Recently just flew to TPE via NRT from SFO. I am United 1k, so I fly quite a bit, and they give me the SWU's to upgrade. I bought my tickets 6 months ago, and was able to upgrade to business on all legs. The SFO-NRT leg was in UA's new lie-flat seats. The NRT-TPE was in the old style lounge chairs. I was able to get the special japanese meal on the SFO-NRT leg. Thank you for watching!
I have included a few photos of the experience, but the real detailed trip report is in my video:

Nice little report!
The pics of the food were great, looks like UA have a good meal concept for their J costumers. The seats looked good as well. Btw how many miles did you pay for the upgrade?
Thanks for sharing.

I won't stop complaining until SAS reintroduces free service in Economy Class!

Nice TR.
I really have to try UA Biz class one time If - as per the text on your vid - after take-off you truly "have champagne & warm nuts". I can only guess at the kind of service F-Class pax receive!
Yeah, normally UA only does sparkling wine, but I think they are feeling the pressure of other airlines to step it up. They actually offered champagne; I was surprised!
I think it is, surprisingly. I would think that their TRans ATL should be just as good as their Transpac. But I think you are right that the Transpac is better than the Transatl.
