Flight Time:15hr 00min
Preflight
After a nice week in LA and Newport Beach, its now time to make the long journey home. As usual after returning my rental car to Hertz, we took the shuttle to LAX. Check in was immediate and the good part is that now you no longer have to scan ur bags pre-check in.
Heard from check in agent that flight is full in 1st class tonight. After a long queue at security, we decided just to relax in the One World First Class lounge.
Lounge was really crowded and it took some time to find a seat. I really do not like the combined alliance lounges as it makes them really full during peak periods.
Couldn't even take a shower as the showers are shared with the Business Class lounge and a lot of people were already on the waiting list. So to put it short, One World First class lounge was really disappointing. I think it would be better if airlines still had their own lounges. But I guess this is also due to cost cutting.
Our ride for the next 15hrs

An extremely cheerful crew welcomed us on board and indeed it was full in all classes including 1st.

A long 15hr flight time was announced by the flight crew. At least this gave me just that little more time to enjoy the inflight services.
My wife got a different amenity kit
Amazingly after a great meal I managed to sleep for a whole 10 hours. Rest of time after I woke up was spent just watching some sitcoms on the AVOD and had an excellent breakfast.

Didn't have much time before boarding began, just grabbed a magazine and cigarettes from duty free.
Same bird will be taking care of me just for another couple of hours into Kuala Lumpur

Boarding was a mess espeically in J as passengers took wrong seats, my wife was also seperated from me. I guess it was my fault not to do online check in whilst I was in LA and also I didn't check the seat numbers when they gave me the HKGKUL boarding pass in LAX.

I was so drained from the long flights that after the meal was served I just slept all the way to KL. The crew were polite, extremely efficient but of course no where comparable to the earlier service I had in F.
The J seats also weren't too bad as this us my second time on it and it is somewhat comfortable.

Nice TR!
I have always wanted to try CX. however I am too loyal to Star!
BTW, I've always wondered why you always first fly from CGK to KUL, and then start your journeys from there? I mean, surely there is a direct CX flight from CGK to HKG....

Hi !
Nice report with excellent pictures! First on CX 77W looks very good !
Nice that you were able to sleep for 10h! The most I slept on a flight was about 8h on PEK-ORD on UA in F.

Hey thaia345 great follow up trip. Again I have to say that the food looks so tasty. Like you I have not checked my connection boarding cards once only to notice that it didn't even have a date on it!

Compared to the LAX joint lounge the HKG one is much better. At least you don't have to queue to use the shower facilities. All of this has wet my appetite even more so to use CX!

I also have an office in KL, therefore I always try to stop by as much as possible to have a look on things and also sign documents.....plus, i am really close to my travel agent in KL, so i rather get my tickets from him....loyalty from my side i guess

I guess i was just so tires ...But usually on long haul flights, no matter where i am flying too, i am always pretty disciplined in that after the meal is served, watch a movie, and then i doze off to dreamland, and usually awake 1.5 to 2 hrs before ETA.

Actually as you saw on my report in Part I, all these really can't compare to what you get in BKK at the TG F lounge
Is it just me or does it seem that, that Mexicana plane looks like it's facing backwards, with the engines on the wrong way....I was confused by that picture for like a minute. That white cone-shaped figure at the tail looks like the nose cone!!!
Great service, food and hardware on CX's 77Ws. The New F Suites look really really nice.
When will you be back in Perth again? I assume doing the MH124/125 legs again in J?

And why is it that Mr. ThaiA345 has been flying a lot more CX lately and not the usual MH/TG?
Great set of reports my friend, and im glad you enjoyed the great service in CX F. Just like you, i was not impressed with The Wing to be honest, and i much prefer The Pier, even if with a longer walk.
It seems that the KUL morning flight gets a lot of CX's long-haul planes, which is quite interesting. I got B-KPK a few months back so i am now assuming it had arrived from LAX!
Thanks a lot for sharing this .. and hope that all is well!
Regards,
Roni

So on the HKG-LAX and LAX-HKG runs you took pictures showing your bare feet rubbing up on the cushion, but you immediately put your socks on right after that both times? Riiiight! You did a great job showing off the amazing first class cabin and services of CX for sure, but I do agree seeing the bare, sweaty feet on the cushion is rather gross. It only reminds me that behind all the glitz and bling, its just another filthy airplane seat getting sweated on one long haul flight at a time.

Hi H,
Another great TR, sure seems CX is ahead of the game, at least in F.
Out of interest, how come you moved from F to J on the HKG to KUL sector?

Hi Pete! Its the new CS of Mexicana, it tends to play with your vision, trust me, if its confusing in pictures, its not much better in real life too!
Quoting a1ring23 (Reply 7): When will you be back in Perth again? I assume doing the MH124/125 legs again in J?
Will be back home for around 10 days in late July. And yes, it will be my usual MH124/125 babies in J ....wait, actually i am flying inbound with the old rust bucket A333 on MH 127
Quoting ronerone (Reply 8): And why is it that Mr. ThaiA345 has been flying a lot more CX lately and not the usual MH/TG?

Hi Roni! Where have you been missing to the last couple of weeks? I wanted to try The Pier when we were on the way back from LAX to KUL, but due to delay out of LAX, we only had 40mins in HKG, so no lounge visit, just smoking room and duty free cigarettes!
Quoting ronerone (Reply 8): I got B-KPK a few months back so i am now assuming it had arrived from LAX!
ACtually spoke with the crew just before landing in HKG and she told me that a lot of the B773ER get thrown into the HKGKUL routes right after coming in from LAX.
Quoting KaiTakfan (Reply 9): It only reminds me that behind all the glitz and bling, its just another filthy airplane seat getting sweated on one long haul flight at a time.
Hahaha..actually i always take a shower before long haul flights so they were sqeaky clean
Quoting ba319-131 (Reply 10): Out of interest, how come you moved from F to J on the HKG to KUL sector?
The HKGKUL sector is sold as J and Y only. And for some reason I did not get the allocation of F seats.....i guess more endowed Marco Polo club members got it out of the HKG sector. And also it was a last minute swap of aircraft, all the way till 48 hrs before the HKGKUL sector, i did an online check and it was still showing a 2 class A333
