I think it depends on load factors. Try searching in the photo gallery and look at whats been photgraphed for virgin at LAX or SFO. From memory, there are both 744s and 742s at the former, while 744s and 340s at the latter. Hope this has helped, and make sure you tell us what it was like when you get back!!!

At LAX I believe there are 2 Virgin flights going to LHR. one around 5:30pm on a 747-400 and one around 8:30pm on a A340. Ive been on both flights and both aircraft and service are great. Have a good trip!

If you are flying out of LHR, it will be a B747-400. If you go out of LGW it will be a 747-200.

Hi!
I am on the 5.30 ish flight back to London, so it will be a 747-400 I take it!

I have been on a Virgin before (plane!!) to JFK that was a 747-400 and coming back it was a A340 but I haven't flown on them since they changed their livery, so I am hoping I go on a new livered one!

I am a young photographer too, and I am getting a camera for christmas with a 300mm lens so when I get my film developed i will send 'em to airliners.net

PK, the 5:30 ish flight you were referring to from the earlier post mentions it leaves from LAX. Are you flying to/from SFO? If so, Virgin has daily LHR-SFO flights with a 744. They also have, in addition, about 5 flights per week from LGW-SFO with 742, so if you are leaving/returning from LHR it will be a 744, if from LGW, a 742. Which airport are you departing from? That will tell you your aircraft you will be flying.

Hi!
I am flying from LHR to SFO, and coming back to the UK I am departing from LAX to LHR.

So it will be a 744.

I took the same flight several years back. The aircraft was a 747- 200 Boston Belle if I am not mistaken.

I am a Virgin Fan. Love the airline.
