Hello! Welcome to my tripreport. In early April this year I was on a short vacation in Austria. At first we planned to visit Vienna only, but after seeing some stunning pictures from Innsbruck, we decided to make a daytrip there. That´s also gave me the opportunity to fly on a new aircraft type for me, the Dash 8-300. I don´t hesitate! I love turboprops:D
The journey began on Saturday the 3th of April with a 3hour trainjourney to Stockholm from my hometown Karlstad. We arrived in STHLM 7pm and took the Arlanda Express train to the airport were we stayed at the Radison Arlandia Hotel. The hotel is located 1 kilometer from Arlanda and have much better prices then the Radison in terminal 5. A free every 15min shuttle-bus operates from the main entrance. The room was nice and the hotel have a sauna and swimmingpool. We paid 1095 SEK for a double room with a large breakfeast bufé include. I´m guessing that´s around 85-90 euros
After a early start we headed for the bus and after a 5 minute ride we arrived at Arlanda terminal 5 at around 8 am. Our flight was scheculed to 10.15.
Outside Arlanda:
We used Star Alliance self service machines to check-in for our flight with Austrian. Then drop our bagage at SK bagagedrop. All done in 10 min. Not so many people this early easter-sunday morning.
Security was quick and we headed for gate. After some spotting and a quick coffee it was time for boarding.
Some aircraft´s at Arlanda:
BA A319
SAS Norway 737 and Swiss A320
SAS 737´s and CO´s 757 for EWR
KLM 737
CO´s 757 again
Boarding started on time at Gate 05A
Our A/C from the gate:
We were greethed by Purser Silvia and her 2 colleagues Julia and Sonia. All very friendly.

Isn't Innsbruck awesome? I love that city. I enjoyed the pictures of the city, particularly of the river. When I was there last June, the snow was still melting so the river was raging! It looked way different from what you have in your photos.

Very nice! Thanks for the effort.
It's good to see quite a few positive TRs on OS/VO recently.
By the way, your Dash was OE-LTN, as can be seen in your pictures. (on the nose gear doors and even below the engine.)
The airfield in question seems to be St.Johann - LOIJ.

hello again!
5 days later it was time to go home. After cheking-out at 12.00 we sat down in the hotelcafé for two hours and then walk to the trainstation were the airporttrain departs from (Wien Mitte).
We left Vienna city centre 14.20 and arrived at the airport around 15.00. Our flight was scheduled to 17.15 pm.
We check-in with the self service machine again. I think only buisnessclass passenger can check-in "the old fashion" way at Vienna. After dropping the luggage at the bagagedrop we headed to the Gates.

We took off on time from Vienna´s runway 34. Made a sharp turn to the north and climbed quite slowly to our cruisingaltitude.
The autothrottle seems strange on the Fokker 100. It sounds like they are giving full thrust and then a couple of second later turn the engines to idle. This is keep going during the entire climb and also some times during crusie. I have flew with the F100 once before but then I was seating in the front. Maybe thats reason why I never thought of this before.
A couple of minutes into flight the cabincrew started their service. With only two F/A´s and nearly a full load the service was quit slow. Specialy for us in the aft.
The service consisted of a sandwich and a small portion of vanillia-pudding with hot and cold drinks. I recived a glas of wine, sparkling water and coffee. We were also offered a second round of drinks later on. As I said before, i really like Austrian for their service.
I like the Fokker wings
The engine is visible from my seat
After a calm flight we started our descent 1h and 45 min into flight. The weather in Stockholm was not nice. Light rain and 5 degres. Landed on-time at Arlanda´s runway 01L. We parked at Gate 08. We said goodbye to our crew and went to the arrivalhall to pick-up our luggage.
After waiting quite long we recived our bags and walked the long way to terminal 3, one of Arlanda´s two domestic terminals, for our flight home to Karlstad. The other one is the biggest- terminal 4 there all domestic flights with SAS and Norweigan departs from. Terminal 3 is very small and Skyways and Nextjet are the only airlines to operate from there.
Check-in and security was quick and we arrived at our gate 35 min before departure which was schedule to 21.05.
Boarding started 10 min before departure and we walked to our aircraft.

Welcomed by the door by Eva. Probaly my 10th flight with her. She´s very nice, she always have a smile on her face
Wiews from my seat:
Boarding was quick and Eva closed the door and started the safety demo. Often the demo is in swedish only but on today´s flight their were 4 chinese buisnessmen so Eva made a short summary in english.
We made a fast taxi to runway 01L and take-off immediatley, climbed quickly to our cruising altitude of 19 000 feet. At 10 000 feet the seat-belt sign was turned off and Eva started her cabin service. Skyways have a "afterwork" theme on friday evnings and today we were offfered a plate with rye bread and 4 sorts of ham and vegetables. With this we were served wine or beer. I get a glas of white wine.
Flying time was short, only 45 min and 30 min into flight we started our descent to Karlstad and we landed on runway 21 and made a short taxi to parking stand. We said goodbye to our crew and walk to the terminal building and headed home tired after a long day

Next time in Vienna, forget about this airport train ripoff. The "normal" S-Bahn (S7, IIRC) uses the same tracks and just calls at some stations in between. The travel time Vienna Airport-Wien Mitte is 21 min instead of 16 min with the CAT. Single fare the last time I used it was 3.60 Euro. Plus, if you're longer in Vienna, there are 72-hr-Vienna tickets and weekly tickets (Mon to Sun) for public transportation available including airport transfer. (17.20 for 72 hrs, 17.60 for the weekly ticket). Includes train ride on the "normal" train, CAT is 12.40 Euro more expensive...
WARNING! The post above should be taken with a grain of salt! Furthermore, it may be slightly biased towards A.

Yes, and load on both flights were good. I flew to Vienna Last November from Copenhagen and both flight was almost full. Austrian flies from Gothenburg too, with their CRJ´s. I´ve heard that the CRJ's going to be retired soon, I don´t know which A/C they going to replace with, maybe the F70 or the Q400. I hope for the Q400. I really like the DASH-family

I thought that they only use the Q400 for regional flights.
Just a reminder about the summerstop. Between the 10th of July to the 7th of August none of JZ flights operate between Karlstad and Copenhagen. It´s the same with the Stockholm route.

Not bad. But OS' catering used to be much better.
