this first one.
What a long route for a B767. I would prefer another aircraft type I think, but DE looks very good. This will suit me perfectly too, with good food and a nice drink!
nb, pictures are very good of quality!
Regards,
Eric

Hi,
Nice report & pictures, thanks for posting.
I have to say i'm pretty impressed with Condor Comfort Class, the seat and leg room seems reasonable and the meals appear to be better than some of the large legacy carriers, amazing!
I don't really engage in any IFE, but did DE have any?

Great report.
So much snow on the plane while it was on the stand for boarding at FRA, no wonder it took an hour for de-iceing to take place.
I would like to travel on Condor as I've heard they a pretty good airline, and by your report you enjoyed it.

Thank all for your input.

The seats are quite comfortable, I really liked the fabrics. I didn't liked the leader headrests so much. I heard that their Premium Economy isn't bad either. Condor's fare on that day was really cheap 299 Euro one way Econ, 499 Econ Premium and 998 Euro Comfort Class. I bought the Premium Econ and then got an upgrade to CC.
Yes that's a long route for the 767, but the 2-2-2 layout was very nice. The route was 5383 miles. The flight time is stated as around 12hrs, our flight was 11:40 hrs.

The have overhead LCD screens in all classes. In the CC you get a portable movie device with a selection of 6 or 8 movies, but nothing like BA, i would say it was more comparable to Delta's 767-300 IFE system. You can also access many music channels. The headphones they provided in CC Class where actually very good.
I talked to the flight attendant and he told me that the are currently evaluating new lie flat seat for their CC class and a new IFE system for the whole cabin. He also told me that they are thinking to expand their premium y class due to huge demand. He then told me that they usually have more requests for CC class than seats for the routs to the US, Seychelles, Maldives and some premium destinations in the Caribbean, but their fleet size is too small to have two different versions on their rather small 767 fleet.

That must have been really really unfortunate to board in the snow well for the non-airplane lovers some good shots of the plane in the snow, love them. Service looks really good and the seat even though it might not be a 180 bed, still looks really comfortable. What kind of condition are the Condor 767's in? Great Report, would love to see a return one!!

Hi Edds
A fantastic first report and some great pictures! Thank you for the insight into Condor - an airline I hadn't really considered until now. (Actually you had me checking their flights from Phuket to FRA today! ) I always saw them as a charter carrier and didn't realize they offered so much.
Quoting Edds (Thread starter): Every passenger gets a red rose, which I thought was very nice
Classy. Interesting that LH used to do the same in First Class only... not sure whether this is still the case.

I must say that the 763 looks really nice with that livery and the winglets! Also, whilst not overly flashy, the C cabin looks really nice and tasteful - was it refurbished recently?

Wow!! Thanks for sharing a nice trip report with us. We don't usually get to read about Condor Airlines Long haul fleet. And I truly agree with you that the winglets are nice which makes the B767-300 looks attractive!

Very enjoyable report. Thanks. Loved the landscape photos too.
This Comfort Class seems like a very good deal. Is the FRA-LAS flight a year-round scheduled service?

It looks really good from here. The quality of the catering is impressive, similar to the higher end business class offerings I've seen on the reports here.
Would have loved to see inflight cabin pictures from the F9 flight as well.

Quote: What kind of condition are the Condor 767's in?
The CC class was in a very good condition. Seats where in a very good condition, too. The lavatory in the CC class looked like new. I also walked through the premium y, which also looked pretty good. I am not sure about the Y class, I have heard mixed reviews about this class, but again you shouldn't complain too much on a Y ticket fro under 300 Euros for a 11hrs flight.

Especially the food - that was the most outstanding thing from this flight. The catering was perfect, the food very delicious. That was defiantly the best airline food I ever had, better than the LH C Class food. I did not expect that from a Holiday Airline.
Quote: Is it me, or are the windows of the 767 huge?
I noticed that too, The windows on the A319 where defiantly smaller, I also felt that the 767 windows were larger than the once from the 777.
Quote: Also, whilst not overly flashy, the C cabin looks really nice and tasteful - was it refurbished recently?
I think it is at least 1 or 2 years old, but I am not sure. When I talked to the FA, he told me that they are thinking to upgrade the CC class to lie flat seats with a better IFE system.
Quote: Is the FRA-LAS flight a year-round scheduled service?
It runs twice weekly/ Sunday and Thursday it think.

Sorry about that, I also forgot to take pics of the main menu on the Condor flight, but I didn't wanted to draw too much attention with my DSLR
Here are some pics from the amenity kit and a model plain I got with the coupon I revived when checking in in FRA
